Having said that, despite enjoying not having to think about what review to put up, all sorts of nonsense stuff starts to play with my mind now that I have so much time on hand. I have not stop working even before the hiatus. I think I only laid on the bed not doing anything for a day and that’s about it. The blog can stop for a while, sadly the work can’t. I thought I’d popped in to tell you about this super awesome Claire Organics Whitening Rose Hips Scrub with French Sea Salt which was gifted to me for my birthday by my dear friend Carrie Anne Long
I don’t know about you but I absolutely love using slightly harsher body scrub. I like to use a scrub that feels like a scrub. I have not tried any other french sea salt scrub before and I’m quite glad that my first would be the one from the well-known Claire Organics. I believe no introduction needed for Claire Organics. Everybody know the brand and who they are. If you’re looking for handmade and organic personal care products, Claire Organics is the brand to go for.
Whitening Rose Hips Scrub with French Sea Salt is pretty much self-explanatory. It is a whitening french sea salt scrub infused with rose hips oil as the main ingredient. Rose is like my all time favourite scent. Carrie knows me well . Upon opening the tub, my nose was greeted with a subtle fragrant rose oil scent. Some rose oil can be a little nose clogging and nauseating. Not this one.
The scrub uses french sea salt as the scrubbing agent. I like that it contain pieces of rose petals. Look and feel luxurious. The only downside for me is that I would want to see more rose petals. This scrub, unlike every other scrub is more on the dry side due to the salt. As much as I like harsher scrub, I find that this one to be on the extreme side . Yeap. It’s a tad bit too harsh for me. Weird that I’m saying this as I just said I want a harsher scrub lol. Like I said before, I have not tried any french sea salt scrub before. It’s my first!
This scrub is to be massage onto damp skin. I usually like to use body scrub after body shampoo. Even with damp skin I still find it to be slightly painful. Odd enough, I feel relax at the process of scrubbing. The smell of rose hips oil and rose geranium oil are more stronger when used in the shower. No complain about that! I like that it also contain other oil such as sweet almond oil, organic extra virgin olive oil to help to keep the skin extra soft, smooth and moisturizing.
Why do I say this is a super awesome scrub? Well, the first few times I used this scrub was when I was emotionally down so I did not take the extra effort to apply body lotion after shower. I just want to pamper my skin with this scrub and call it a night. A few days ago after using this Whitening Rose Hips Scrub with French Sea Salt scrub, my body lotion was staring at me so I started applying generously onto my damp skin. That was when I was wow-ed. The lotion goes over my skin so smoothly, so softly and just melts into my skin. It was amazing
I am not sure if each jar comes with a wooden spatula but my friend did send me one. The price is also very affordable at RM26 for 200g. However that was the price I found from their Facebook page so I’m not sure if the price stated is the updated price or old price. I believe if there is a price difference due to GST, it won’t be a huge gap
Update: Reader Eileen commented that this is now RM29 . Thanks for the update Eileen!
Thank you Carrie for this luxurious birthday gift <3 . I love it!

]]>Since I’m taking a break from working, I’m also on shopping ban as I’m no longer earning any income or whatsoever. Good for me because I can take this opportunity to be more hardworking in using up all the beauty product stash that I have. Like I said before I have a very good self-control on shopping but I do plan to splurge on Make Up For Ever products during their official opening of Pro Boutique which was held last Friday. I don’t know if it’s fated or what. I have to absent myself from the event that day as I was rushing some freelance job that I took on. So no haul for me.
I went to Sephora KLCC last Sunday to hunt for gifts for a dear friend of mine. Since I can’t shop for myself doesn’t mean I can’t shop for somebody else right? Right? There’s something about spending on other people. It makes me happy to see my friends caught in surprise with small gifts that I got for them. Among the array of gifts I bought, I also pick up a tub of Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish.
