Breakout Skincare Routine Full
Recently I had a bad breakout. I’m still breaking out till to this day, can you believe it? This has got to be my longest, most miserable breakout of all these years. So I took a drastic change with my skincare routine. Because I have not had breakout like this for years, I was actually clueless as to what to do.

The first thing I did was to stop everything I was using and re-plan my new skincare routine. The key is to go back to basic. But what? I start from the cleanser and move upwards. And these are what I had come out with.

Day time routine

To me day time was the easiest to plan. I don’t really pile up a lot of skincare products as I was before. So it was just cleanser, toner, eye care, beauty oil, moisturizer and sunscreen.

Breakout Skincare Routine Day Time
Cleanser – Neal’s Yard Remedies Deliciously Ella Rose, Lime & Cucumber Facial Wash
This one is easy. It is my existing cleanser and I’m ran out as I’m typing this. It’s very mild, doesn’t foam up a lot but does a good job in cleansing the face.

Lotion – Estée Lauder Micro Essence
Micro Essence is actually my night time toner and I’m also using it in the day time. When used along with ANR, the result is amazing. Alone on itself it is just any other lotion, only more sticky and moisturizing lol.

Eye Care – Clarins Enchancing Eye Lift Serum
I’m trying to get through this as this eye serum is not enough when used alone. As it is a serum, it is recommended to use alongside an eye cream. You know me, I’m lazy these days 😛

Beauty Oil – Trilogy No. 15 Limited Edition Beauty Oil
I should stop using this beauty oil as well and be on a super basic regimen but since I just started using it, I didn’t want to leave it alone. It’s harmless and such a waste if I stop using it so there you have it.

Moisturizer – Clarins White Plus Pure Translucency Brightening Emulsion
I have a theory with breakout. You MUST implement at least one whitening skincare in your skincare regimen so that the marks are easier to tone down or get rid off. I never ever ever go on with my day without any whitening product. I find that by using a whitening product, the marks are less red and heals faster 🙂

Sunscreen – Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++
And of course, always end your day skincare routine with a sunscreen. I’m always on min SPF50. Nothing less. Recently I took out this Murad’s new sunscreen to use. It’s slightly tinted and heavy on the skin. Not my favourite at the beginning but it grew on me. Now, I like how it makes my skin healthy.

Forea Luna Play Plus
This is a new toy I purchase recently from Sephora. I’m using it once a day aka in the morning after I woke up and it makes my skin so smooth and glowy. Weird. It works!

Night time routine

From cleanser to moisturizer there are only 6 products, same as the day time. I thought it’s more. Hmmm.

Breakout Skincare Routine Night Time
Cleanser – Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser
I really like self-foaming cleanser. Recent discovery and love is this one from Caudalie. Night time is the time I really indulge in my beauty routine. Even this cleanser which I’ve been saving is only meant for night time as I’m scared I ran out lol.

Eye Care – Clarins Enchancing Eye Lift Serum
Nothing different here compared to day time. Still the same product for the eyes but sometimes I do stray to others. Sometimes 🙂

Lotion – Estée Lauder Micro Essence
Same as day time, Micro Essence is the essential as I’m pairing it with ANR.

Serum – Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Now, this is the main key product in the whole Breakout Skincare Routine. As I was re-planning my entire skincare routine, I was thinking hard on one product that can help with skin rejuvenation. I mean, most of the anti-aging products claimed to be one but I only knew ANR would work and worked before. So I bust into a brand new Limited Edition Golden ANR bottle from the Monkey year. Nothing feels as good as a brand new bottle of ANR haha.

Beauty Oil – Trilogy No. 15 Limited Edition Beauty Oil
Because I was using this beauty oil in the day, why not continue at night as well? Plus I feel more moisturized if I had this on to sleep.

Moisturizer – L’Occitane Reine Blanche Whitening Rich Cream
Like I said, I must have at least one whitening product to reduce acne marks and to accelerate the healing process. This cream is potent! It’s not drying for the skin and does a good job. I still do ended up with breakout marks but I believe it will be gone in no time with continuous use of this cream. I’m left with just a medium blob. Hope it will last me lol.

