Do you? Because I do. I GET VERY PARANOID.

I don’t know what it is but last time I used to buy buy buy, get get get and I like it. I don’t feel suffocated or paranoid about expiry date at all because I know I will get through it since I use so much product on day to day basis. But since last year, I changed unknowingly. I started to get very paranoid with how much stuff I have – used and unused.

It has gotten out of hand that I have to buy a 6-tier shoe cabinet to store my “stock pile”. My home Sephora as I name it. And I have a FIFO (first in first out) system for my stock pile too! For the first month everything was good, then it gotten out of hand very quickly. Even my cabinet is weighing down at the middle now lol. Mind you all this happened even when I have always been very selective with the events and engagement I agree on.

Used skincare wise, I am doing pretty good. I have a strict rule of only to open a new one when I have gone through the existing product. I also reject skincare product review, sponsored or not sponsored when I feel that I can’t justify opening another new product only to stress about it later. I know other bloggers don’t care but I do. I have always believe that we should not waste, especially beauty products. Especially skincare!

But I can’t say the same with unused skincare. I have so much! So much so that I have to really be selective with skincare launches. I have to consider if the brand or range suits me and if I want it. Otherwise, I don’t go. Unless I have been confined in the house for a few days and I get to see a bunch of my blogger friends, that is when you will see me lol.

Used makeup wise, errrr…this one I failed tremendously. I have the tendency to “open up a new product” to use whenever I feel like going to Sephora to shop. In order to curb my Sephora shopping addiction, I turned to my own stash. Most of the time I have to keep reminding myself that I have a Sephora at home. STOP SHOPPING!

Having said that, I have no regrets with opening up a new makeup products. This way I get to clear my stock pile faster and I get to save money for not shopping at Sephora. And sometimes, just sometimes the temptation is too strong, I will go for drugstore new product hunting. It is my favourite thing to do these days. I like to bring you around (I meant Insta Stories) whenever I go to Guardian or Watsons to look for new products. Once a while I find hidden gem or markdown or new releases. Sometimes I went home with disappointment. You know how it is. Drugstore brand don’t do launches like the higher end brand so who the heck will know if there is any new products unless we go to look for it, right?

I remember someone once sarcastically teased me on Instagram direct message saying that I don’t have as much new makeup products as I do with skincare. True. BUT, I do have four large Sephora gift box full with new makeup products. Of course it is not as much as skincare from the look of it because skincare bottles are blindly bigger than makeup products. If you need to see equally same width and height of stock pile then that would mean I have lesser skincare. And I bet she have lesser than me

Enough rambling already. So, based on my casual chat with numerous friends and bloggers, they feel fine. They don’t feel paranoid of having so many products used or unused around them. I know one or two bloggers who will get paranoid when she discovered the expiry date is in a few months time lol. I know because I usually get phone calls with the other party screaming “die la die la” on the phone.

Benefit and I, we are not friends. There I said it. Why? Well, many years ago Benefit Malaysia uses us, a group of bloggers to do a giveaway for them in order to create some hype for them. And when that is done, they have gotten what they want and the left without saying thank you or good bye. So, now they only get people who is famous or celebrity so-called to whatever they do. I am one who do not support Benefit Malaysia regardless how tempting some of their limited edition launches are.

Today I was randomly browsing Sephora Malaysia online for new product releases and stumbled upon this 2017 Cheek Parade palette. What caught my eyes is the new GALifornia, which was just launched not even a month ago. If you have GALifornia in this palette, shoot! I am half sold. Half because I am (still) not going to spend on Benefit. Hah!

The price: RM290. Not too bad considering there are 2 new shades – GALifornia and Hoola Lite. But do you need a 300 bucks blush palette and it is just Benefit? No you do not. I would take the money and buy Hourglass or Tarte or Marc Jacobs. Unless you are a hardcore fan of the brand then go ahead lol.
This palette will only be launching in April 2017 and we already have it in Sephora.my!

How to get the best from what you paid?

Coincidentally Sephora.my is having some weekly promotion on their website and Benefit has a GWP promo. If you spend RM240 and above on Benefit products, you will get this 3-piece gift set.

Am I tempted in any way? Of course? I am a beauty enthusiast and anything beauty always tempt me. But not until I need to buy it otherwise I could not sleep. Nah, I am still not supporting Benefit LOL. I still have my gorgeous Tarte 10-blush palette to dig into.

As you already notice, blog update for this week is at a minimal as both of my camera decided to complot and broke down one day apart from each other. My main camera is the Olympus PEN E-P3. The lens started to have an issue when I tried to zoom in from 25mm onwards. But it is still usable until the morning while I was taking photo of the L’Oréal Lucent Magique Cushion Glow Blush. I couldn’t move the lens anymore. That is when something inside had broken. All was still good as I have a spare camera. A point-and-shoot Canon Powershot S110 which I bought as a spare camera a few years ago because the same E-P3 was sent to the service centre for the same issue. When I took it out to take photos of the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream, the lens is not retracting in. Same issue. I ended up with two camera lens that wouldn’t retract back in.

