When I was gifted a bottle of Elie Saab Girl of Now on my birthday, I was asked to do a review on it. I said no immediately but after considering it for quite a while, I think I should because it is the latest fragrance release. Granted now the distributor no longer send us any new fragrance . Before I go into detail with that perfume, I thought I’d tell you about my all time favourite perfume.

I still remember my reaction when I was gifted with a perfume. I think I sent a wrong impression to my friend that I hated my gift. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE PERFUME. Just that I have too much at the moment lol. I currently have about 30 bottles on my vanity table and another 10ish in the cabinet unopen. I wish he ask me what I want and I’d reply diamond

No. 1 Favourite Perfume – Estée Lauder Modern Muse

I cannot tell you enough how much I love the Estée Lauder Modern Muse line. Modern Muse, Modern Muse Chic or whatever just give me all. I’ve gone through the entire bottle of the original Modern Muse. Right before that, I was lucky to be sent the new Modern Muse Chic. Both version carries the same scent. For me there’s hardly any difference. I’m about to finish the Modern Muse Chic and Paris B kindly gave me hers! This is a scent where whenever I wore it, everyone would stop me on the street and ask me what perfume I was wearing. It happened at several H&M store, with the cashier asking me what sensual scent I was wearing. You can really smell a Modern Muse chic walking from far. I remember when I was at the Sephora Mid Valley store opening, out of the sudden I can smell a strong Modern Muse storm. I started to look around and waited. Then all the Estée Lauder PR girls arrived LOL. I told them “I can smell you from far” and they were laughing hard. No kidding. It’s really that good. For me that is

Signorina Misteriosa, Opium, Bamboo, Flora and The Scent

I can’t pick the secondary perfume because I have many! But if I want to save my Modern Muse and use something equivalent, it would be YSL Black Opium. Oh my God. This perfume is so sexy and seductive. The scent is strong but not nauseating. It lasts the entire day without the note changes. Perfume usually has 3 notes in it and each will evolve as the day goes by. Not this one. No problem for me as I like it that way.

And if I want to smell delicious and yet still sexy, I would go for Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. I’m a floral scent girl so it is no surprise that I would like this one. The scent is so me according to many people. I go heavy handed with this and I don’t find myself drowning in it. Not bad lol. It’s mature, sexy, sensual, seductive. It’s everything a girl would like.

Hugo Boss BOSS THE SCENT has a similar scent to Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, only sweeter. I don’t usually go for sweet scent except for this one, which I’ve used up quite a bit. It has a light scent despite being an Eau de Parfum. The scent doesn’t last long although I literally bath myself in it. So if I want to smell nice and a little sweet for a quick outing such as coffee run or lone shopping, this is what I’d wear.

This next scent has an impact in me personally. My ex and I each received the same Gucci Bamboo for review at the same time. As much I like this perfume and I’m left with 3% of content, I would want to finish this up and toss the bottle away. That’s because I have a new bottle waiting . If you like a subtle scent, this is the scent for you. It smells really fresh and floraly. I’m kinda obsessed with it. I only wish it was a tad bit stronger so that I don’t have to use so much each time.

Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Misteriosa is the “darker version” of the iconic Signorina. I like Ferragamo as a whole brand so it doesn’t take a lot of guessing I like their fragrance line as well. The scent is mysterious as how the brand want to package it. It’s a deep, mature, womanly scent that is also sexy and sweet despite being a floral scent.

The Love of My Life – Elie Saab Girl of Now

You know how certain things that you don’t like a first grew on you and you fell in love? Again and again, all over. That is how I am with Elie Saab Girl of Now. Very much the same feeling I had towards the person who gave me this gift.

