When I was gifted a bottle of Elie Saab Girl of Now on my birthday, I was asked to do a review on it. I said no immediately but after considering it for quite a while, I think I should because it is the latest fragrance release. Granted now the distributor no longer send us any new fragrance . Before I go into detail with that perfume, I thought I’d tell you about my all time favourite perfume.

I still remember my reaction when I was gifted with a perfume. I think I sent a wrong impression to my friend that I hated my gift. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE PERFUME. Just that I have too much at the moment lol. I currently have about 30 bottles on my vanity table and another 10ish in the cabinet unopen. I wish he ask me what I want and I’d reply diamond

No. 1 Favourite Perfume – Estée Lauder Modern Muse

I cannot tell you enough how much I love the Estée Lauder Modern Muse line. Modern Muse, Modern Muse Chic or whatever just give me all. I’ve gone through the entire bottle of the original Modern Muse. Right before that, I was lucky to be sent the new Modern Muse Chic. Both version carries the same scent. For me there’s hardly any difference. I’m about to finish the Modern Muse Chic and Paris B kindly gave me hers! This is a scent where whenever I wore it, everyone would stop me on the street and ask me what perfume I was wearing. It happened at several H&M store, with the cashier asking me what sensual scent I was wearing. You can really smell a Modern Muse chic walking from far. I remember when I was at the Sephora Mid Valley store opening, out of the sudden I can smell a strong Modern Muse storm. I started to look around and waited. Then all the Estée Lauder PR girls arrived LOL. I told them “I can smell you from far” and they were laughing hard. No kidding. It’s really that good. For me that is

Signorina Misteriosa, Opium, Bamboo, Flora and The Scent

I can’t pick the secondary perfume because I have many! But if I want to save my Modern Muse and use something equivalent, it would be YSL Black Opium. Oh my God. This perfume is so sexy and seductive. The scent is strong but not nauseating. It lasts the entire day without the note changes. Perfume usually has 3 notes in it and each will evolve as the day goes by. Not this one. No problem for me as I like it that way.

And if I want to smell delicious and yet still sexy, I would go for Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. I’m a floral scent girl so it is no surprise that I would like this one. The scent is so me according to many people. I go heavy handed with this and I don’t find myself drowning in it. Not bad lol. It’s mature, sexy, sensual, seductive. It’s everything a girl would like.

Hugo Boss BOSS THE SCENT has a similar scent to Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, only sweeter. I don’t usually go for sweet scent except for this one, which I’ve used up quite a bit. It has a light scent despite being an Eau de Parfum. The scent doesn’t last long although I literally bath myself in it. So if I want to smell nice and a little sweet for a quick outing such as coffee run or lone shopping, this is what I’d wear.

This next scent has an impact in me personally. My ex and I each received the same Gucci Bamboo for review at the same time. As much I like this perfume and I’m left with 3% of content, I would want to finish this up and toss the bottle away. That’s because I have a new bottle waiting . If you like a subtle scent, this is the scent for you. It smells really fresh and floraly. I’m kinda obsessed with it. I only wish it was a tad bit stronger so that I don’t have to use so much each time.

Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Misteriosa is the “darker version” of the iconic Signorina. I like Ferragamo as a whole brand so it doesn’t take a lot of guessing I like their fragrance line as well. The scent is mysterious as how the brand want to package it. It’s a deep, mature, womanly scent that is also sexy and sweet despite being a floral scent.

The Love of My Life – Elie Saab Girl of Now

You know how certain things that you don’t like a first grew on you and you fell in love? Again and again, all over. That is how I am with Elie Saab Girl of Now. Very much the same feeling I had towards the person who gave me this gift.

I received this on my birthday. It was my birthday eve, raining heavily that we had to cancel our Japanese dinner and go for a cozy home Japanese food order from Food Panda instead. Not the birthday celebration I expected and I was rather disappointed. I bought a new dress to wear. You know me. And it was my birthday! Food Panda was not good but the company was. The conversation started out of the sudden like “so I went to ask the lady what is the latest and greatest and the lady said this”. There I was, sitting there wondering what the heck this person was saying (because there was no opening line) and this person bent over to the other side of the table, and put the box in front of me. A perfume?! I said. That person replied yeah, it’s beauty. I did ask why buy me perfume and that I like diamond haha. This person has been telling me a few days ago that it’s something beauty and I’d love it. Because it’s beauty. Beauty is me. True enough. 100 brownie points for understanding me that well. I opened the bottle and mist Girl of Now on my arm. I said it smells like some middle eastern scent and I don’t like it. You know how perfume is. It takes time. After about 30 minutes, I smell something nice. I took a sniff on my arm and I was blown away. The top note has worn off and the middle note emerged. It reminds me of YSL Black Opium, only manlier. The beautiful scent stays on smelling oh so nice for the rest of the night. As I used it more and more, I like it. Now I love it. As I’m typing this now, I’m misting myself with this perfume on me. I find myself doing this a lot lately whenever I’m working from home. I have the bottle sitting in front of me. Hard to not reach out and mist myself with it.

