Ahhh the most raved Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer that everyone is eyeballing. This would be the easiest product review for me as I’ve already been using it for a few months before it’s available here in Malaysia AND I LOVE IT. Oppsss! I shouldn’t have jumped to the end of the review at the beginning huh . A few months ago, I spilled the beans on Instagram Stories that Physicians Formula Malaysia would be bringing in the Butter Bronzer but as a limited edition release. If you missed several announcement on that and still asking me about Butter Bronzer, hmmm, it means you are not stalking me close enough . And the official announce was also made on Physicians Formula Malaysia Instagram on 16th August. Just bear in mind that this will be a limited edition release an only available for a limited time only while the stock lasts, so don’t procrastinate for too long.

The full name of this is Butter Bronzer Murumuru Butter Bronzer. I know, weird that they repeated Butter Bronzer twice. I’m just going to call it Butter Bronzer for short. This bronzer is infused with Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter from the Amazon for that Brazilian glow. This may be a bit confusing to some – glow in a bronzer. No, you will not look all shimmery because this is a matte bronzer. So don’t worry.

Butter Bronzer is available in two shades – Light Bronzer and Bronzer. Light Bronzer would be too light and muddy for me based on swatches available online. So I go with Bronzer shade, which turned out to be just nice on me with build-able coverage. One of the reason why everyone is raving about this bronzer is the scent. It is said to have a pina colada scent. I don’t detect any coconut scent but to me it smells like beach holiday and I think many people agree with me on that .

Every Physicians Formula product comes with a brush or applicator. So is this Butter Bronzer, except that you don’t exactly get a brush but a sponge applicator some sort. I still have yet to use the applicator so I can’t comment on it because I love my bronzer line to be precise and diffused at the same time.

Butter Bronzer is said to be an ultra-rich bronzer that are creamy and soft. You must be wondering how it is a powder product creamy, eh? Well, the texture is said to mimic a powder and cream bronzer in one. The powder consistency feels like a velvety soft powder that goes on the skin beautifully without caking up. It also blends effortlessly and beautifully on the skin. This bronzer has a soft shade payoff despite using the darkest shade among the two shades available. That is also how I like my bronzer to be. Soft but build-able. I usually put on a soft first layer and build up to the shade I want. It is really not a super pigmented into-your-face kind of bronzer but once you build it up, it is absolutely beautiful! That is why the beauty community is still going crazy over this bronzer even after a year of launching it.

I am on the Western makeup trend so I like my face shape to look like they have dimension instead of the Korean or Japanese makeup style with a slap of white into your face kinda look. Nothing wrong with it, just a personal preference. The funny thing is, when I simply chisel up my face dimension, it doesn’t appear on the photo but if I build it up, it is wonderful! This is the Western makeup trend so please take my face shot comparison with a pinch of salt. You may not like it but I like it

I don’t use any other “contour” product to contour, just this Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. The brush I like to use with bronzer is the Real Techniques Cheek Brush from the Nic’s Pick set. It has a fluffy but tapered brush that I can easily do a contour line first before diffusing out with the same brush. But I go through phases with bronzer brush LOL. As of now, this is it.

The million dollar question is, should you get this Butter Bronzer. HELL YES! Run to it, don’t walk as it may just run out of stock. Remember, RUN!

The Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips duo is not a stranger to most of you. I didn’t attend the blogger event but I was given this iconic duo when I went over to Physicians Formula Malaysia office for a meeting on #IWillBeOkay Beauty Bag. Always love Physicians Formula team. They are always ever so kind to me. Since then, I have been using the Shimmer Strips since last year and I’ve been loving them! They are so well-loved / beat-up by now which shows how much I adore them.

Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes (RM69.85)

A lot of people have no idea how to use the Shimmer Strips or rather no idea what it is for. Hmmm I have to note that this product is kinda confusing but if you are a beauty enthusiasts like me, this wouldn’t be a concern at all. Makeup products are quite diversify. You can literally use anything on any part of the face. Now, as the mouthful name suggests, this is a all-in-1 palette for the face and eyes. As I have another palette for the eyes, I am using this specifically for the face. Also because that’s what I heard all the rave about from other people when used on the face.

Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes has 12 shimmery nude brick shades for a recreation of an all-over nude glow, contour, to accentuate cheeks, and to enhance the eyes. It’s confusing as I said earlier for most people because it comes in a squares bricks and usually that confuses people for some reason. Most people tend to overthink – which shade for which area, what shade for what etc. You will know after a few use the lighter rows are to be applied on which part of the face and also the darker row. I don’t stress myself with square by square. I’d go crazy! Instead I use my brush to glide over the top two rows a few times as highlighter and the bottom two rows for a shimmery bronzer when needed. But to be frank most of the time I only use the top two rows

Besides the pretty lace-print box design, which you know I LOVE LACE for the god of my life lol, a mirror, face brush and an applicator are also included and hidden at the back compartment. Usually I don’t say anything on the brush as I don’t normally use them but this face brush are thick, soft and well-made. Would be so perfect in picking up those shimmer powder and glide over the top of the cheek for a highlighted cheekbone

Haha this photo of me was taken back in November 2016 where I took the Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes out and applied it for the first time. First impression captured on the camera as I set it with timer and it went off with my shock face. Was supposed to capture picture of me applying but instead it captured my super shock face.