I received this on my birthday. It was my birthday eve, raining heavily that we had to cancel our Japanese dinner and go for a cozy home Japanese food order from Food Panda instead. Not the birthday celebration I expected and I was rather disappointed. I bought a new dress to wear. You know me. And it was my birthday! Food Panda was not good but the company was. The conversation started out of the sudden like “so I went to ask the lady what is the latest and greatest and the lady said this”. There I was, sitting there wondering what the heck this person was saying (because there was no opening line) and this person bent over to the other side of the table, and put the box in front of me. A perfume?! I said. That person replied yeah, it’s beauty. I did ask why buy me perfume and that I like diamond haha. This person has been telling me a few days ago that it’s something beauty and I’d love it. Because it’s beauty. Beauty is me. True enough. 100 brownie points for understanding me that well. I opened the bottle and mist Girl of Now on my arm. I said it smells like some middle eastern scent and I don’t like it. You know how perfume is. It takes time. After about 30 minutes, I smell something nice. I took a sniff on my arm and I was blown away. The top note has worn off and the middle note emerged. It reminds me of YSL Black Opium, only manlier. The beautiful scent stays on smelling oh so nice for the rest of the night. As I used it more and more, I like it. Now I love it. As I’m typing this now, I’m misting myself with this perfume on me. I find myself doing this a lot lately whenever I’m working from home. I have the bottle sitting in front of me. Hard to not reach out and mist myself with it.

There you have it! My perfume collection and what I smells like most of the time . Conclusion, Modern Muse or Black Opium hands down. Otherwise it’s Girl of Now

Gucci make the best fragrances out there. They hardly or almost never got it wrong, for me that is. I am a fan. Every single Gucci fragrance I own are my most favourite among all. Just don’t ask me to choose my favourite among the favs as I would have a problem with it . Gucci Flora, one of Gucci most sought after fragrance is said to be targeting younger audience. With all the floral motives going on and the cutesy bow on the bottle neck, I can see why. It is dubbed as a subtle but yet sophisticated, floral fragrance that are inspired by princesses from the past, present, and future. Fast forward to early 2017, Gucci launched a Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Limited Edition scent. Eeeekkk! I love limited edition scent!

Whenever I whipped this Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Limited Edition bottle out, everyone will go ohhh, that perfume is so you Fiona. I have to agree with it. This perfume is indeed so me, as if it was made for me. Floral scent is my main fragrance preference and this Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Limited Edition fits the bill. What I like about this perfume is the simplicity but yet gorgeous bottle. It carries Gucci Flora identity from past previous Flora launches. It can’t run away from the hexagon hefty glass bottle, the heavy and well-made hexagon cap with GUCCI embossed on the top and of course, the little black bow on the bottle’s neck.

This Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Limited Edition particularly has a tinted, radiant modern pop pink juice. For someone who love pink, I fell in love with this one even before the first mist. No kidding! As the name Floral Gorgeous Gardenia suggests, this fragrance has an elegy to the delicate gardenia flower. It does smell elegant and sophisticated florally, and that is my kind of scent. This fragrance is an Eau de Toilette, therefore you may expect to mist on more than usual just so the scent stays on the entire day. And it does. The scent tones down to a subtle scent, still smelling the same as when first mist on at the beginning of the day. Just more subtle and soothing. The scent opens up to what was described as “the lightness of gardenia shrub’s first blossom”. If this is what gardenia shrub first blossom smells like, hey I am going to have a gardenia garden!

This scent is definitely an intense feminine scent based on the elegant and sophisticated vibes I get. However, it does carry notes of red berries, which I supposed is to tone down the intense floral scent. The heart scent is of course white gardenia and its base scent are made of patchouli and brown sugar. Does it any how smells sweet? Not actually.

The outer box is also something I notice and note of. So pretty! It has electric shade of pink with flora and fauna of botanical Flora print printed on the entire box. I don’t know about you. I never throw my fragrance box away. I have it in an enclosed cabinet. This Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Limited Edition box is definitely a keeper

Scent is a personal preference. I cannot stress this enough here in Street Love. Some like it floral, some like it fruity, some like it woody, some like it musky. This makes us human. You’re not weird, not nonsense. You just have a different preference as everybody else. I may like floral and you may like fruity but that does not mean I can call you crazy. No, you’re not. So don’t be afraid to say it out that the scent does not suit you. Because that is what happened at Gucci Guilty Absolute media launch.

I did not like Gucci Guilty Absolute’s leathery and earthy scent and I was referred to as the weird one. Oh please.

