Sudio (not Studio) is a Swedish lifestyle brand which specifically make IMHO, one of the most stylish earphones with studio-quality sound. The name Sudio was stuck in me since I heard it for the first time due to the similarity to the word “studio”. The name is actually a special honour to Phil Collins song Sussidio 😀 . It all happened when the founders spotted the musician Phil Collins in New York having problems with his headphones. How coincident!

Sudio Klang 1
Sudio have 3 earphones collection within the brand – Klang, particularly made for Apple productsTvå, suitable for any type of electronic devices, and the latest addition Vasa, one of Sudio ́s premium models for Android and iOS. Between Klang and Två, I went with Klang earphones as I’m like the most hardcore fan and user of everything Apple 😀 #nosecret. Even though their office is located at the center of Stockholm in Sweden itself, rest assured that they do offer free shipping online AND to Malaysia. If you prefer to purchase from physical store, that will do too. They are available in 20 countries.

My parcel reached me within a week, securely wrapped in padded envelope and in an air-tight ziplock bag. The box itself is made from hard duty cardboard so there will not be any dent or whatsoever. On the inside, everything is boxed and arranged neatly. I did not expect this at all so imagine how happy I was to see this, since I’m kinda OCD 😛

Sudio Klang 2

Sudio Klang 3
I like that the boxes are labelled properly

Once I unboxed everything, I find the Klang earphones itself, Owner’s Manual, Quality Assurance Card, Genuine Leather Carrying Case, Quick Start Card, 4 pairs of extra sleeves, and a cable clip. Just so you want to know, Klang earphones comes in 4 different colours – Brown with gold detailing, Black with gold detailing, White with gold detailing, and Orange with Black detailing. Personally I prefer everything of my Apple accessories to be in white because that’s how Apple accessories came originally. Then I figured that since I have makeup on most of the time, white is not feasible for me as I would stain the cord. That explains why I’m still using my Blackberry phone earphones and not my iPhone earphones. So I chose this super stylish bright orange for a change and I’ve been loving it so far.

Sudio Klang 4
To get started, I took out the Quick Start card, the earphones and the packet of attachments. Klang earphones cord has been designed to be longer than the other so I started off with unwiring the cord and choosing the right ear sleeves. The longer cord prevent the earphones from being pulled out and it acts as an accessory as well.

Sudio Klang 5

Sudio Klang 6
One of the main feature of Klang earphones is the stay-in-ear design. It is also the reason why I chose this earphones to try out as I love my Blackberry earphones, which has a similar design. I notice that stay-in-ear design like this usually provide a very good sound quality and not to mention very good bass sound 😀

Sudio Klang 7

Sudio Klang 8
Another main feature to note is the full-feature 3-button remote, which is designed for iOS devices such as iPhone, iPad and MacBook. It took me quite some time figuring out how to skip to other song, skip a few seconds and go back to the previous song with the button as there aren’t any guide on that. Other phone or operating system will still have the function of picking up calls but the increase and decreasing volume feature may differ. I tried it on my other phone aka Blackberry and it works just like an Apple product surprisingly!

Sudio Klang 9
I always have problem with protruding earphones connector. Do you notice that the thing is sticking out and it’s absolutely annoying? Finally I have something that solved this issue for me. I like how neatly Klang connector is. It is not even a bit protruding once the connector is connected to the phone. Absolute love the flat edge. Major love!

Sudio Klang 10

Sudio Klang 11
There is also an attachment package which has a metal cable clip and 4 extra pairs of sleeves for the earphones. That is because everyone’s ear hole? is different so you get to choose a suitable rubber loop. Initially I went with the smallest of the lot but after using it for a few days I switched to the 2nd smallest as I find that the extra rubber grip better 🙂

Sudio Klang 12
I personally don’t use the cable clip on normal days except when I’m running, which I’ll tell you why at the bottom. However this cable clip will be useful if you want to keep the long cord in place.

Sudio Klang 13
Now, you know how girls get all excited with pouches and stuff right? I do too. So when I know that the Klang earphones comes with a genuine leather carrying case, boy oh boy I was so excited. I tend to have my earphones tangled up in a huge mess. The pouch helped to keep everything in place and safe.