Here’s the thing. This friend of mine has everything. She is more knowledgable in beauty than I do, she’s a professional makeup artist, she’s young, she’s pretty and cute, she’s very fashionable and she literally doesn’t need anything. She is the only friend that is able to make me scratch my head thinking what to get for her. While I was at Sephora, I scroll back at our Whatsapp chat because we do talk about beauty stuff most of the time. In conclusion, I can’t give her jewellery because she have tons and she have better taste than I do LOL, she doesn’t use body stuff, hair care stuff or bath stuff. However she did say she only use Soap & Glory. But which? Hair? Bath? See the dilemma I’m in? In the end I pick up one miniature body wash, one Flake Away, one miniature shampoo and one miniature conditioner from Soap & Glory for my friend and some other stuff from Sephora. Then I saw that other full size body scrub is only RM39. I double confirm Flake Away price with the BA as the price tag was not anywhere visible. Price indeed is RM39 so I put the miniature back and took the full size instead. I wasn’t sure if I’ll gift my friend this as well because afterall she did say she don’t use any bath stuff . I decided that I will only think about it at home. If the gift box can fit, I’ll gift her Flake Away as well.
You’re reading this review means you can already guess that I didn’t send out Soap & Glory Flake Away to my friend. I wasn’t able to fit the large tub into the largest gift box that was given by Sephora and I already fill the box to the top brim forcefully. That means this Flake Away is mine *evil laugh*
When I first untwist the cover off, I was greeted with a burst of sweet candy scent. This body polish wasn’t like what I expected – dry and coarse. Instead this Soap & Glory Flake Away is more of a finely milled type. One would not have guess that it contain shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, skin smoothing sea salt, grapeseed and sugar as it sit smoothly in the tub. I wasn’t really paying attention to what I bought. This is body polish, not body scrub. But it works the same for me
The first thing that I notice when I scoop Flake Away out from the tub is the sugar grains. Boy the look is deceiving at first but once you touch it you will definitely feel the sugar and sea salt. It is more runnier than any other body scrub. I suppose all body polish is like this.
I can clearly see the transparent sugar grains, sea salt and peach seed powder grains. My nose also detected a strong peach scent from the body polish. It smells absolutely amazing. Where have I been all this while eh? No wonder a few of my friends only use Soap & Glory. Although the texture is more runnier, I can still feel the soft exfoliating from the sugar. The body polish warms up a bit when I start scrubbing. There is also a strong sugary scent burst during scrubbing that I can almost lick my own arm. Just kidding
There’s this tagline on the outside tub of Soap & Glory Flake Away that says “it might be fine if her friends are flaky, but lady’s legs should never be”. Well, true to that. I’m not flaky but my skin do feel extra soft and smooth after rinsing. I like that the scent lingers on for a good few hours. If you see me smelling myself next time, it’s because of Soap & Glory Flake Away
You know what? I will definitely repurchase this. It lives up to it’s rave, it’s more affordable than every other body scrub or body polish that I’ve used and it smells oh-so-good too. This big 300ml tub will last you for a good few months maybe but I doubt it’s going to last more than a month for me as I’ve already used up a quarter of it. You wanna know something odd? I couldn’t find the content ml/gram on the tub at all. I only knew that this is 300ml after searching in Soap & Glory website. How odd.
Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Polish is available at all Sephora outlet nationwide.
Price: RM39 for 300ml

I love chocolate. Not so much on chocolate milk because I can get quite jelak (satiated in English) if consumed too much. On one random sample redemption at Palmer’s roadshow back in May, I bought the Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Body Scrub because the sales girl that attended my request were very nice and polite to me. It is very rarely nowadays to encounter such an excellent customer service eventhough I am just there to redeem sample. And of course coincidently I ran out of body scrub
When I ask to try out Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Body Scrub on the back of my hand, I wasn’t aware that this is made from cocoa. The strong cocoa scent immediately rushed into my nostril, as if slapping me back to my senses. There and then…I realized I may like chocolate as food but not for my body care.
The jar is a huge one but it’s a standard size, just like The Body Shop’s. It’s clear so the content is visible from the outside. Looks oh so tempting eh?