Olympus is charging me RM200 to RM250 for the spare part including camera body cleaning. Canon on the other hand quoted me RM527.90. That’s right. A camera which cost me half the price of the micro 4/3 is charging me double of the repair price of the micro 4/3. Story cut short, my Olympus camera will be home in another week and I am not paying for the Canon. Poor thing. It’s a fairly new camera as I’ve used less than 10 times since I bought it. Geez Canon!

I will try to update as much as I can. But until the camera is home, product reviews will be kept minimal.

On this year’s Valentine’s Day, I was featured in CompareHero. Not long after the article was published, the kind folks at CompareHero sent me a 60% discount for KFIT first month subscription, which does not work at all until I informed CompareHero, which they later informed KFIT to rectify the issue. KFIT monthly pass is RM99, after discount it rounds up to RM39. I thought that’s not bad for someone who wanna try out KFIT. I needed to do some cross training for as a part of my training for marathon so I signed up and I have headache thereafter.

I remember seeing lots of KFIT advertisement on Facebook when they first started out in Malaysia. If I’m not mistaken they advertise it as unlimited access? I’m not too sure. I might be wrong. So all this while I always assume their monthly pass is unlimited. I asked my friend about this and he told me the downside about KFIT is that you cannot keep going to the same gym. It’s limited. You’re required to move around different gym. I later found out that each gym listed might limit your access to 3 times a month or so. It really depends on the gym and the deal they had with KFIT.

This post is not about shaming or discriminating KFIT mind you. The concept is pretty good but I find there are some holes with the concept, which I wasn’t happy about.

Canceling your subscription is not as “anytime” as you want

When I signed up for KFIT, it said I can cancel anytime. I thought OK. I signed up. The fitness pass only entitles you for 10 usage per month and I’ve only used two due to work schedule. So I decided to cancel my subscription to stop the recurring payment, I’ll tell you about that later on. When I wanted to cancel my subscription on the “anytime” I want, I couldn’t find the Cancel My Subscription button!

After turning the site upside down, I resolved to the FAQ. I have to read through the whole thing only to find out I need to write in to KFIT and the best part, they need 7 days before the subscription renewal date otherwise you will be charged and nothing can be done on that. Now…who the heck will remember when they subscribe? I also found out that they can check and cancel your subscription within seconds upon receiving your email.

At this point of time I was still OK. Until the sarcastic reply from KFIT representative ticks me off after telling her no one remembers the 7 day clause. And there was no notification from KFIT. Another thing that ticks me off is that she didn’t bother to address me either “Hi Fiona” or “Dear Fiona” like other companies customer service in her email replies.

Enquiry chat on the sidebar which does not help

Every now and then when I’m login to KFIT account, the sidebar chat automatically will prompt you to see if you have anything that requires their help. I thought okay, this is pretty cool. I could ask if I’m allowed to shower after the gym.

Usually I go to the gym near my house so I don’t need a shower. Sometimes when I’m in KL and I’m an hour away from home. That’s when I need to shower. So I asked if I allowed to shower after the gym. The reply I get was that I should check with the gym. Alaaaaa. Really face palm moment. KFIT should know the gym’s T&C with them. They should know if this is under their partnership deal or not. What’s the point of asking you if I need to ask the gym myself? Not helpful.

There’s no way to stop recurring payment

Absolutely no way but to cancel your subscription aka “downgrade” in KFIT term. The bank can’t do anything, you can’t do anything yourself. You cannot remove you payment option in the account. KFIT will make sure they have your charge card details in the account no matter what. If you missed the 7 day write-in clause, you’ll be charge.

I wouldn’t advise signing up for subscription like this if you are always busy and on-the-go like me. You just can’t keep track of everything. Seriously. You’ll end up being charged and not using what you’ve been charged because of the busy schedule.

Okay la. To balance everything, I have to give my kudos to KFIT Facebook team. Not only I was attended properly (unlike the lady in the email) and in the middle of the night, this guy Sam was very helpful. He managed to talk to his team and management on this and came out with a RM50 reimbursement in credit form. What would I do with “credits” in my account if I don’t even have the time to utilize what I’ve paid?? I would need to use this RM50 to pay for a service in KFIT. In another word, I didn’t get my refund at all. This is like I’m being offered a refund with no refund. Hard to understand, eh? Me too.

I still think this KFIT thing is a good concept. It works out to RM9.90 for each gym access, which is not too bad but if you found a gym near you or a gym that you like, you have to utilize it properly as each gym may only allow 3-4 times access, which according to my friend is what he hate about KFIT. However, this is not a great thing to subscribe for if you’re always busy and on-the-go. You may not be able to utilize your subscription and being charged for it as canceling is not as anytime you want. Would I return to KFIT? ABSOLUTELY NOT. That’s why the RM50 credit refund they offered me was useless. I already stress so many times that I don’t have time and I will not return to KFIT and they still insist credit refund. And the credit would need to be use to purchase a service through KFIT. In another word, I’m paying for it! What kind of refund is this? Sigh. Headache.
