One thing for sure is that I get foundation or any other makeup on my dress every single morning. I kinda forget that I have it on the back of my hand. Foundation is one of the most stubborn stain to get rid of dress due to the fact that I don’t hard scrub my work dresses or it could be that my mum wasn’t paying attention to makeup stain on my dress? Long story cut short, I wanted to get a mixing palette badly. I kinda like MAKE UP FOR EVER one but knowing it’s MUFE, it means it will be expensive. I’m not going to spend a lot on a mixing palette. I knew Inglot had it too so the choices now is to either bite the bullet or don’t get it at all. One day I decided to email MAKE UP FOR EVER awesome PR and Marketing girl to enquire on the prices and let’s just say I literally dash over to MAKE UP FOR EVER Starhill boutique the next day and purchased it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette Large Size
MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette comes in two sizes – a Small size 126mm x 75mm and a Large size 163mm x 106mm. The price differences is only RM5 apart so you bet I got the Large size for RM25. I have no idea why I was stressing myself thinking it would be expensive. It was surprisingly not. That explains the dashing to the store 😀

Now the palette. It is made from lightweight aluminium. It fits nicely on my palm. It’s not finger print-proof and I’m particular with finger prints so most of the time I hold my palette like this.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette Size on Palm
On days where I was rushing, I sometimes hold it like this.

Despite being a steel palette, it is not scratch-proof as well. I’m one clumsy girl so I do bump and drop this palette on the table most of the time. I spend a great amount of time to beware of what I was doing so that I can avoid dropping it 😀

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette Holding
Why large and not the small palette? First it’s the price. Why get the small one when I can get the large palette with just RM5 extra. Second of all is because I knew I need lots of space to swirl my foundation flat top kabuki brush on the palette. Turns out I was right. Foundation alone already occupied top half of the palette. Besides foundation, I used it for everything you can think of i.e. concealer, eyebrow gel, eyeshadow, lipstick and so on.

As for cleaning, it used to be a hard task for me. I was using dry tissue until one day I took a look at my miceller cleansing water sitting on the table top next to me. And if you know me well you will know that I seldom use cleansing water to remove my makeup. So I would pump some onto a piece of tissue (sometimes cotton pad) and wipe down all product residue off the palette. It works so well in removing the oil substance from the foundation and so on. Of course you could also use wet wipes to clean the palette. The choice is up to you 🙂

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette Mixing Medium v2
I wouldn’t say everyone need this mixing palette. This MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette is listed under the PRO category. It make sense afterall makeup artists are the one who would probably use this the most. I chose to use this due to various reasons especially the hygiene purpose. I really don’t like to get my hands dirty when I do makeup. You’ll never know where I’ll accidentally wipe it to. I’m serious.

This palette is also great for those who are into mixing shades. There are people who have difficulty in getting the right foundation shade for the skin tone so shade mixing is the only choice for them. Alternatively, you can also use a clean CD to do all the mixing if you prefer not to get a PRO palette like this one 🙂

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette is available at MAKE UP FOR EVER boutique only.

Price (the price I know before GST):
+ Small (126mm x 75mm) – RM20
+ Large (163mm x 106mm) – RM25

I’ve never been a fan of any pencil eyeliner at all. I gave up on pencil eyeliner a few years ago after wasting money on countless brands that never fail to smudge on me. Ever since I started watching YouTube, I notice that quite a number of beauty guru prefer pencil eyeliner than liquid eyeliner. It is understandable due to skin type and weather differences. So why are you reading this if I’ve given up on pencil eyeliner, eh? The story goes like this. I went back to work not too long ago and since it’s a different office environment, I no longer have the privilege to do my makeup in the office. So I have to rush everything in the morning and doing a precise eyeliner using a liquid pen is too time consuming for me especially when I’m doing my makeup in a dark room.