Sudio Klang 14

Sudio Klang 15
The stay-in-ear dynamic speaker is measuring at 10mm for a natural bass without compromising the high tones. I love how crisp clear the sounds are and the bass is absolutely a music to my ear. I’ve tried all the buttons with Spotify as well as the Music app on my phone and it worked very well. With normal earphones that comes with the phone, I only get one button with the pause or play button. The volume adjustment button comes really handy especially when I’m running.

Sudio Klang 16
The top button is to increase the volume, bottom button is to decrease the volume and the most function button is none other than the middle button.

The middle button act as a button to answer phone call. On standby, if you press it once and long, you will get Siri popping out. This is when you can have a chat with Siri if you’re bored lol. That’s not all. This middle button is literally THE button to do everything else. To make your life simpler, I’ve come up with a list.

Press 1x – pause song.
Press 1x long – Siri.
Press 2x – next song.
Press 2x slower – same song, fast forward a few beats.
Press 3x – go back to the previous song.

The tricky part is getting the right pressing beat. If you are not consistent or 1 second slower, you will be at a different function 😀 . It took me just a day to master the whole clicking anatomy.

Sudio Klang 17
As I said earlier, I don’t use the cable clip on normal days. Why? Because the cables are highly durable that it doesn’t stick to my face! I loveeee this cord. I’m not afraid to use it when I have makeup on as I know the cable do not touch my face at all. I like how it sticks out and away from all the foundation haha 😀 . Due to this, I don’t need a cable clip. When I’m running, I need the long cord to be away from my hand movement so I have the clip tucking the cable to the side.

Sudio Klang 20
I was all hyped up with this Klang earphones as I needed something for when I’m running but after trialling the earphones for my run, I find that it is not that suitable for such activity. The cord is too long and the stay-in-ear earphones doesn’t stay well in my ears. Bummer 🙁 . This earphones serve much better as a lifestyle earphones more than for sports purposes. I figured I could make it work for running and I can’t. So I’ve been using this a lot when I’m working from a cafe during the day and everything else when I’m at home 😀 . The bright orange cord is an attention seeker whenever I go.

The Aerial7 Sound Disk Sports Headband was intriguing at first sight. I have to admit, it sparked in my mind as to why I never thought about making something like this. It seemed simple and useful for anyone who enjoys brief or even heavy workouts. Then, after testing it for a few days, I realised that it did have its imperfections.

Aerial7_1
Let’s go with the great parts of the headband. First and foremost, you need to understand that it is, after all, a headband. It’s meant to look and feel simple. Nobody wants to do his or her workout with a heavy unicorn-shaped headband, for example. It feels light from the moment you put it on. The headbands elasticity is surprisingly close to perfect as it wraps your head nicely. It’s the right amount of tightness to make sure the wiring and speakers don’t run out of place.

Aerial7_6Aerial_2v1
The audio jack extension that’s provided provided was a smart call for the product. You have the option of using it (which has a microphone by the way) to connect to just about any phone or mp3 player. Should you have a small mp3 player (like an iPod Shuffle), you could easily clip it on the patch placed behind the headband. The microphone attached to the audio jack extension also has a button that you can use to pick up or end calls if it’s connected to most smartphones, as well as to control music that’s played (so far, I tested it with Apple products, and the one, two, and three-button push commands work fine).

Aerial7_3
As a headband should, it does absorb sweat from your forehead. As you exercise, you won’t need to use your face towel too often anymore as the headband absorbs your swear while still looking dry from the outside. This gives you more focus on your workout.

A big plus would be the speakers. Once you adjust the speakers to cover your ears, you can definitely block out any outside noise, which would include gym music or even conversations. The bass is surprisingly good considering the speakers do not have any outside rubber or in-ear fittings that a pair of earphones would.

Aerial7_4
Now, for the other side of the coin. I honestly can’t see too many Malaysians wearing these. Reason? We live in a humid country, so while this soaks up sweat, it certainly makes you sweat more. It gets warm quickly. Imagine if you were on your treadmill and you’re working up a sweat. You’d want to cool your body down so you can continue your workout. The headband, however, seems to add the extra body heat and directs it straight to your forehead and ears. It feels uncomfortable when that starts, forcing you to either stop running or to simply take them off to suddenly feel hot steam coming out of your ears and forehead.

My second point would be abnormality of wearing this headband, in particular. If you see some tennis players who wear headbands, it will be placed around the head and ABOVE the ears, not covering them. As the speakers are nice and thin, a first impression from someone who doesn’t know what they are would think you don’t know how to wear a headband properly, or that your ears must be that cold until you wear it so. Did I also mention that it would be extremely uncomfortable if you wear it with glasses/sun glasses? Contact lenses are recommended when wearing this headband.

