You guys know, the Mamonde High Cover Liquid Cushion is my all time favourite cushion foundation. No other cushion beat that. Then Mamonde sent me the entire set of the NEW Brightening Cover Cushion that consists of two variants – Brightening Cover Powder Cushion and Brightening Cover Watery Cushion. So in this new cushion you will get to choose either a dewy finish or a velvet matte finish. Naturally, I’d lean more towards a matte finishing so this review will be based on the Brightening Cover Powder Cushion . I have high hope on this one!

Brightening Cover Cushion has 4 main features but since there are 2 variants, the features varies but still in the same category. However both of the variants shared the same feature and that is they have Mamonde’s special Brightening Cover™ Complex in it. It is said to enable a skin tone-up created that makes the skin looking “brilliant” while covering imperfections through its phospholipid coating powder in it that is similar to the skin.

Unlike the High Cover Liquid Cushion which has a net and pump feature, this New Brightening Cover Cushion is a typical cushion foundation that you seen or own. It has a sponge which soaked up all the foundation, just like every other cushion. What’s different between the Powder and Watery variant is that they both had different sponge. The Powder cushion has the Even Coverage Sponge™, while the Watery cushion has the Water Pump Sponge™. One promises an even, light coverage with peach flower powder while one promises an effective discharge of product that deeply moisturize and with high coverage.

Now get this, even the puffs are also different! I have not use the Watery cushion so I can’t tell the different. But I can tell you that the Cover Fit Puff from the Powder Cushion is kinda similar to other cushion of its competitor.

The Mamonde Brightening Cover Powder Cushion is not as high coverage as I like it to be. I always assume the word “powder” or velvet matte has more coverage than the Watery one. Turns out I was wrong. It only gives a very light coverage and doesn’t covers up acne marks. Having said that, it does a good job in evening out the uneven skin tone. If you need to conceal any blemishes, I would suggest to use a concealer thereafter.

It also has a tacky, sticky finishing. Although Mamonde said that there is no need to set it with a powder, I still do apply a layer of finishing powder just to get rid of the stickiness but even though so, it is still tacky after applying powder.

Overall, it has 5 shades in the Brightening Cover Cushion range and available in either pink base or yellow base. I am using shade No.21N Medium Beige and it is unfortunately too light on me. After I apply powder, my face become even more fairer! Whenever I have this cushion foundation on me, my face and body are in two different shade LOL. No.23N Natural Beige would suit me much better.

I don’t know how I feel about this cushion still despite using it everyday for the past few weeks. It’s like love and hate kinda relationship. First, the finishing is tacky and I’m not a fan. That was far less the issue for me than the fact that my makeup breaks up after a few hours. I wouldn’t say the Brightening Cover Powder Cushion offers a velvet matte finishing as it is definitely looking dewy. Semi-matte, maybe? And my face do get oily after 2 hours or so. If I ignore that and continue my day, my makeup starts to break up and look all patchy. I have been trying so many times to rectify the issue by trying out different primers and different powders and nothing stop the breaking up issue. Now if I know I’d be out the whole day, I wouldn’t dare to have this cushion foundation on me. But if I’m out for a short while say 2-3 hours, I can live with it

This is how Mamonde Brightening Cover Powder Cushion in shade No.21N Medium Beige looks like on me. I have tone down with lots of bronzer so that the shade matches my body haha!

I’m a fan of Mamonde makeup the minute I saw them at the pre-launch event last year. Mamonde, is known to mainly only uses flowers as its key ingredient, together with other natural ingredients in its formulation to create beautiful and efficient products, especially in their skincare range. Amorepacific, the company behind Mamonde has invested a great deal in R&D to ensure the efficacy of Mamonde products and that these products are gentle on the skin just like the characteristics of a flower.

Flower Pop Eye Brick (RM99)

Flower Pop Eye Brick is a multipurpose, portable eyeshadow quad that is developed using the highly blend-able formula alongside exquisite pearls and colours for easy eye makeup. Formulated with White Flower Complex (which comprises Madonna Lily, Edelweiss and Lily Magnolia) to help keep the skin around the eyes moisturised, it has a smooth and moist-like texture that doesn’t irritate the skin around the eye area, unlike any other ordinary eyeshadow. This baked power eyeshadow has highly-pigmented formula that blends evenly on the skin to give it a rich saturated colour without looking heavy and mottled on the eyes.

Available in 5 color variants – No.1 Golden Beige, No.2 Laura Coral, No.3 Burgundy Pansy, No.4 Pale Purple and No.5 Rosy Road.

Flower Pop Blusher (RM59)

This clear, see-through round casing Flower Pop Blusher offers an array of fresh colours to brighten up the complexion. Developed using highly pure powder materials and special grinding technology alongside an oil binder that functions to bind powder particles resulting in a clear, pure and sheer colour on the cheek, it also uses Flexible Binder System to hold powder particles in ensuring a clear and longer lasting colour on the skin surface. Contrary to other blushers, this Flower Pop Blusher contains no shimmering pearls, but it comes with a coat of camellia oil that promises a glowing complexion once applied onto the cheek.