I do not have time for the drama because I need to tell you about this new men fragrance. Let’s save our breath for that shall we?

I love Gucci fragrances. All their fragrances regardless women or men smells so good. This new Gucci Guilty Absolute men fragrance is really a manly perfume, from the scent right down to the packaging. It convey the message of #GuiltyNotGuilty and is created for man who defines his own masculinity, the one who BOLDLY state there is nothing absolute about being a man today. This applies to women as well. BE BOLD and stand up for yourself. Gucci Guilty Absolute defines ironic, modern declaration of self-expression, free from social norms and expectations. Well, that sort of said it all about me on my fragrance preference in this case, eh?

Gucci Guilty Absolute scent was created between creative director Alessandro Michele and maître perfumeur Alberto Morillas. Alberto made the scent into a men’s highly populated woody olfactory category. My nose detected this moss earthy scent and I was right. Alberto further define the scent with two leading notes. These two notes are the only two main notes you will smell. I am not kidding. Leather accord Woodleather™ is one of it, as a tribute to the House’s leather-making roots and the second note is Goldenwood™, a new natural extract of the Nootka Cypress. I can safely say you will never smell this type of men fragrance anywhere, because this was also the first time I am smelling it. This particular leathery and earthy scent was created exclusively for Gucci Guilty Absolute by Alberto.

Firstly, the perfume breaks into an ultra-dry woody notes that almost smells like the moldy green moss in the forest’s wood. It has a warm scent of a traditional wood with rich ambery accents of the Nootka. These two leading notes was further intensified using three forms of Patchouli Oils with sweet, dark and earthy character and Vetiver, the fresh and earthy grass from the woods.

The smooth flask style bottle design has the lines of the original and best-selling Gucci Guilty fragrance. It is filled with Absolute rich cognac-hued juice and top with a shiny black cap. The box is my favourite. It has the tobacco military-colored color, and of course with black interlocking Gs on the front just like every other Gucci fragrances.

The campaign was helmed by Jared Leto, who will be appearing in all of Gucci Guilty Absolute posters, ads and on other medium.

Gucci Guilty Absolute in a nutshell is a deep, warm, masculine, leathery type of scent. An Editor commented that it smells like a workshop but in a nicer way and I could not agree more. It does reminds us of the workshop, with all the oil and man scent

I love the new Gucci Guilty For Him and For Her campaign statement – #GuiltyNotGuilty. It is catchy and makes one wonder, what do Gucci mean? Really, what does the new tagline #GuiltyNotGuilty means?

Gucci is entering a new chapter. Gucci is celebrating individuality. The new generation breaks the gender rules and common social boundaries. They’re expressive, being who they want to be, doing what they want to do. They believe in living and indulging in life without that guilty feeling. It’s a modern generation declaring more on self expression and sexuality. That’s the new Gucci Guilty.

If you’re a fan of Jared Leto, for which I am, you will surely wish you’re in that tub with him instead of one of the model. The ad campaign for Gucci Guilty For Him and For Her involves three person – Jared Leto together with two models Julia Hafstrom and Vera Van Erp. The trio was filmed showing the before and after fo an intimate experience as a set of flashbacks. I’ll leave to your imagination on what the trio was doing. Gucci did said “they explore each other and their surroundings in a liberated expression of sexuality”. Okay, Gucci. Okay

Scent Description

Gucci wanted both the For Him and For Her fragrance to be an unisex scent. There’s no gender difference. So do expect a special concoction of notes, not found in your typical male or female fragrance.

For Him – The scent opens with citrusy and invigorating Lemon, which are intensified with Lavender and Patchouli. The heart is made of floral, sensual Orange Blossom to heighten the scent’s allure. Not your typical male fragrance note.

For Her – The scent is defines by a signature Fougère accord of geranium, which is commonly used in men’s scents. To bring down the manly notes, intimate and magical Lilac flower laced with Amber are added in to radiates warmth and grace with a powerful lasting impression

You see, it is truly unique. You find male scent notes in For Her, while female scent notes in For Him. This is what Gucci wanted for their Guilty fragrance line – gender equality.