Aerial7_5
For hygiene purposes, it would be advisable to wash the headband after each use. This sounds perfectly understandable until you realize that you’ll need to remove all wirings first before washing it. It is a bit of a hassle when trying to remove the speakers through a very small lining inside the headband’s stitching. The lining hole is small and it feels like you’re going to rip it while trying to take out the speakers. Sure, it can expand, but you’ll feel scared to stretch it too far. At least, that’s how I felt.

Aerial7_7Aerial7_8
My last point would be just of a suggestion that the audio jack extension’s microphone would’ve come with volume control. Instead of having to take out your mp3 player or phone to adjust the volume, it would’ve been of great convenience if we could control it straight from the wire.

In the end, the headband serves its purpose. It does exceptionally well for what it was made for. The only hiccups fall at all the things before and after you use it. It’s not too common to see headbands being used in Malaysia (for humid reasons) yet, but it would be acceptable, nonetheless. If you do have the time and patience to carefully take out and re-insert the wiring when washing the headband, it wouldn’t hurt for you to try it.

Aerial7_9

Pros:

  • Elastic enough to go around your forehead, tight enough to make sure speakers don’t run off while exercising.
  • Extended wire provided should you want to use the microphone as well as to connect to your own smartphone/bigger mp3 player that can’t fit at the back of the headband.
  • It does absorb sweat without making it uncomfortable around your head.
  • Bass is surprisingly good without any outside rubber fitting or in-ear things that a pair of earphones provides. Can easily drown out conversations or gym music.
  • Microphone button allows pick up/end calls as wells as iPod mp3 click commands.  Microphone button seems way too small at first, but after you clip it on your shirt, it is easy to click.

Cons:

  • Practicality. I don’t see that many Malaysians using headbands when exercising.
  • Abnormality. People don’t know these exist so you may get strange stares from people as they hear music coming from your head.
  • Annoyed. It seems like it will work perfectly when you’re exercising. But what about afterwards when you need to wash it? It’s a hassle to get the speakers out of the headband so you can wash the headband. It’s even a bigger hassle when you need to insert the speakers (don’t forget the audio jack) back in. Sure the hole to insert the speakers is expandable, but you’ll feel scared like you’re going to rip a bigger hole.
  • May not be practical to use when jogging outdoors.
  • No volume control on the microphone. Have to manually take out and adjust.

Verdict: 6.5/10. The weakest points are the practicalities.
Serves its purpose during workout. Just be ready for everything else before and after part if you do buy it.

Today’s post is not quite a beauty related topic but it’s related to what I do or need as a beauty blogger. I am not a gadget girl. I don’t stay up to date with the latest gadget or technology at all. Can you believe it if I tell you that I refused to change my Blackberry Bold to iPhone because of the battery longevity? It doesn’t help if all your friends that are using iPhone complained about the battery. And I always spot my friends charging their phone 24/7. Finally one day my trusted Blackberry Bold gave up on me and so here I am, using iPhone 4S and I become one of those people that charge their phone 24/7 lol.

Being in a full time sales profession by day time and a beauty blogger by night and weekend… I am constantly on the phone regardless on the call, smsing, browsing internet, Instagramming, Facebooking or even checking and replying email. As a beauty blogger I wanted to post “live update” of the events I attend but I wasn’t able to do so as my phone is constantly on low battery.

I never thought of using power bank. Don’t ask me why. Told ya I’m a noob in gadget and technology. When this PME Razor Plus Ultra Slim MX-50 5000mAh Power Bank landed on my lap, I was over the moon.

PME1

PME is a brand that specialise on mobile power solution. I chose Pink over other color because I love Pink, just in case you haven’t notice yet :D. Don’t be fool by the bulky packaging because what you are about to see is nothing close to bulky. The matter of fact it’s the opposite!

PME9
PME MX-50 Power Bank is a 8.8mm ultra slim power bank. The package comes with 2 cables. A microUSB cable with connector (left) and a microUSB with USB connector (right).

