Last Sunday I spotted a special limited edition blue box of Cleo magazine May 2013 issue in collaboration with Lanvin ME at Kinokuniya. The magazine is selling for RM7 which is definitely a steal considering the normal issue would be RM6 per copy. This collaboration came in place in conjunction with a new fragrance launched by Lanvin – Lanvin ME.

The box is a super thick and heavy duty box in a “Tiffany blue” color that resembles the color on Lanvin ME packaging box. It does look like a blown up version of the fragrance if you ask me.

The magazine and other booklet supplements are all wrapped in another layer of transparent plastic which I’ve removed for this picture. As you can see it’s not tight fitting. There’s some loose gap around the magazine so yes the box is larger than the magazine.

For just RM7 not only you get a hard box which you can reuse for other storing purposes, you also get 3 different reads.

The usual Cleo magazine is of course included, with this Lanvin ME collaboration you’ll also get a Lanvin “My Diary” booklet and lastly a Sephora beauty booklet, a miniature 4.5ml of Lanvin ME fragrance (yay!) and a complimentary Starbucks iced coffee voucher.

Now, we all know we buy this magazine probably in bulk because of one thing. The miniature fragrance that was included. Am I right?

As I said earlier this special box comes with the latest Lanvin ME miniature 4.5ml.

The miniature is the exact replica of the actual full size except for the dangling rhinestone on gold chain at the bottle neck. But of course, it’s a miniature. The baby version

Another thing to take note is the Lanvin ME My Diary booklet that comes with every copy / box.

The reason why the special My Diary booklet is included is because there is an ongoing contest happening to win great prizes from Lanvin!

All you need to do is to turn to the middle page of the booklet. It is a blank double page spread.
1) Do up the most creative collage that you can with the title ABOUT ME. The collage picture must be the pictures that best personify you and what you love the most in this world.
2) Then describe your ABOUT ME collage using these four words – Glamorous, Divine, Sublime and Fashion.
3) Mail your entries to the details as stated in the booklet! It’s easy right?

Well, not so new :). I was late in this review after attending the fragrance launch somewhere in August. Sorry! But I have a reason for the delay.

It is a fact that perfume review is very subjective. Everyone is different. It’s either you love it or hate it. On the launch day itself I had migrain since morning. You might have guessed that on that day I was very sensitive to almost everything. Food I like smelt horrible to me, laptop screen too bright although I adjusted it to the lowest brightness and of course perfume is too strong and makes me giddy. That was exactly what happen with this lovely Jeanne LANVIN Couture perfume. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not bad until I was giddy. It’s the migrain! 

When I reached Spanish Steps Pavilion KL (where the launch is) I was already excited. Add that excitement to migrain and you’d get a giddy me. When I was given a bow band to take a sniff and when the new fragrance was spritz to the air…it was fresh and sweet and it does smells good. Please remind me not to take deeeeeeeppp breath next time at fragrance launch when I’m having migrain k? Maybe I took too much of a sniff at the bow band on my wrist, I started to get dizzy LOL!! I knew immediately it wasn’t the perfume. So, the big question is. Does it smell good? I’ll tell you what I think…BELOW

Alright. The packaging, bottle etc review. What I like about the box packaging is that I get a cardboard outer box sleeve, a plastic wrapper, the box and inner box which is slightly corrugated to protect and to let the bottle sit securely inside. Very secure considering the bottle is made from glass and heavy!

The bottle. Absolute gorgeous. The bottle is a square 2-tone color with Jeanne LANVIN grosgrain fabric label on the middle while decorated with a deep purple ribbon box on the neck of the bottle, created by Artistic Director Alber Elbaz Lanvin. The bottle fits perfectly on the palm of my hand. Heavy but steadily. I always remind myself not to drop it lol! I’m clumsy at times so I’d normally sit on my bed while handling this gorgeous.

The silver cap is well-made and felted heavy. I like the frosty embossed Jeanne Lanvin emblem on top of the cap.

Removed the silver cap and you’d find the spray nozzle. I twisted the nozzle facing to the back of the bottle so that I don’t stain the purple ribbon bow when I’m using it.

Talking about quality. Everything of the perfume is so well-made with high quality material and that includes the deep purple ribbon bow. At first I was worried that if I accidentally “untied” the ribbon I’m not going to be able to create the same perfect bow as this but I was relieve to know that it’s not “tied” to the neck of the bottle. There’s a rubber band attached to the back of the ribbon and the band is looped to the neck!

I’m still loving my ribbon bow band that was handed to me during the launch. Till now the scent is still on the bow. This EDP perfume really lasts long.

Now. I did mentioned that I was dizzy at the launch right? I was right. It was the migrain because I used this perfume to work 2 days after the launch. Just 2 spritz and the scent lasts till the end of the day. Perfumer Domitille Bertier said that “The challenge consisted in not betraying the sparkling signature of the original perfume, while adding a couture radiance”. The scent of this new fragrance is a variety blend of the different elements of flowers and fruit.

Scent note description:-
Top Note of the fragrance – provide juicy and tasty raspberry accords, refreshed with morning dew and natural shades of violet leaves.
The Middle Note – is more of a sexy and very sensual, composed of peony flowers and magnolia essences from Laboratories Monique Rémy.
The Base Note – are Cedar and they provide unique sensibility mixed perfectly with musk. The composition was created with an aim to have an innocent facade hiding a strong and sensual blend of musk and wood.

I was suppose to smell sweet scent as soon as I spritz the perfume but funny part is I only can smell the musky scent which was suppose to be the base note. Once the perfume settled on me then only I can smell this fruity scent. As time passed by the musky scent is pretty much obvious until the end. I’m not a fan of fruity scent but I’m okay with musky scent. It took me several use before I decided that I actually like this. It’s young, it’s sweet, it’s musky and it’s couture.

Some of you that subscribed for Fabulous Finds August box will get a vial of this fragrance. Do you like the sweet, musky scent?

2 weeks ago I was invited to the launch of Jeanne Lanvin Couture fragrance at Spanish Steps Pavilion KL. The scene at the launch is absolute breath taking. After registering myself I made my way to the launch area. I was given a voting card upon registration as there’s showcase of dresses designed by Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) students. So we are suppose to cast our vote. Just so you know…Lanvin partnered with Parkson and Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) for the launch.

I didn’t managed to take picture of all the dresses as I was on the phone settling some work issue. Only managed to snap this.

Every dress is placed next to it’s original design sketch and poster with Jeanne Lanvin Couture fragrance in the middle.

Ellen who’s the master mind behind the successful launch is also the emcee of the day. Does she looked familiar? That’s because I blogged about her before in Guerlain Bloggers Get-Together With Maxime Poulin. She’s the model of the day :). But that day I get to see the other side of Ellen.

The beautiful Un Lu; Division General Manager of Luxasia (M) Sdn Bhd was invited to gave a short speech. I say she’s a charismatic person!

Marine Obin-Ratto was then invited to deliver her speech and also to introduce the new fragrance to all of us.

We were then introduced to the panel of judges for the best dress design.

We were given a ribbon bow wrist band to sniff the new fragrance.

Then the judges make their round choosing their favorites.

Not long after that the winners are announced.
At 3rd Place is Liew Chee Yeng who won a RM2,000! 

2nd Place winner is Lye Chi Xian who won himself a RM3,000!

1st Price winner goes to Tan You Sheng who won RM4,000!

Here’s something we don’t hear often. The Editor’s Choice. And the winner is Liew Jia Wen/ Ng Yen Hong.  Congratulations all!

I will review the fragrance soon. More detail about the notes too.