This is honestly, THE BEST, the most highlighted highlighter I have ever own and used. The rave from other Youtubers and bloggers are true. It is the most underrated, most affordable and best highlighter in the market. I highly recommend it too.

Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner (RM63.50)

I contemplated a bit with this Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner palette. I should have not listen to my other friends about how inconvenient this palette is because this is the most versatile and convenient palette to have or use IMHO. Like I said, people tend to get overwhelmed or confuse when they see stripes of shades lol.

Compared to the Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes, this one has real lace cloth wrap on the packaging. Major love! Most people get intimidated with shimmer eyeshadow. But then again, shimmers are in trend so this is perfect. I wouldn’t say this palette is shimmery. It does look like it’s packed on with lots of shimmers but nope. To me it gives the most beautiful satin-y finish. Super shimmery? Not at all! Physicians Formula said this palette can be used wet or dry. I have yet to use this wet so no comment about it. However I can already imagine how this would be when it’s used wet. That’s called the “foiling” method, where you turn any shimmery shade into a metallic shiny finishing.

How I like to use this Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner palette is actually very simple. I like to take an eyeshadow brush, run it all over the entire palette several time and apply onto the entire lid. When used with the right brush, it gives the crease a natural crease shade. I was amazed and still amazed with this palette. On certain days I would only swipe over the lightest five shades from the right for a lighter highlighted shade. Can this palette be used as highlighter? Why not?

So the next time you feel intimidated with the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Duo, don’t. There’s nothing to be worry about. Both are an absolutely beautiful and versatile palette to own. These two deserves more love and rave.

Everytime a brand released a new highlighter, you went crazy and swear THIS IS your highlighter and IT IS THE ONLY highlighter you need. You hunt for it, you bought it and then, another brand also released a new highlighter, you find yourself repeating the same reaction or process. And another brand, and another. The story goes on. “I only need this highlighter in my life”. How often have you said that or heard your friend said that? Too often . “I only need this highlighter in my life” – NOT!

As much as I still go gaga or ooohhhs and ahhhhs over new highlighter releases, I don’t find myself wanting to purchase them. It’s getting stale. I find that everybody in the whole wide world is forever never ending releasing a new highlighter. It’s getting too repetition that I got bored and stopped buying highlighters. Let’s be honest here. Highlighter never finishes! I piled them up on my face every day and I don’t see that I’ll hit pan anytime soon. Let me show you my small little highlighter in my collection, which are my favourite and why I don’t purchase anymore highlighters.

Ultimate favourite, the one I regretted not buying a few more

I have heard Zoella talking about the Estée Lauder Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Blush so many times that I regretted not getting it while I still can.

2 years ago, I went to Estée Lauder Staff Sale and I saw this! There she was, sitting beautifully on the table with no one near it. Everyone probably thinking it is too shimmery to be used as a blush but I knew this is not a blush type of blush but a darn pretty highlighter. I giggled my way to the table and grabbed one without blinking. Not even a split second. I had an urge to grabbed another one but I thought I wouldn’t use this as much as that time I wasn’t into all the contouring and highlighting routine. It was my one and only highlighter and I have used it so much so that it has a small dent to it. It’s a waste that Estée Lauder no longer make them anymore as they are the most absolute gorgeous highlighter ever. I was hoping that I will see this at the next warehouse sale but nope, these never make an appearance anymore. It was made in 2013 so Estée Lauder wouldn’t sell this at 2016 staff sale. No way I am throwing this away. There is something about a pink highlighter that goes on so beautifully on the skin. I never quite get this effect from other highlighter except from this. It’s the only highlighter that shows up on photos for me.

The one that shocked me and caught on camera

I tried this Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette For Face & Eyes one day on camera and my shocking reaction was caught on point on camera.

Not only this Shimmer Strips has a cute lace box packaging, albeit a bit bulky but I like lace so yeah. It is said for the face and eyes. So far I used it as highlighter as that’s what I learnt from international Youtubers. Plus I have a separate eye palette within the range for my eyes so I don’t use this for the eyes. Some people has been using the warm bronzey bottom as their bronzer but I find it to be too shimmery. As a topper yes, not as the main bronzer alone. I like to use the top two rows, run my brush on them several times and voilá. The highlighter is so blinding that it lasts the entire day. If you have darker skin, just swirl everything together. Another thing I notice is how fine the shimmers are. There aren’t much powder kick back to it. Although I have been using this like crazy, I still don’t see a dent. How is that even possible! I am so totally recommending this if you need a good highlighter that is absolutely affordable.