Today I’m going to share with you my favourite pencil eyeliners, tips, tricks and three different application method that you can master too.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner and Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes
I have oily lid so kohl or normal pencil eyeliner will not work on my lid. The only two brands and type that I find doesn’t smudge on me are Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner and MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes. I bought these from their 2014 holiday collection but fret not, these are permanent so you can get it from Sephora anytime.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner is probably the highest raved and talk about. However I don’t like the twist mechanic. I had one from Stila In The Know palette and I thought it was faulty. In the end I ruined the pencil eyeliner and I still didn’t know what went wrong. When I Google for an answer then only I found out that the twisting mechanic is different from others. It requires a few rounds of twisting to get the lead up and once it’s up, it won’t go down again. It’s a one-way twist mechanic. The only downside of this is that the lead will always be blunt.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes is my latest favourite. Their AQUA series is my absolute favourite as it is made to withhold water, sweat and sebum. At first I wasn’t keen with the need to sharpen the pencil and after using it for a few times, I’m glad I can sharpen it, unlike Stila Smudge Stick.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner and Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Differences
Stila and MAKE UP FOR EVER comes in a different packaging but the formula is quite similar. Both are extremely creamy, smooth, easy to apply, intense pigmentation and of course waterproof. Once they set, they stays on until I remove them with eye makeup remover. Somehow for pencil eyeliner, I’m not keen with black. Instead I opt for brown or any color that is dark enough to give my eyes definition. Just not black black.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner and Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Swatches
I think I have around 10 pieces of Stila Smudge Stick and MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes that I’m constantly thinking of different method to use them. At the moment I’m on three different method. It’s very simple. Once you know the trick, you will find yourself having fun using pencil eyeliner that you didn’t want to go back to liquid eyeliner like I do.

Inner Lash Line & Waterline Lining

How to apply pencil eyeliner - Inner Lining
Let’s begin with a simple and versatile method that even somebody that doesn’t put on makeup will be able to do in a jiffy. There is a gap between the upper lash line with inner lash line and waterline. Just take a brow comb or a cotton bud, place it on the lid and gently press down to reveal the inner lash line. Line the inner lash line entirely. I like to go all the way to waterline as well. You will notice that the eyes are more awaken, fresh, bigger and more define when you line the inner lash line. I like to do this when I don’t feel well because I can just swipe on a light eye shadow on the entire lid and off to work. All these are done in less than 5 minutes.

Winged Eyeliner

How to apply pencil eyeliner - Winged
This is probably the one method that I do on daily basis and it’s my favourite too. Most beauty guru prefer to do winged eyeliner using pencil because of the softer look and opaque matte finishing the pencil gives. I have friends telling me that they like to use pencil eyeliner but they can’t do a flick at the end. Yes you can. Just use the cellotape method. You can start any way you like but I always start with the flick first. Line the inner lash line and waterline as well. And who say it’s hard with pencil eyeliner, eh? In fact this method is way easier and faster than liquid eyeliner.

Smokey Eyeliner

How to apply pencil eyeliner - Smokey v2
I learnt this trick a few years ago from Burberry makeup artist, Adrian Sin. In fact, I’ve done a tutorial post before 🙂 . This is probably a method that I can be hooked for weeks because it’s really very simple and fast. When working with pencil eyeliner, always remember to work fast. Do one eye at a time. Simply just draw a line on the upper lash line. The line doesn’t need to be precise. Then use a small smudge brush and start smudging the eyeliner up. I like to add more eyeliner near the lash line for more definition. Then apply any shade of eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner. The best part of this look is that nothing need to be precise. Don’t forget the inner lash line and waterline as well.

Sounds and look easy isn’t it? It is. All you need is a little creativity and you can make something work at the simplest and easiest way. Try these method and let me know how it goes! 😀

Soooo. I’ve totally missed October and November 2014 favourites. I went back to working life and I didn’t expect to be home that late and the need to work on weekend as well. For the past one month, I’ve totally missed all the usual blogging schedule. I’d be lying to you if I tell you I didn’t panic. I did. I tried adjusting my life back to blogging but I really couldn’t find the time. There was so much to do and catch up on weekend. I didn’t even have the time to take photo for the blog. It is a tough time for me so please bear with me for a little while more. I want to thank each and every one of you for the never ending support and love. You girls rocks! <3

Since I missed October and November 2014 favourites, I thought it only make sense for me to post up December 2014 Favourites sooner than expected otherwise I’d miss it again. This month is all about the eyeliner pencils. It really is. Until I started to dig out my other favourites to balance out the eyeliner pencil overload LOL.

