CLEO has done it again. After being quiet for two months since it’s last box set in June 2014, CLEO Malaysia released yet another edition of box set for the month of September. It is the CLEO September 2014 X Dipped Row Jewellery Box Set.

The collaboration this time round is rather unique. Instead of the usual skin care or makeup products, CLEO collaborated with Dipped Row. If you still have no idea who or what is Dipped Row, then you’ve been missing out quite a bit. I get to know Dipped Row when they was launched a few months ago. A few friends of mine was invited for the launch and they painted the stones on the jewellery. This is the reason why I had a vivid memory of Dipped Row. Who would paint the jewellery rhinestone anyway right? No one. Dipped Row did it!

Now, CLEO said that this box set is Limited Edition Dipped Row for CLEO but I claim to differ and I’ll tell you why. I have nothing again both CLEO or Dipped Row by any mean. I love them both. I’m just particular of the term used lol. Can’t blame me. I’m from magazine and digital publishing background . I agreed on this awesome deal being exclusive to CLEO but not the part where it said it’s Dipped Row for CLEO. Reason being, these pieces is currently selling at Dipped Row. If it’s “for CLEO” then it has to be something that you can’t get from their online store. No biggie actually. Just my crazy thoughts

I’m a seasonal jewellery addict. Sometimes I’m into big chunky rings, sometimes charm bracelet, sometimes huge earrings and sometimes necklace. For RM10 inclusive of a copy of CLEO September 2014 issue worth RM6 and one jewellery piece worth RM32 (earrings) or RM25 (bracelet), I say this is a very good deal. That is unless you are not into jewellery

There is three different jewellery to choose from – Florette Studs, Lennox Link Bracelet and another earrings which I couldn’t find from the website. I go for Florette Studs in Pink although I was drawn to green one as well. The quality of the earrings is actually quite good. It’s heavy and definitely an unique piece to have.

Just when we are still gaga-ing over Female Singapore April 2014 Issue X NARS The Collector’s Edition and we are talking about how Malaysia doesn’t have box set like Female Singapore, well whaddaya know. CLEO Malaysia released a limited edition box set with their June 2014 issue. It’s the CLEO June 2014 X The Body Shop 4-Step Smoky Eyes Smoky Plum Limited Edition Box Set.

Thanks to Mieza for spotting CLEO Malaysia Facebook page status update on Tuesday early morning, I would probably have missed it even though at that point of time I was sitting right in front of my notebook browsing Facebook with a cup of coffee on hand. Boy I’m not liking how news feed appears on our timeline nowadays.

I didn’t really plan to dash out of the house on the same day to get it. I was thinking maybe I could grab it the next day if I’m going Ikea. I spoke to mum briefly on it and she feels that I shouldn’t sit on the idea. In fact she was the one who has been chasing me to bath and get myself ready since 9.30am! I guess she’s more anxious than me LOL. While I was doing my makeup, I made some calls to a few bookstore to check on stock availability. It’s only 27th on the month so I’m expecting stock delays with some of the bookstore, if not all. My first choice would be Borders The Gardens. They have the normal edition but not the box set (yet). Then I made a call to Borders Tropicana City Mall. There was no one picking up the phone despite several attempt. Borders The Curve was rude on the phone and she put me on hold for 10 minutes. I hung up after tired of waiting. I really don’t want to drive anywhere further than Mid Valley so I check CLEO Malaysia Facebook page again and spotted MPH Mid Valley. The kind lady on the phone confirmed that the box set arrived and they still have most of the stocks.

Each set cost RM30. Regular magazine is RM6. I came home with just three set. One for Jenny, one for myself and another one for gifting. I like to get a spare for the “just in case”. There are only 25 sets at the magazine section. I saw one set on display and another set on display at the cashier counter.

So what’s great about this box set eh? It’s definitely not NARS but I don’t mind. CLEO partnered with The Body Shop this time and the partnership includes an insert of 4-Step Smoky Eyes 4-Colour Eye Palette in Smoky Plum together with a copy of June 2014 issue of CLEO magazine. I tried searching for other shades (just in case you girls asked) but too bad there’s only one shade available. I’m secretly beaming with a smile because Smoky Plum is a smokey shade that I would prefer over black/grey smokey or brown/dark brown smokey. This palette is very similar to one of my favourite MAC palette

The Body Shop 4-Step Smoky Eyes 4-Colour Eye Palette in Smoky Plum is a BEAUTIFUL satin, earthy plum quad. I never expected that each shadow pan is this huge. The shades are lovely. It will not be too dramatic for work. The eyeshadow palette also comes with two mini brush – eyeshadow brush and angled eyeliner brush. It’s not the typical sponge tip applicator that you get from every other eyeshadow palette. The brushes are like the miniature version of their retail brushes. Even the holder is the same. The size and length of the brush is bigger and longer too. Bristles are soft so no complain there. Just in case you are wondering, each palette cost RM99 at The Body Shop. Although they are on 50% sales now, it is RM49.50 and still slightly expensive than CLEO’s. I’m glad to find that the manufacturing date is May 2013. It’s not something that is going to expired soon and simply thrown in the magazine to get rid of the stock.