Waitlisted, bought and disappointed, the one that is cheap but does nothing

I wanted to complain about the ELF Illuminating Palette so much but it is so cheap, like RM26.84 cheap that I shut my mouth lol.

I own a ELF Contour Palette and it was not too bad so when iHerb has the Blush Palette and Illuminating Palette, I bought immediately. However the Illuminating Palette was sold out within the next minute that I was put on waitlist. I immediately check out when it was back in stock.

It was a disappointing palette to be honest. It has no pigmentation AT ALL. The only shade that is more shimmery is the 1st shade on the top left. The rest is more of a matte shade with no pigmentation at all. I don’t reach out for this palette at all nowadays as this palette require plenty of time piling up. And the end result is not wow even though so

Does better than how it look

I decided to lump these two Essence Prismatic Rainbow Glow Highlighter and Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Highlight together because my thoughts on them are pretty similar.

Essence Prismatic Rainbow Glow Highlighter is an exciting purchase this year. It is so cheap and it’s pretty interesting to see a rainbow highlighter turned into a golden highlight. It is beautiful on the skin, with super fine shimmers and almost no powder kick back. The highlight is subtle but definitely there type of highlighter. As it is a golden-ish type of highlight, I can’t see clearly in my dark room and I always end up piling them. What amazed me was that, no matter how much I used, it is not blinding or looking too overly done. It is still beautifully highlighting and yet not overly done type of highlighter.

Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Highlight on another hand requires a little bit of getting used to at first when it is new. At the beginning I ended up with a patchy highlight strip on the top of my cheeks and that freak me out. Later on I found a way around; and that is to tap on the back of my hand to even out the liquid highlight before dabbing it on my cheek bone. It is so gorgeous! I was blown away everytime I whipped this out to use. The end result looks like as I was using an expensive highlighter but actually this cost just $5.99 each. I’m glad I bought 2!

The most outrageous expensive highlighter I use

Ahhhh Guerlain Coque D’Or Perfumed Shimmer Powder Body & Hair. I fell in love with this mainly for its packaging. Do I have any use for perfumed powder? Not at all

These days no one goes out with shimmery hair or skin unless you are in a photo shoot or fashion show. I missed the previous one so I told myself I have to get this. And I did. Then I ended up not knowing what to do with it. It cost me nearly RM400. I told myself it’s too expensive as vanity table decoration lol. So I ended up using it on my cheek bone as highlighter! It works but the misting has to be really precise and on point. If not and you need to spread it out with your fingers, you will find all the shimmers stick to your fingers instead of the face. It’s a waste of money I tell you lol. During my earlier highlighting days, I used to use this a lot but I can never get a precise mist. It always ended up on my cheeks rather than on my cheekbone. It also has fly away shimmers that tend to get on every other part of the face. It’s outrageous, it’s expensive and I’m using it as highlighter. Oh well

Now, confession time. Which one of you cannot stop buying highlighter? I think I have problem to stop purchasing contour or bronzing product but highlighter? I don’t need a lot. So far I have been doing pretty good.

It is no secret that I adore Physicians Formula. I still remember how I started dipping my toes into the Physicians Formula hype that was raved by all US beauty bloggers and Youtubers. It is this Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Foundation. This is the foundation that got me into Physicians Formula. But, it was tricky. Tricky because the brand Physicians Formula was not present in the Malaysia market back in 2014. And I have to search for one from an oversea online store that is cheaper and willing to ship to Malaysia. You girls are so lucky now as Physicians Formula was finally launched in Malaysia in early 2016. Buying any Physicians Formula product is so easy now as you can just walk into Watsons store or shop at Watsons online store. And I also found out recently that Physicians Formula have their own online store. Even better!

Now, back to one of THE BEST foundation I have ever tried. I have a love and hate relationship with this Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Foundation previously. First of all, the reason why I bought it years ago was because I have heard how good this foundation was. It is a skincare + makeup type of foundation that has anti-aging benefits, mainly in improving the appearance of dark spots, age spots and sun spots over time. Hence the name “Spotless”. Plus the big ‘look up to 10 years younger’ stamp on the box is really alluring lol. I want to look younger over time using a makeup product. Do you?

I remember that everyone at the US raved over this product for 3 things – skincare benefit, excellent moisturizing foundation and the broad spectrum sunscreen protection. Honestly we in Malaysia are exposed to such a strong and harsh sun that the SPF15 on it is like a peanut compared to the usual SPF50 PA++++ we used. So I can understand why users at the US like the broad spectrum sunscreen even if it is SPF15. Understandably the weather over there is colder and most of them are not into layering skincare or separate sun protection application like us. So SPF15 is better than nothing.