December 2014 Favourites 1

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette (Large)
I’ve been wanting a mixing palette for quite some time. The one I wanted is MAKE UP FOR EVER but I always thought it’s expensive. I knew Inglot have it too but I don’t want Inglot’s lol. I think of this day and night and even dreamt of it (see, I think too much) and so one day I emailed the lady at MUFE to ask for the price. To my surprise, she told me the small one cost RM20 while the large one cost RM25. I bought the large flat steel palette and I think I will be going back for the small one. Actually the large one is just perfect. I have a room to hold the palette, to swirl my foundation brush on a section, another section for eyebrow gel and so on. I’m just itching to get the small one as collection 🙂 . I’ve been using this everyday since I got it. I never use the back of my hand for foundation or for any makeup product anymore.

December 2014 Favourites 2
Small Glass Container
You see this coming didn’t you? 🙂 . This container is also something that I’ve wanted since the first day I step into SSF. The price tag? RM79.90! It’s crazy expensive although I think member price is RM69.90? I can’t remember. It is still expensive. I’m glad I hold on to not purchasing it because this container was on sale for RM39.90 (members only) from 10th Oct until 2nd Nov 2014. I couldn’t make up my mind if I want to purchase it and finally I drove to SSF Puchong on the last day and grab one. I’m glad I did because it is so pretty. I used this to keep all my cosmetic cotton bud because the larger container that you see on the back is too heavy to be lifted up everyday. I might risk dropping the lid and broke it hehe. The container is so shiny that my camera just couldn’t focus on it. Sigh.

December 2014 Favourites 3
Guerlain Météorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder
Despite owning four Guerlain Meteorites product at the moment, I don’t use it very often now as I’m constantly rushing out the door and this step is not so important. However when I’m feeling luxury, I’d reach out for this pressed version instead. I saved a lot of time swirling the brush into the can because this pressed powder doesn’t require much effort in getting the product onto the brush. Wulong is actually more shimmery than the rest I own so a quick dusting is all I need. I also happen to like this more. For some reason I see a better result as to compare with others.

December 2014 Favourites 4
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes, Stila Smudge Stick & Wet n’ Wild Coloricon Brow & Eye Liner
It’s all about eyeliner pencils for me this month. I don’t have the luxury to do liquid eyeliner so pencil is a quicker solution for me. I have a Stila Smudge Stick but I sort of messed up the twist mechanic and wasted the whole lead so I have to get new one. I bought a set of Stila Flawless Gems Smudge Stick Trio and a set of MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Duo Set that comes with two 25L Matte Brown. I absolutely love all of it! I never imagine myself liking eyeliner pencils this much until I bought five at one go. When Wet n’ Wild is made available in SaSa IOI City Mall, I went to take a look and bought the Coloricon Brow & Eye Liner in 655 Charcoal. I thought the shade is like the ZA Ever Brows and it turns out too dark for my brow so I’m using it mainly as eyeliner and to line my upper waterline as well as in between lashes.

December 2014 Favourites 5
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
Yeap. I finally gave in to the much talked about Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. I was waiting for Net-a-Porter to re-offer free express shipping and finally it came back on Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale. This blush palette was retailing for USD68.13 but I paid USD61.94. Probably due to the sale event. After convertion, the palette cost RM215. Ouch! The palette is quite small. Each blush pan is even more smaller than expected. However I do admit it’s way worthy to get this than the single that’s retailing for USD45. What’s funny about this palette is that I always always always over applied it. I do my makeup in a dark room at 6am in the morning so I can’t really see anything and kept on applying. What I’m amazed is, eventhough I over applied the blush, I still look good and glowy. It also gave me a cheek line. What’s not to love right?

December 2014 Favourites 6
MAKE UP FOR EVER 124 Powder Kabuki
I have had this kabuki for a few months now and it’s sitting in my drawer since then. This kabuki is specially designed to work hand-in-hand with MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Powder. I finally bought a full size MUFE HD Powder from Zalora’s 12.12 Online Fever sale so I happily took the kabuki out, gave it a good bath and used it with the powder. It’s AMAZING. So soft, doesn’t remove the foundation that was on my face and it doesn’t need a lot of product to work on. Why do I took this long to use it eh?

