Etude House is FINALLY here!

Wait a minute. *hand brake sound*. Hang on. Hold the horses. Isn’t Etude House been in Malaysia for years?!

Yes they are. In fact, Etude House in Korea is under Amore Pacific, the same company that has Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Mamonde and so on under the same umbrella. Over here in Malaysia, Etude House was under a different company. The suspicion of the fallout began when Etude House Facebook page name was changed to something else and it sent a notification to all their fans. Then rumours started to go around saying Amore Pacific actually took back Etude House. And then the massive clearance sale happened and fast forward to last month, the new Etude House was launched – grandly and successfully.

I was invited over as media, not blogger but since it is a beauty brand afterall, it definitely suit Street Love more than Modern Mavens therefore you are reading this piece of news here . This will be more of a virtual store tour therefore expect lesser talk with more photos. And the photos are not in the best due to the lighting. Everything are yellow and warm . Bear with me please.

Being one of the most sought after Korean brand, of course Etude House has to open its flagship store at Sunway Pyramid Mall. The massive huge store occupies 2,455 sq feet on the LG1 Floor, in between Blue and Orange Concourse. The store is currently housing more than 1,000 product lines ranging from cosmetics, skincare, body care, perfume, hair care, nail colors and many more.

The highlight of the new store is the ‘Dear My Glass Tinting Lips-Talk’ collection, whereas you can choose your preferred lipstick casing with your preferred lipstick shade. Overall there are 20 different lip shades and 20 uniquely designed lipstick cases where you can mix-and-match accordingly to your own preference. Etude House also offers personalized engraving service with special engraving on their lipstick available in three selections of language – Korean, Malay and English. Complimentary engraving service is only redeemable with the purchase of one complete set of Dear My Glass Tinting Lips-Talk at a promotional price of RM56 during store opening. This was a hit.

The store has a young and sweet theme to it and so the interior are all sweet color-themed and with trendy finishing. This brings the brand’s culture of Makeup Play to the next level with fun, interactive, and engaging features. The aims is to provide customers with an enjoyable experience to discover their own unique beauty with Etude House.

I was pretty amazed with the store and the return of the “new” Etude House at the launch to be honest. The store is pretty on-trend with interactive features. One of the special features at the flagship store include the ‘Find Your Look’ section. It has Etude House ‘Signature 9 Looks’ with distinctive product highlights and 9 how-to video tutorials where customers can watch, learn and discover the looks and products that best suit them. I was told to try the app myself and the interactive mirror will changes the makeup on me. They can even print out the photo, which I did

Okay, gotta jump right back in to tell you about this. I love these makeup classes stand. It shows you the look and all the products used, together with a video. So if you are a makeup beginner, this would be so useful. Just watch, learn and buy all the products as stated if you want to. No need to think that much lol.

Thursday is my favourite day of the week as it is the day iHerb refreshed their weekly special. However this time around I am not eyeing on what’s on the weekly special but rather something new caught my eye. I would also want to place a bigger iHerb haul but as usual, I really don’t have anything I want so this iHerb haul is another small one. I’m happy with it!

The Hyalogic Facial Relax Face Serum (RM104.01) caught my attention mainly because of the name “facial relax”. I was curious so I clicked on the product to read the description. Oh my gosh! This is a face serum that acts like a botox. It contain Argireline as its 2nd ingredient. Argireline is a unique hexapeptide that is known as THE ingredient to relax and smooth expression lines such as forehead, smile lines and around the eyes. It’s a product to minimize the appearance of wrinkles so to speak. But I was caught with its ability to relax and smooth lines. Results in 30 days some more . I need that for my forehead wrinkles lol. This is a new product on iHerb so it was on some discounted price.

Then ELF Cosmetics brought in so many new products and I literally wanted to bag everything! In the end I only bought one item as I suddenly remembered I have tons of stash inside my secret Sephora warehouse in my room. Bummer lol! I have been on the lookout for a mask brush. This ELF Pore Refining Brush and Mask Tool (RM21.71) fits the bill.