Previously I bought the lightest shade available, which is shade Light. The shade is slightly more yellowish on me but after it sets, it sets to my skin tone. Odd but it happens. That is because this foundation has 35% silicone formula and true color pigments in it that gives the skin a weightless liquid veil that feels as if you have no makeup on. When the shade blends with my own skin tone, it looked like my skin. And now, Physicians Formula had launched three new shades that are created especially for Asian skin tone. Instead of the usual Light, Medium, Dark shades, you can now get Fair, Light Beige and Sand.

Everything remained unchanged. The box packaging, the bottle design, pipette dropper and even mini Pro Blending Brush included. The pipette is long and the bottle’s neck is secured with a plastic stopper. The opening of the plastic stopper is slightly bigger than the pipette diameter so do be prepared for a mess. I find that foundation left inside the pipette tend to get harden and gooey so my advise is to squeeze out the remaining foundation back into the bottle after you are done. This way, there will be no foundation left in the pipette that will turn hard and gooey.

As for the brush, hmmm sorry to say I am not a fan. Let me tell you why. This is a serum foundation which means it is very watery. The brush is a little bit hard and tend to leave streaky marks. It is particularly useful for any corners on the face like the nose area but for the whole face I recommend using either your fingers, beauty sponge or a brush. Anything that is able to blend the foundation on your face the lightest way. I used to use my fingers (I’ll tell you why below) and now I prefer a beauty sponge.

Now the new shades. What’s so different with it? Sadly I finished my old bottle of the Light shade until the last available drop that I’m unable to do a swatch comparison. Light used to be the lightest shade in this Youthful Wear range. Not anymore. Fair is a porcelain light shade. So fair that my skin tone is too dark for it. Light Beige on the other hand is my current new shade. It is tiny bit darker than the old Light but on my skin, it is actually my shade. Sand is the darkest among the lot. From the bottle it looked hella dark but when I swatched it for the first time, I was surprised that it is actually just a medium brown that suits probably medium light to medium dark skin.

As this Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Foundation is a watery type of foundation, I am not able to dispense out onto the back of my hand as it slides down all over my dress in no time. So I like to use a makeup palette. I mentioned that I had a love and hate relationship with this foundation and that is because of the scent. It smells so bad. So woody, so earthy that I cannot put my finger into describing the scent. If you use a brush to apply this foundation, the scent lingers on the brush for ages lol. And yes, you will still smell the foundation on the face after some time. It used to send chill down my spine but now I have grew out of it. I am okay with the scent now surprisingly. You can say I am used to it . If you don’t want the scent to linger on your face for hours, use your fingers to apply. This is the only method I find works. I was also trialing out the new Breena Beauty Blending Pearl and so I used it with this foundation. I never like how Beauty Blender work with this Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Foundation, but Breena Beauty’s Blending Pearl work like magic with this foundation. I will explain more on this in the review soon

I don’t know why. Somehow I find that the coverage is more than the old version. It is also more sweat proof. Maybe they did something with the formulation? It used to be really sheer like your own skin. But this new foundation still look like my own skin BUT SO MUCH BETTER. It covers everything that needed to be covered without looking thick or cakey. It still look like my own skin. Amazing. I would live through the yucky earthy scent for this LOL.

Despite being a watery foundation with skincare benefit, this Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Foundation is nothing but fantastic. It goes on matte, something I was surprised a few years ago but love about it. It holds up the entire day without me worrying if my face had turned oily or it had slipped. It looked absolutely flawless and beautiful in real and in photographs. By the end of the day my face looked healthy dewy, not oily. That is why I can never stop gushing about this foundation. I love it then, I love it even more now. This is my love ❤️

The downside. I wouldn’t really call this a downside, just a minor issue which is not a biggie to most people. You know I am a cleanliness freak when it comes to dirty makeup . That is the leaking on the stopper. If I shake the bottle hard, I find that there are foundation leaking out the stopper. When I put back the pipette into the bottle, I get foundations everywhere on the bottle neck due to the narrow hole. This issue however I find gets lesser and lesser as I go through the foundation. This is what I experience with the first bottle I finished. Mid way the leaking issue stopped. Is this an issue? Not issue. The foundation doesn’t leak out of the bottle to the outside. I happen to like my belongings clean

Have you tried the Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Spotless Foundation? No? Why no? RUN for it! It is seriously good despite the awful scent lol. I still think it’s pretty cool that this serum foundation that is so watery has excellent oil control and impressive staying power. This foundation gives you the most beautiful and flawless look, regardless in real or in photos. I get asked all the time what foundation I am wearing everytime I had this foundation on.