Treatment

Breakout Skincare Routine Treatment
On every alternate days, I would be putting one some kind of mask. The only I can’t stop using is the L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask Anti-Pores. I don’t care what people say about PRC made or UK made. This is what I can get in Malaysia and that’s what I’ll be using. Other masks on rotation are REN Evercalm™ Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask (review here) which works in calming down the skin or redness,Dr. Brand Magnetight Skin Recharging Magnet Mask (review here) to suck out all the impurities from the pores, and hella lots of sheet mask. The one I’m currently using are of course from my LoveFace X #IWillBeOkay collaboration box 🙂

Tell me, what do you do when you have breakout? Do you stop using everything or do you go back to the basic 3-steps?

L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush P3 Rose Affair 1
I first spotted the L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush at Guardian store almost three months ago, together with a few other L’Oréal new products. The idea of a cushion blush is really intriguing especially now that everything is ‘cushionized’ 😀 . Did I pick it up on the spot? Nope. The price of RM49.90 is the reason why. I have a whole box of new blushes at home and having to spend 50 bucks for a new blush is just not my priority at that time. I am glad I did not pick any up as L’Oréal gave me one at the L’Oréal Paris Makeup Designer new tagline and product launch.

Overall, L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush is available in three shades only – P3 Rose Affair (a light everyday pink), P2 Pink Fantasia (bright pink), and C1 Sunkissed Coral. I was given the shade P3 Rose Affair, which is just right down my alley when it comes to blush. Just like any other cushion product, Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush is packaged in a bulky cushion case similar to a BB Cushion. It has a plastic cover to prevent the cushion and product from drying, and an air puff.

L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush P3 Rose Affair 2
The shade P3 Rose Affair looks like a coral shade looking at the cushion itself but in fact it is a straight up pink. The rubbery air puff is quite well made. It fits two of my fingers, exactly the way how I like to hold my puff.

L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush P3 Rose Affair 3
Now, the product itself is quite watery. The puff does soak up quite a lot of product if you were to press it down on the cushion too hard. Go light handed. Just a light dab will do. You can always repeat when needed. Because the product is wet, somehow it lift up my powder and foundation as I dab it on my cheek. This happened to me several times. It could be because I dab on too much on my puff. I am not too sure.

I can understand why it is wetter than other normal cream blush or BB Cushion. The name of the blush is afterall “glow”. It is meant to give the cheek a dewy natural glow. The colour payoff I would say is light to medium, depending on the shade you are using. P3 Rose Affair is definitely the lightest shade of all three. The shade defines glow from within truly. It contain a signature Byron Liquid Light that brightens the complexion in just one tap. It’s soft-tone pigments infused in the watery cushion gives the skin a diffused effect.

L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush P3 Rose Affair 4
If you are a clean freak and germaphobic like me, you will find the puff above disturbing lol. Gosh I cannot stand it. I feel like washing it all the time but I am also scared washing will ruin the puff. Let me get a few replacement puff first before trying to wash it 😛

I never knew I would like a wet blush at all but I did. This L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush saved so much of my time applying blush. You have no idea. It is so time saving and easy to use. Just dab dab dab from the apples of my cheek all the way up to my temple and I am done. So easy and fast. It does take me a few repeated application to get the colour I want on my cheek as P3 Rose Affair is a very light pink blush. It does not shows up very well so I find the need to build coverage.

Loreal Paris Makeup Designer
With its sister brand adopting a new tagline, it is just the matter of time before L’Oréal Paris does the same. I was right. L’Oréal Paris revealed a brand new identity last week for its makeup products. They are now known as L’Oréal Paris Makeup Designer. L’Oréal want you to not just apply makeup but design your own makeup look.