There you have it! My perfume collection and what I smells like most of the time . Conclusion, Modern Muse or Black Opium hands down. Otherwise it’s Girl of Now

Are you one of the people who got sucked in with Facebook ads? I never do until the Naka Kirei Enzyme ad came out and it created lots of hype around it. So I did a little digging on my own because I was super curious with the whole enzyme thing and how it can help with the wellness on the inside. As you know I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle and I’m wondering if my body is really lack of enzymes to help with whatever it is. I placed my order with one eye closed because of the price, which I’ll explain in a bit. When I talk about Naka Kirei Enzyme with my friends, I had a hard time explaining what it is. So I tell my friends that it’s something you pop half an hour before meal so that you don’t gain weight LOL. In a way it is what was claimed but the real fact is that it has more than just that.

Enzymes are made up of proteins which are consumed from food or produced in the body. They are necessary for activities in the body such as digestion, excretion, metabolism and immunity. This Japanese company said that we are not consuming more enzymes because of westernized meal style which doesn’t have much raw food. Enzymes are available through raw or fermented food. That is because enzymes are weakened when it is heated. And the Naka Kirei Enzyme are made from Koji (fermented rice) bacteria. The reason why it is safer to use Koji is because they are more active as they are fermented with soya beans and grains.

One of the reason why people started consuming enzymes is because of constipation. Did you know that constipation is also caused by the lack of enzymes? Constipation is a state of waste products building up in your bowel. And it leads to obesity or the body’s disability to lose weight. That brings me to this. Not that I am obese or what not but I mainly want to lose the weight around my tummy, which Naka Kirei Enzyme claimed to do. Because there aren’t much info only on this product, I was also very confuse with the consumption. Thank goodness they have a Malaysia website (weirdly) and the FAQ are actually quite complete with much needed info.

It is recommended to take ONE capsule within 30 minutes before mean with warm water, which I duly complied with for lunch time. However I missed the memo on taking ANOTHER one capsule after meal within 30 minutes LOL. It must be within 30 minutes or else it won’t be effective. Now I know why it’s not working for me since I missed the memo haha!! I have no idea why I missed this but I remember I didn’t read that it is necessary to consume another capsule after meal even after going through the FAQ several hundreds of time.

Does it work to lose weight?

Now, the capsule may look harmless but it smells absolutely horrible. It is also necessary to drink more water as that sort of compresses the appetite and when I do drink more water, I tend to burp and it stinks! To me after consuming the capsule before lunch, I feel more hungry. More than the usual. Probably it’s psychological because I knew I had the enzyme that will help with digestion that I am eager for lunch, knowing I won’t gain weight. I don’t find myself eating lesser than normal but I also don’t find myself eating more than normal. I am still the usual me and I don’t eat much. For the first week, I lost 1kg and I knew I am in trouble. It is said that the effect will start within 2 weeks time so I know this is like a bouncing effect. The weight will comes back and it sure did. My main goal is not to lose weight but to lose the weight on my tummy region. Well, at first my tummy does look a little flatter but it doesn’t stay that way LOL. I don’t take this enzyme capsule for dinner as I don’t do dinner, mostly just protein drink.

Does it help with constipation?

To begin with, I don’t have constipation problem. In fact I have a very healthy bowel movement everyday but since consuming Naka Kirei Enzyme, all hell broke loose. I started to have constipation problem. Like for real! From no issue to big issue. I don’t have the urge to go to the toilet and it goes on for days. I then get very bad mood because my system were all messed up. Everytime I go on something like this I messed up my bowel movement. I tried stopping the consumption for a while and it went back to normal. I restarted again just to finish the expensive capsules and the same problem happened again. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea at all.

Price

I can tell you that this is one hella expensive product. Priced at RM183 for one bag of 30 capsules, which will only last you for 2 weeks if you are consuming 2 capsules per day. If you order 2 bags, it is at RM310, 3 bags for RM432 or special 2 bags subscription for RM280. Subscription means they bill you RM280 every month and send you 2 bags every month. It is said to be cancellable at any time but I’m not too sure about that. I didn’t take the risk of ordering more than one as I wanted to try first before getting into it.