MicroUSB cable with connector is to charge your phone with MX-50. It is compatible with smart phones such as iPhone, Samsung, HTC, Sony, Nokia, Blackberry, Motorola, LG and digital camera or bluetooth headset that comes with microUSB charging input. For my iPhone I would need the connector but if your phone is using microUSB, all you need to do is to remove the connector and you are ready to go 🙂

The MX-50 case finishing is reflective with shinny surface. That means the surface attracts fingerprints like no body business. Hey, it’s either you get a bulky matte surface power bank or you get a shinny and slim power bank right? I’d still choose this again if given the chance.

PME2
PME MX-50 is only slightly wider and longer than iPhone 4S. The diameter is about the same. MX-50 measures at 7.3cm width X 12.3cm height (approximately) while iPhone 4S measures at 5.9cm width X 11.5cm height (approximately). It is lighter than iPhone 4S of course. I am quite pleased to find that the fact that both device is about the same size and weight. iPhone size is the max I can take. Anything distinctively larger or heavier than that would be too much for me.

PME3

Charging PME MX-50

The other cable included in the package is a microUSB with USB connector which is meant for charging the MX-50. Here’s the tricky part. This MX-50 can only be charge using PC or laptop USB port. And charging can take up to 8 hours. No kidding. I’m struggling a bit when it comes to charging the MX-50. Normally I’ll plug this device into my laptop’s USB port while crafting out blogpost but that’s only 5 hours. Once I’m done and ready to go to sleep I couldn’t completely shut the laptop down as the power bank is still not done charging. Thank goodness I only need to charge the power bank once in a while say once every 2 weeks…depending how often I use it. But so far it’s only once every two weeks for me 🙂

The Grade A lithium-polymer battery has a 168 hours of battery aging process to enhance safety level and durability. It has a battery cycle life more than 500 charging times. Wow. That’s really A LOT.

PME4
On the MX-50 itself there is only three function on it. A LED switch (left), microUSB input/output (middle) and LED indicator (right). Once you plug the device charging cable to the laptop you will then see three blinking LEDs. Blinking means it’s charging. Once the leftest LED lights up and stop blinking means the battery charges has reached 30%. Two LED lights on means charges has reached 70% full and lastly three LED lights on means it’s fully charged.

One thing to note here. These LED lights doesn’t stays on all the time. It will went off after a few second. Should you need to check the charging status, simply just press onto the LED switch and the LED lights will be on.

PME5

Charging Your Smart Phone

The cable used to charge the smart phone is much more shorter and more convenient. It is actually a microUSB to microUSB cable that comes with a connector for phones like iPhone. As I said earlier you can remove the connector if your phone uses microUSB port.

PME6
Once you plug both ends to respective devices, the charging doesn’t start automatically. I will need to press on the LED switch to switch it on and the charging will then start. Charging smart phone is surprisingly faster. Just like normal cable charging.

A fully charged MX-50 can charge up a totally drained smart phone up to 3 times. If you are thinking that’s too little, well it’s not. Usually I only use the power bank when I’m outside, out of access to any electricity plug.

PME7
PME8
So. Has PME MX-50 changed my life and how I use my phone? You bet it has. Previously I dare not check my phone when the battery level is less than 40%. Now that I know I have a power bank with me in the bag I couldn’t be bothered. This is really useful for me especially when I want to do a live update at a certain event. You know the drill, Facebooking pictures and Instagramming at the same time while replying to all the comments that comes in after that.

Recently I had the chance to bring this power bank out with me during StriVectin X Street Love Tea Party. There’s a lot of Instagramming and Facebooking picture going on and it drained my battery by the second half of the event. I still managed to continue with what I was doing with the help of MX-50. It is not as inconvenient as I think it would be at first. There is no problem taking picture while having this power bank plugged in, so easy to held it on the hand and no it’s not slippery at all.

PME11
The MX-50 fits nicely into the smallest pocket in a handbag. My bag is quite huge and heavy as you can see. So I put this power bank inside the only pocket the bag has – on the front. It’s also easier for me to reach when I needed to charge my phone.

PME12
Here is the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of the PME Razor Plus Ultra Slim MX-50 5000mAh Power Bank for those that are interested.

PME10
* Click to enlarge

My colleague and I had a chat on power bank just this morning. He said it’s the greatest invention ever and it’s brilliant. I couldn’t agree more because it is good to have it around when you are always out and about. Why didn’t I think of getting a power bank before this! No idea why. It just never cross my mind to do so. I’m quite naive when it comes to charging my phone. I always think that I can sneak time and place to charge my phone i.e. in the office and in the car lol.

Crossed out an item from my “worried” list which is to settle phone battery issue 😀