Loreal Paris Makeup Designer 2
Along with the debut of L’Oréal Paris Makeup Designer, beauty enthusiasts can now express their personalities through the love of colours and discover the art of makeup from Paris through these three aspects:

  • L’Architecture Du Teint (Face Architect): The skin is a canvas. Beautiful canvas is flawless skin, yet glow from within. It should be accentuated with subtle hints of colour.
  • L’Art Du Regard (Eye Artistry): Eyes are the window to the soul. Let it do the talking. With a flick of a brush, the eyes are easily accentuated in a few steps and watch it come alive with any look you have in mind.
  • La Obsession De La Couleur (Color Obsession): Work with a dream colour palette and take it beyond your imagination, leaving lips with richness of colour. Create, enhance, reveal and flaunt your mood.

8 New Exciting Product Launches

Through this event I realized one obvious thing. And that is L’Oréal Paris had improved their makeup products. Even a few recent drugstore visits recently confirmed my thoughts on L’Oréal makeup. You might already seen this at the drugstore but I am still excited that L’Oréal Paris launched EIGHT brand new makeup products at once! Wow Nelly!

True Match Genius Two Way Cake (RM59.90, available in 7 shades)

Loreal True Match Genius Two Way Cake
I first saw this two way cake from Click Network on YouTube. I thought Singapore was way ahead of us with new launches but nope. We have it here too! This is a smart foundation hence the name ‘Genius’, with four benefits in one. It smoothes the skin like a primer, unifies and glides on more precisely than liquid foundation, it covers 100% of the imperfections like concealer, and finishes just like a velvety powder. I have been dying to break into this so I will report back on the review soon 😉

Lucent Magique Cushion Blush (RM49.90, available in 3 shades)

Loreal Magique Cushion Blush
If you are following me on Instagram, you would have already seen this. This one got everyone super excited. BB Cushion is nothing new but a BB Blush? Now, that got everyone jumped up in excitement. It has this thing called the signature Byron Liquid Light that brightens the complexion in just one tap. It’s soft-tone pigments infused in the watery cushion gives the skin a diffused effect. Skin stays dewy for hours, just like the BB Cushion thanks to the mineral water.

Color Riche La Palette Nude (RM89.90, available in 2 shades)

Loreal Color Riche La Palette Nude
Also first seen from my Instagram, there are a new palette that comes in two different tone palettes – one in neutral tone and one in rose tone. Each palette comes with 10 pigmented mixed shades consisting of shimmery satin, buttery matte to lustrous sheen, from light to dark. And each palette is made especially to suit all skin tone. When I first saw this palette, I couldn’t decide which I like. Nude or Rose. Both are so pretty. I think I am more of a Rose tone palette girl as I have a lot of neutral palette at home.

False Lash Superstar Mascara (RM58.90)

Loreal False Lash Superstar Mascara and Superstar Liner Impact Felt Liner
This is a duo-brush mascara. One end is a super-sizing primer that are enriched with lash serum to thicken lashes, gives volume to the lashes and prep the lashes for next step. The other end brush is shaped like an eyelash curler which the curved lifting brush works by applying black, fiber-rich product on each primed lash.

Superstar Liner Impact Felt Liner (RM35.90)

Shaped like a calligraphy pen, the tip is flexible to glide on the eyelid shape for effortless application. It allows you to adjust and adapt the thickness of the eyeliner in one single movement. It is a highly pigmented deep black, which we all would love to death.

Color Riche Extraordinaire Matte (RM42.30, available in 10 shades)

Loreal Color Riche Extraordinaire Matte
Matte lipstick is my absolute favourite. However this Color Riche Extraordinaire Matte is a velvety matte that does not dries down complete matte as it is formulated with 4 precious oils that prime your lips and prevent drying or peeling. It kind of reminds me of this one. The pointy, huge sponge tip brush however is my favourite. It makes the application precise and distributes the product evenly.

CC Balm Genius (RM23.90, available in 10 shades)

Loreal CC Balm Genius
This is the first tint-in-balm that combines multiple benefits for colour, care and shine. It is an intelligent lip balm that features a unique ‘Cocktail Supreme’ formula that correct lip dullness thanks to the blend of micro-corrective genius oils. It also hydrates the lips with its natural spa oils for up to 12 hours.