Let’s just say I won’t be reordering anymore after this

I’m into yuzu these days. To be honest I have no real knowledge on what is yuzu. All I know is they looked like a hybrid between an orange and a lemon lol . But one thing I can assure you is that yuzu smells amazing. I first fell in love with yuzu scent when I bought a pack of yuzu scented steam eye mask from Singapore last year. That changes everything as anything with yuzu is either expensive or hard to get. However that’s not just the only scent from ShiKai. I mentioned a week or two ago that TNS Skin Lab recently added the brand ShiKai into their array of natural personal care selection. You know what’s better other than ShiKai is all natural? It is Made in the USA and are not tested on animals ❤️

Moisturizing Shower Gel (RM69 / 355ml, RM14 / 60ml)

Yuzu scented shower gel? How exciting! If you think this is just another shower gel, think again. These gel actually contain maximum amount of powdered oatmeal and aloe vera gel to moisturize and relieve dry, itchy skin, and also for a smoother, softer skin. Most shower gel do, I get it. After trying the shower gel for a few weeks, I must say they are not joking. Despite being a soap-free shower gel, it actually foams up more than other shower gel I know. The foams doesn’t dries up the skin but instead the skin are kept supple. It’s even better with the body lotion, which I’ll get into later.

It has a authentic yuzu scent, almost the same with my steam eye mask, for which I am quite happy with. The scent relaxes me and makes me chirpy happy during shower. It does help if yuzu if one of your favourite scent

Moisturizing Hand & Body Lotion (RM66 / 238ml,  RM14 / 29ml)

This one I’m most excited about. It’s weird thinking back to 3 years ago when I am against body lotion. I learnt how to apply body lotion and that is not before bed time but as soon as you towel dry your skin after shower, while the skin is still damp. This way, the body absorb the product better leaving the skin soft and not sticky.

I am the most non-discipline one when it comes to using complementing scent or product. This time I told myself to not stray and just follow the step. It has Borage Oil to help to heal dry skin. I personally do have a dry skin and this lotion I would say is much more creamier and thicker than every other lotion I’ve used. It does leave a layer on the skin so use moderately, not generously like me lol. It also contain Shea Butter for that extra extra silky feel,  Aloe Vera and Vitamin E combined with Cocoabutter, Wheatgerm, Apricot and Safflower Oils for extra moisturization.

Scent wise, it’s different from the shower gel. The shower gel has a rather pleasant authentic yuzu scent while the Hand & Body Lotion has a more stronger yuzu scent that almost smells like it’s plasticky. Does it smells bad? No. It still smells like yuzu. But I get it why the lotion smells somewhat different and stronger. Complementing body care products especially lotion are in this way so that the scent are able to lingers on the skin longer. If you notice the last step products are always heavily scented.

As I’m writing this, my Hand & Body Lotion are 50% used up while my Shower Gel are still 80% full. How is that even possible? . Then I realized how much I’m using every night after shower. So much so that last Friday I went for a body massage and the therapist told me my skin are baby soft and that I took care of my skin very well. Now, now now. I am proud of that compliment. It means ShiKai Yuzu Moisturizing Shower Gel and Hand & Body Lotion really delivers what it promised and that is soft, smooth and moisturizing skin.

Now that the weather is getting pretty hot and sunny, this would be the best time for me to tell you about this Limited Edition ESCADA Fiesta Carioca fragrance. Think of the summer, beach holiday, the smell of sunblock, the coconuty smell of piña colada. Think of all the tropical fruits you are enjoying by the beach while sun tanning. That’s what ESCADA Fiesta Carioca scent reminds me of.

The ESCADA Fiesta Carioca is a limited edition release in honor of the 25th anniversary of ESCADA’s Summer Limited Edition fragrances. It is released in celebration of life, summer and passion. The beautiful ombré bottle really does embodied summer. The fragrance overall was inspired by Brazilian carioca and their unique zest for life and colorful festivities. Hence the bottle flacon.

When it comes to summer, you will not get away with fruity floral scent. Before I even unbox the fragrance, I already knew this is going to be a sweet fragrance. I was right indeed. the ESCADA Fiesta Carioca is a fruity floral perfume to rejoice in an endless summer. This limited edition scent also pays a tribute to ESCADA’s vivacious fashion heritage and to one of the perfume industry’s most successful summer fragrance line. That’s right. No one does a good summer fragance as good as ESCADA. They are the expert.

Gotta love the vibrant print on the box packaging. It sent the messages out. At a glance, one would what this fragrance is all about – celebration, summer and festivities. I can’t tell exactly what is the juice color as the bottle are afterall in an green and pink ombre. All I can tell you is that this is a really sweet scent. Is it my scent preference? Nope. But, having said that, this is not bad at all. At least I didn’t feel dizzy or nauseas

The scent opens up with a luscious Brazilion passion fruit accord, surrounded by succulent European red raspberry notes, a nod to the brand’s German roots. It’s heart note is a vibrant passion flower, that is blended with orange flower for that hint of warmth. The scent is said to dries down to a musk and cedar wood base. I can pick up the fruity and warmth scent but I can’t detect the floral or the musky cedar wood scent. However, thanks to all the passion flower, musk and cedar wood, the ESCADA Fiesta Carioca has become a wearable scent for me, for I am not a floral scent type of girl. People around me tells me I smells good, that I smells like summer enticing. Now, that is a compliment!