Unscrew the cap and you will find another protective separator made from clear, thin plastic. I can only assume the scrub is too runny that a separator is needed to hold the content in place. Imagine what will it be if the separator is not there. Oh gosh. It would be so messy!
The scrub is just as how I expected it to be – runny. I’m not a fan of the texture. It is just too runny. I have to be careful so that I don’t spill it everywhere. Because I use this after my normal shower, when my body is still wet…once I slap on and start scrubbing this Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Body Scrub, I find the walls and floor in my bathroom is all spattered with the scrub. It’s really one messy routine
However, the scrub comes with loads of generous cocoa beads. I’m also not a fan of the strong chocolate scent. It’s too overwhelming. Even for chocolate lover like myself.
I asked the sales girl on how long should I scrub my body. She told me to scrub and scrub until the cocoa beads broke into smaller pieces. I must warn you. The beads is quite harsh. You might not like it if you are into softer scrub. Me on the other hand like the scrub beadss. I have a philosophy on scrubs. A scrub is suppose to be like how scrub should be – feeling the beads. To me it’s like a spa massage.
Do I smell like chocolate milk shake? You bet I do. And I’m not liking it. It’s too overwhelming. Usually I’d just quickly get the routine done asap and rinse the scrub off asap. Even rinsing would take some time due to all the scrub beads that is all over my body.
Do I still smell like chocolate milk after rinsing? Hmmm just a bit thank God lol.
Eventhough I don’t quite fancy the scent nor the runny texture, I actually quite like the scrub because of the generous cocoa beads. It does exfoliating job pretty good and left me with a softer skin. However I don’t think so I’d repurchase it. I would prefer something else that smells better
Here is the ingredient list.

]]>Somewhere end of June 2012 L’Occitane Malaysia releases a few new products into their Almond range and I hauled some products back as you can read in this post. That haul include two tubes of the Limited Edition Almond Shower Scrub.
Ahhhh…the “Limited Edition” phrase never fail to get me. I wasn’t in the need to get a new body scrub and RM84 is not cheap but after sniffing the scent and trying out the texture at the store let’s just say I was sold. The only thing that make me think for 1 second 5 second is the watery texture. I prefer my body scrub to be thick and exfoliating, not watery like a shower gel.
To be honest I like to see description, how to use and ingredients all on the back of the tube. That way if I need to refer back to anything I can always grab the tube and read again. L’Occitane Almond Shower Scrub is the exact of what I like.
What It Claimed
Ingredients
What I really REALLY like about this product is the dispensing system. At first I didn’t know that we only need to twist and squeeze the content out until the BA showed it to me. I was pretty excited to see that in the store! Please ignore my ignorance towards the brand previously. We had a love and hate relationship which explains why I didn’t know lol!
For a brand new tube you’d see a protective sticker with simple On and Off instruction printed on it.
Twist the cap to left side (ON) and the milky white thing in the middle will disappear back in the cap.
All you need to do is to squeeze and scrub away! This is brilliant right? You’re all wet after shower, you reached for a tube of body scrub, twist the cap, squeeze out the content and scrub on. After you’re done you just need to twist it back to close and wash the tube put the tube away.
I still think this is a shower gel scrub as you can use this as shower gel AND at the same time scrub. I said that because everytime I use this after shower the shower scrub actually lathers up a bit. You can see bits of almond crushed shells or is it almond tree flower? Well I’m not sure. One thing I’m sure is I like to see those bits in a scrub.
Without any contact with water the shower scrub is just a normal jelly gel form. For those that doesn’t like their shower scrub to be too harsh, this is definitely the one for you. For some reason the shower scrub smells musky to me after rinsing. It could be the almond oil or almond tree flower.
I feel fresh and my skin is soft to touch for the longest time I can remember. This is something that I don’t achieve with other body scrub. Now that I’ve used up half a tube I’m beginning to like this day by day
Although this is limited edition item, I still see this in the store 2 weeks ago. I was told it’s while stock lasts. You can check with L’Occitane which store is still carrying this stock if you’re interested.