Mamonde Flower Pop Blusher, which also comes with floral fragrances, comes in 6 different shades of colours – No.1 Pansy, No.3 Daisy, No.5 Peony, No.6 Camellia, No.7 Rose Bay, No.8 Ginger.

Mamonde 6th Beauty Counter at Parkson KLCC Reflects New Brand Concept ‘Journey of Flowers’

Mamonde latest brand concept ‘Journey of Flowers’ debuted earlier this year when Mamonde’s flagship store in Myeong-dong, Seoul, Korea received a facelift with a fresh new interior design as well as new customer experience through various brand and product touch points within the store. Ands Malaysia’s 6th beauty counter at Parkson KLCC is a reflection of the brand new concept. When it comes to cushion foundation, I only have one top favourite. It puzzled me how cushion foundation dries up so fast. As if it we were in a warp speed or something. The April Skin cushion that I have been saving for special event use only is barely useable now and I have only used it not more than 5 times! Sulwhasoo or even Innisfree lasts longer than that. Then, came along this new Mamonde High Cover Liquid Cushion.

I am not into BB Cream in general regardless whatever form it comes in, especially if it comes in a cushion. However that is a different story when it comes to liquid cushion. I can jump straight to the end of my review now telling you that this Mamonde High Cover Liquid Cushion hits all the check list I have for cushion product. This, I like!

Mamonde did a research and found that consumers nowadays have higher hopes or requirement when it comes to foundation. The key word is good coverage. We want a good coverage base makeup that covers all our blemishes, pores, scars or even wrinkles and yet still looks like our own skin. Hence High Cover Liquid Cushion was developed to address these two issues – sheer coverage and cakey makeup. If you think “meh, this is just another cushion”, well you are wrong. Think again. Yes the name cushion remains as it does comes in a cushion-looking compact. But this cushion does not have the cushion sponge soaked with foundation. It has a Mesh Filtering System™ with airless pump!

As you take the puff and press it onto the mesh top of the cushion, the airless pump releases the foundation upward. Just 1-2 pumps is enough to discharge sufficient amount of foundation. This Mesh Filtering System™ works like a sifter. It has 1,000+ mesh holes to discharge the foundation without clumps. But that also has something to do with the special puff, which I will explain below. What this mesh top does is that it allows the content to be discharged in an appropriate amount for a decent coverage minus the cakey look.

The puff is equally important when it comes to cushion product. I find the conventional puff is too thin and it gets soggy too fast. It is washable alright but not easy. And it never works the same after washing. Yes I do know you can buy the puff now separately. I have bought a few spares too. So far I only like two puff from two different cushion foundation brand. Sulwhasoo make good, airy and fluffy puff. But it still gets soggy after a few usage. April Skin make a similar puff as Sulwhasoo and it’s better. It is fluffier and does not get soggy after a few usage. Now, this Mamonde High Cover Liquid Cushion puff is as good as April Skin, if not better. It is called the Flower Fit Puff.

This Flower Fit Puff measures at 1.5mm thick for the light makeup look. If you need a heavier coverage, it is easily achievable with repeating the process. No it does not get cakey or heavy. Reason being is that the foundation is only present on the surface of the puff. I have been using this product for several time and it really does what it claimed to be.

Mamonde is known to be using flower extracts in all their products. This High Cover Liquid Foundation comes with Pomegranate Flower Extracts. Unless other flowers, Pomegranate Flowers have a solid and round calyxes that produces plump fruit. Pomegranate itself has a strong will power that it allows the fruit to defy gravity and not fall from the tree even when the fruit has ripen, big, plump or heavy. With this, Mamonde took what they saw and invented the 3D Lift Up Solution from the key effects of the pomegranate flower and fruit.

The cushion packaging is simple, yet clean looking. It has a light pink reflects on the top of the cushion. You know I like pink . Mamonde also kindly include a cushion pouch in the shape of a macaron. So cute!

Let’s take a look at the before and after. Coverage is definitely not an issue here. This is just one layer on the right side of my face. Korean brand tend to lean more towards the fair skin so shade No.21 Cover Peach is smack on fair on my current more tan skin compared to last time. Overall, it comes in 3 shades only – No.17 Cover Porcelain, which is a bright pink tone and creamy color for an airbrushed effect, No.21 Cover Peach, which is a brighter tone than Mamonde Cover Powder Cushion No.21 for a creamy color for an airbrushed effect, and No.23 Cover Sand, which is a shade that naturally covers blemishes.

I think I suit shade No.23 Cover Sand more, eh?

So far I have not seen any signs of my cushion foundation drying up, which is a good sign. I have not been using it for more than a week as I have been testing other foundations but when I took it out to use last Sunday for a quick party makeup, it is still as fresh as new! The shade may be a teeny weeny too fair for me at the moment, my skin still look great. This product however needs a makeup primer underneath otherwise your skin will get oily throughout the day.