I looked at my cart which only contain 2 items and I needed to get more stuff to bring the shipping fee down. At this point of time I think my DHL Express shipping fee was RM20++. It’s cheap but a bit waste if I only check out with just 2 items on hand. After some intense browsing, I really don’t have anything else I want so I grabbed the EOS Shave Cream in Lavender Jasmine (RM22.01) as a backup to my Vanilla version which I bought not too long ago. It was not a Shipping Saver item but it helps in a way. I love it so I bought another one just in case.

The last item I bought is an OG. Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer (RM27.18) is the eye primer I remember hunting Etude House store for it many years ago. It was always sold out because it was that good. If you like the Urban Decay one, you will love this more. Honestly Urban Decay one sucks but THIS IS THE BOMB. Eyeshadow stays on all day, no smudging, no creasing. It is also so much affordable than Urban Decay. I thought since my Too Faced Shadow Insurance is running out, why not.

Overall I paid RM14.28 for DHL Express Shipping. Now, that is way cheaper than the RM50++ I used to pay. I will not opt for Global Mail anymore as my Pixi Beauty parcel was lost after more than 2.5 months. iHerb kindly refunded me BUT I was told it will be just a one-time off courtesy. Knowing this, I will definitely not going to opt for Global Mail anymore even though it is free because it always got lost and iHerb already mentioned that there will be no more refund from them in the future. I would rather pay for DHL Express Shipping as it is trackable and safe.

The beauty trend now has been leaning more towards contouring, highlighting and then we have strobbing. We often see American brand coming out with numerous products just to cater to these genre of makeup application techniques. It is definitely rare to see Korean brand Etude House coming out with Play 101 Stick.

Play 101 Stick is a multi-function color stick for eyes, cheeks and lips that creates color impacts with smooth and sheer finish. No, you do not use one stick for all but there are different cream stick product for different purposes. It is pretty straight forward.

Play 101 Stick #Contour Duo (RM99)

This is the one on the far left on the photo below. As you can see, it is a dual-ended product with duo purpose. One end is the highlighter and the other end is the shading stick. It is a handy dandy product which anyone even a makeup noob will be able to use without much hassle. Use the highlighter shade on the nose bridge, T-Zone, cupid’s bow, brow bone and even the tip of the nose for a hint of brightness. The shading side on the other hand is to contour. Use along the hairline (my favorite trick), side of the nose, chin and even jawline for the 3D dimension effect.

Play 101 Stick Foundation (RM99)

Not only stick foundation are in and so much easy to use, many use darker shade stick foundation as cream contour. It comes in a twist up stick aka multi-auto. Absolutely a mess-free product to use. Usually stick foundation are creamier and easier to blend too. There are four shades to choose from – #01 Fair (cool tone base for clear skin), #02 Vanilla (cool tone base for bright skin), #03 Beige (warm tone base for soft skin), and #04 Sand (warm tone base for healthy skin).

Play 101 Multi-Color (RM99)

The Multi-Color stick on the other hand is very interesting. There are six different shades for different purposes – #10 Highlighter, #11 Shading, #12 till #15 is for Blush / Lips. The shade intensity is amazing and pretty intense.

Take a closer look at the first photo and you will notice a small little angled brush. That is the Play 101 Stick Brush (RM78). It is a dense bristle brush used to blend out all the cream products. It’s dense bristles are able to smoothen product on uneven skin texture.

Personally, I am very much into the whole contouring and highlighting technique so imagine how happy I was to see these. My favourite would be the #Contour Duo, Multi-Color Stick in #10 Highlighter and #11 Shading . Another trick is to use a darker foundation stick for contouring. The Play 101 Stick Foundation in #04 Sand will be a good subtle shade to use for contouring

Etude House fans will notice that their favourite well-known Korean brand have been releasing limited edition collection using fruit theme. For Spring 2016, Etude House went with the strawberry theme and yesterday was the official launch preview of the entire Berry Delicious Strawberry Collection. You know the drill. Get comfy, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and read on!