Glam Shine Balm (RM23.90, available in 3 shades)

Loreal Glam Shine Balm
This balm AND gloss are infused with nourishing flower extracts to moisturized the lips. It is afterall a balmy gloss so do expect a shiny finishing. The colour payoff are sheer but fresh-looking. So if you are looking for a product that allows on the go, mirror-free application, this is the one! I would suggest getting the darker shades as they colour payoff is prettier and visible.

Now that I have covered all eight new exciting product launches, there is another news. And that is L’Oréal Makeup Genius App.

Loreal Makeup Genius App
New direction means new way to experience makeup. And that is experiencing makeup in augmented reality. Makeup Genius features one of the kind exclusive technology from major Hollywood studios. The application let you create your own look and try all the ready-to-wear looks which was curated by L’Oréal Paris makeup artists. Looking at your smartphone or devices is like looking into the mirror. It is so real that you can move around crazily and the makeup look moves along with your face on the phone. Now that defines “try before buy”. Go download now and have lots of fun with it. Available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play 😀

How many of you could not stop buying foundation? Raise your hand! I am one of them but I try to control. So far I have succeeded and has been doing a good job in an attempt to finish up my current foundation stash. Having said that, I do have the tendency to buy makeup products that are not available in Malaysia. Among the things I want is two foundation, one from L’Oreal and one from Maybelline. The one I really really want is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
I was lucky to stumbled upon an Instagram seller that has the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation ready stock. It is almost impossible to find seller that will stock up ready stocks so after debating with my own devil in the mind for a few hours, I bought it. I have heard that finding the right shade for this foundation is a bit tricky as there are 12 shades in total. This foundation is only available oversea so the shades are more or less customized to their skin colours and I’m an Asian! I must admit I was terrified. I usually go for the lightest shade but this time, the lightest shade is too pinkish for me so I went for 103 Natural Buff, which is the 3rd lightest shade my seller has.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation offers up to 24 hours matte but not flat coverage. It has a light consistency with demi-matte finish. When it said “light consistency”, that means this foundation is not a full coverage foundation. I have been reading tons of review on this foundation saying it’s crazy matte on them despite the demi-matte claim. Understandably other countries tend to be colder than Malaysia thus the full matte on them. Because of all the reviews, I was expecting this foundation to be REALLY matte on me 😀

On me, this foundation is not full coverage on first try. I was using a brush. It is also quite streaky when used with a brush. It sets as soon as you have your brush glides on your skin. I was surprised as I have never used anything like that before. It is crazy matte on me immediately after application. Because of this, my forehead wrinkles became very visible mid-way through my makeup routine and those nasty lines does not disappear even after 12 hours! I was frustrated. No matter how I brush them away, my forehead wrinkles just stay creasing all day. I was thinking that a stippling brush would be a great brush to use with the foundation so I bought a Real Techniques Stippling Brush and I love it. It really does gives an airbrush finishing as claimed by Real Techniques. Then I remember Desi Perkins was saying that she prefer to use a beauty blender with this foundation as it’s too drying on her so I tried the method and guess what? I love this foundation even more with a beauty blended. It takes away the matteness a bit during application so it does not settles into dry patches or wrinkles as much as using a brush.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation Before and After
103 Natural Buff is a teeny bit too dark on me so I always have to apply the foundation further down my neck, which I do not really like as it stains my necklace and dress. If I don’t, I will look 1-2 tone darker. I did not find this foundation to oxidize on me during the mid day. As for the mattifying effect, it was alright. Not as matte as I thought it would be. My nose still turns oily an hour after makeup but the rest of the face region stays matte. By the end of the day my inner cheeks, forehead and chin are oily as usual.

I cannot make up my mind if I like this foundation or not. I find this to be pretty similar to Bourjois Air Mat foundation except that Air Mat is more dewy and yellowish than Infallible Pro-Matte. After using both foundation alternately for the consecutive 2 weeks, I prefer L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation more 🙂 . Oh and I must tell you about the scent. It does have a woody scent to it but it does not bothers me that much 🙂

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation After

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation is not available in Malaysia.

Price: RM58 for 30ml

I bought this foundation from amazinc.my. Click on the name if you want to find out what other products the seller is selling.

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored review. I bought the product on my own.