December 2014 Favourites 7

That’s my December 2014 favourites! Oh well it actually contain a bit of October and November as well. I do have more products that I’ve been enjoying but I plan to review them so I didn’t include them here in the favourites. November and December is also the busiest month for us beautyholics as most of the holiday collection and value set is out. What have you been loving recently? I’m trying very hard to forbid myself for buying too much. It is really hard. I managed to deter from buying a few as of now. I can’t guarantee I can stay this way for long haha 😀

Fiona, Fiona. You never learn from experience isn’t it? After my awful 2nd online shopping experience with MySale several months ago, I vowed not to spend a single dime at MySale anymore. Here’s the story. I have RM30 voucher which will be expiring pretty soon and I just want to let the voucher burn. Until I saw Christmas candle in the Home & Living section. I’m obsessing over candles for the past few months. All the YouTubers (my main influencers) are talking about Christmas candle or Pumpkin Spice and I desperately wanted a few. I couldn’t find any Christmas scent candle in KL and MySale had it. That was before I found out about Yankee Candle availability in Malaysia so you can save the nagging 😛 . And please no Diptique candle talk because it’s too expensive for me to burn my money with. I burn candle like no tomorrow so oh God no.

MySale Copenhagen Candle
As you can see from above photo, I only ordered two candle – Christmas Spice and Christmas Tree. Both is very Christmas-y, very huge and they came with three wick, which is always good for a big candle like this.

I’m so lazy to talk about delivery but since there has been some changes with the courier company, I thought I should update you too. MySale FINALLY ditched ABX and go with GDex. I was thrilled to learnt that it’s GDex that is delivery the parcel but then I remembered my brother’s experience with GDex. Apparently the branch near me was a lazy one. They would hold the parcel for days even to a week and then simply state in the system “No One At Home”. Here’s the thing. Both my parents are at home on weekday. On weekend we make sure at least one person is at home because your home girl has been online shopping every single day so there’s at least a parcel per day. Yeah I know. I’ve been naughty. So my parcel has been stuck in GDex since 8th December. The system state “Out for Delivery” and I would go home to no parcel awaiting for me. I finally gave GDex a call yesterday (Friday) at 9.30am and they said they will send it on the same day. Within 15 minutes or so, I checked the tracking system and it was stated “No One At Home”. Wtf? So my guess is the delivery guy is too lazy to deliver and the clerk just helped him by entering that into the system. The best part is, I received a sms half an hour later requesting me to collect the parcel personally from their office. Since I’m also expecting Zalora parcel from GDex, I was lazy to argue and drove there.

I went to collect both my parcel this morning. While waiting for the girl to retrieve my parcel, I could already hear the broken glass sound while she was walking a few metres away. I knew I’d blow up big time if I were to open my parcel there and then so I decided to check my parcels in the car. I started off with Zalora parcel and it was in tip top condition. Can’t say the same with MySale parcel since I already knew it was broken. To be frank I was a little surprised to find out that one candle is not broken. So I walk back in ‘calmly’ to GDex office and showed then the broken item. I refused to let them have the item to claim because I need to submit a refund claim to MySale as well. So she took some photo and I went home with a broken candle, a new candle and my Zalora haul.

MySale Copenhagen Candle Broken
Christmas Tree scent is my most anticipated scent for Christmas 🙁

On another note (too lazy to start a new post), I once again had a good experience with Zalora. Not sure if you remember this but Zalora used to get a lot of bashing for their shitty service, delivery time, delivery, wrong item sent etc. Contrary to other people, I have had good ones with Zalora. I knew about the 12.12 Online Fever campaign a few days earlier and I happened to saw some items that never goes on sale are on sale on the 10th December. 12.12 Online Fever was scheduled to go live on the midnight actually. I placed my order on the 10th December and my parcel was shipped out the next day.

I like that Zalora used a huge box for small item and padded it with air bubble packaging to keep things in place. Zalora also include a return Poslaju slip just in case.

Zalora Return Slip
I bought a Make Up For Ever HD Powder which was on 25% OFF from the original price of RM150. I used a secret code for extra 20% and paid just RM90.40 for this. Initially I also wanted to bag HD Foundation (which was also on 25% discount) but I couldn’t remember my MUFE shade so I didn’t buy it. Also check out with a neclace from Something Borrowed.

Zalora Order
There you go. My rant on MySale again (what’s new) and another satisfied Zalora purchase. Did you spot the special discount on Sephora section in Zalora? Do share with me your haul from 12.12 Online Fever sale 😀