Let’s start with the face products

Precious Mineral Any Cushion (RM141)

Fans and collectors of cushion foundation are in for a treat! Precious Mineral Any Cushion compact case gets a makeover to coincide with Berry Delicious theme. I am not a fan of cushion foundation but this, this had me. It is definitely a must have for collectors and for existing users. Comes in two shades – NO2 Light Beige, W13 Natural Beige.

Fantastic Color Eyes (RM109)

What do you get when you combine Spring with Strawberry? Two beautiful reddish eyeshadow palette. There are two palette in Berry Delicious collection – #7 Coral Green Composition and #8 Pink Brown Composition. Each palette consists of six eyeshadow shades from soft shadow color to splendid point colors.

Strawberry Cream Blusher (RM67)

The cream blusher comes with a puff similar to Any Cushion Foundation. There are three shades to choose from – #1 Ripe Strawberry, #2 Full of Cream, #3 Grapefruit Strawberry. Its main color in the cream blush collection is #1 which contains pearl.

Moving on to the lips

Color in Liquid Lips Juicy (RM74)

When I saw this, I was like ‘oh man, not another gloss!’. Glad to report that it is not lip gloss. This one is a liquid lipstick with tint effect. It does not dries down matte nor it is glossy. Feels watery on the lips (yes to hydrating) and even if the colors are all rubbed off from the lips, the tint is still there. It has a stronger berry scent to it as it contain strawberry and raspberry extract. Overall, there are 10 shades to choose from. Interestingly, I found a mint green among the 10 shades.

Strawberry Lip

In the Strawberry Lip mini collection, there are three lip products – Lip Jam, Lip Jam Scrub, and Lip Jam Treatment. The collection are made with common ingredients such as strawberry and cranberry extract to improve nourishment and skin elasticity, strawberry, cranberry, and raspberry extract to improve moisture and protection to the skin.

Strawberry Lip Jam (RM56)

• Acts as two function – lip balm and tint.
• Keep lips moisturized thanks to berry extracts.
• Provide nourishment to the lips with its melting butter and vaseline.

Strawberry Lip Scrub (RM55)

• Contain various natural granules such as strawberry seeds, walnut, and sugar to remove dead skin cells effectively.
• Keep lips moisturized thanks to berry extracts, even after removing dead skin cells.

Strawberry Lip Jam Treatment (RM55)

• A sleeping pack for the lip to provide intensive treatment to the lips.
• Provide nourishment to the lips with its melting butter and vaseline.
• Keep lips moisturized thanks to berry extracts.

Strawberry Eau De Perfume (RM142)

Rarely do I see an EDP in a seasonal releases. This 30ml EDP is great for those who are into something sweet, refreshing, berry fruity scent. It’s Top Note consists of Strawberry, Raspberry and Orange Sweet. When the scent tones down to the Middle Note a few minutes later, you will find Peach, Jasmine and Muguet Flowers floraly note to balance the sweetness. The Base Note is to further balance the overall fragrance with Musk and Sandalwood. In another word, this EDP is not as sweet as I thought it is.

Strawberry Souffle Nail (RM24)

There are a small nail polish collection in the Berry Delicious collection. Why is it called souffle? That is because this nail polish has a soft jelly texture. It contain strawberry extract of course for a boost of Vitamin C for your nails

Now now now. This is super cute. And the bread sponge is not decoration

Strawberry Body Scrub N’ Wash (RM67)

A 2-in-1 product as the name suggest. It is a body wash and a body scrub. Something like a body polish. So do expect a texture like strawberry jam. Its jellyish texture is gentle on the skin but yet removes stubborn dead skin cells with raspberry seed and walnut husk powder in it.

Strawberry Body Milk (RM67)

Body Milk is also known as body lotion, only less tackier and less heavy. This one although is soft-textured, it contain high moisture to help to keep skin moisturized.

Bread Shower Sponge (RM25)

So cute! It comes in a shape of a bread so when you are spreading the Strawberry Body Scrub N’ Wash on it, it feels as if you are spreading jam on a bread. Brilliant idea