Last month’s local magazine has been keeping me busy and I thought boy, that was such a good GWP magazine edition. None prepared me for this!

It all happen yesterday during lunch time. My colleague told me that one of her friend posted a picture on CLEO Collector’s Edition January 2014 that comes with a set of Biotherm skin care worth RM200. So three of us (2 girls and 1 guy) hopped into my car and I opted to go to the nearest Borders outlet and that’s at Tropicana City Mall.

CLEO Collector’s Edition January 2014 is a limited edition magazine collaboration in conjunction with the magazine’s new look. There are ample supply of stocks right at the entrance of Borders Tropicana City Mall. The picture taken at the store doesn’t justify the stock level but trust me, it’s a few layer stacked up. I notice that most people will just stand in front of the magazine, stared at it and walk away without buying any. I’m curious why lol.

Each CLEO Collector’s Edition January 2014 cost RM30. Initially I bought three copies using my colleague’s Borders member card which entitled for a 5% discount, making the total RM28.50 per copy only. After making payment, I opened up a copy to see the size of the Biotherm products and if I remember correctly, I saw this set selling at the counter before and I nearly bought a set after trying the trial kit prior. So I bought another two copies

Inside the Biotherm PURE.FECT SKIN PureTRIO 123 set, there are three products included. One full size and the other two is miniature.

• PURE.FECT SKIN Anti-Shine Purifying Cleansing Gel 50ml (Full size is 125ml for RM90)
• PURE.FECT SKIN Micro-Exfoliating Purifying Toner 125ml (Full size is 200ml for RM90)
• PURE.FECT SKIN Pure Skin Effect Hydrating Gel 50ml FULL SIZE worth RM100

One thing to note is the manufacturing date. Of all five sets I have, only one set is manufactured in 02/2011. I was pretty disappointed at first as we are entering 2014 already which means the product shelf life could have expired. Then I decided to run through the embossed batch code with checkcosmectics.com and I was surprised to find that the products are all manufactured in January 2012! I’ll make sure I run a checking on all products tomorrow just to double confirm.

The magazine also comes with a Limited Edition CLEO Clutch Diary. It’s hidden inside the magazine and the magazine itself is all wrapped up in a plastic which are inside the box so there’s no way you can see which design is included. But overall there’s just three design

Another surprise I found inside the magazine is a piece of Bioré Cleansing Strips Pore Pack and a sachet of Olay Aquaction Deep Hydrating Gel 2g. Although I bought five copies, sadly one of the magazine doesn’t have both of the sample. They must have missed the gluing process.

The magazine itself also comes with a redemption card for the new Aupres Aqua Active Sleeping Mask EX which was launched not too long ago. Kinda happy to see this as I missed the launch event due to work. I get to try this in a way

Last Sunday I spotted a special limited edition blue box of Cleo magazine May 2013 issue in collaboration with Lanvin ME at Kinokuniya. The magazine is selling for RM7 which is definitely a steal considering the normal issue would be RM6 per copy. This collaboration came in place in conjunction with a new fragrance launched by Lanvin – Lanvin ME.

The box is a super thick and heavy duty box in a “Tiffany blue” color that resembles the color on Lanvin ME packaging box. It does look like a blown up version of the fragrance if you ask me.

The magazine and other booklet supplements are all wrapped in another layer of transparent plastic which I’ve removed for this picture. As you can see it’s not tight fitting. There’s some loose gap around the magazine so yes the box is larger than the magazine.

For just RM7 not only you get a hard box which you can reuse for other storing purposes, you also get 3 different reads.

The usual Cleo magazine is of course included, with this Lanvin ME collaboration you’ll also get a Lanvin “My Diary” booklet and lastly a Sephora beauty booklet, a miniature 4.5ml of Lanvin ME fragrance (yay!) and a complimentary Starbucks iced coffee voucher.

Now, we all know we buy this magazine probably in bulk because of one thing. The miniature fragrance that was included. Am I right?

As I said earlier this special box comes with the latest Lanvin ME miniature 4.5ml.

The miniature is the exact replica of the actual full size except for the dangling rhinestone on gold chain at the bottle neck. But of course, it’s a miniature. The baby version

Another thing to take note is the Lanvin ME My Diary booklet that comes with every copy / box.

The reason why the special My Diary booklet is included is because there is an ongoing contest happening to win great prizes from Lanvin!

All you need to do is to turn to the middle page of the booklet. It is a blank double page spread.
1) Do up the most creative collage that you can with the title ABOUT ME. The collage picture must be the pictures that best personify you and what you love the most in this world.
