RMK Pressed Powder N has always been in my to-buy list ever since I had my first RMK makeover last year and I finally got my hands on it a few months ago. It took me this long because it’s one hell of an expensive finishing powder! As I said in an earlier post before this, I love stocking up on finishing powder. The plus point in getting this RMK Pressed Powder N is that it’s refillable, a major cost reduction on long run 😀

There are five different shade to choose from. I chose #03 which bears a tiny blue square on the top right. I’ll tell you why later on 😉

RMK Pressed Powder N1
RMK in my opinion has the simplest, nicest silver matte surface casing. The kind that I appreciate very much. Even though so, this RMK Pressed Powder N double-decked compact is quite bulky. It’s quite small in size but thick. And RMK have a very good reason for that.

The material for the casing is good but also seems cheap in a way that it will be easily cracked if I accidentally put unnecessary pressure to the deck below.

RMK Pressed Powder N2
The reason for the thick casing is because of the powder brush included in a sliding compartment at the bottom. At first I thought the compartment is just a flip top but turns out it’s a sliding type and then I have no idea which way to slide the compartment to! After some fumbling I finally got it. There is absolutely no worries that the compartment will slide out accidentally as it is quite tightly attached.

RMK Pressed Powder N3
Let’s take a look at the powder. RMK Pressed Powder N is a 4 different texture finishing powder that are to be used by blending all four powder together with the powder brush included.

There are 5 different shade to choose from. I was matched with #02 or #03 and I choose #03 because blue are able to brighten complexion and neutralized redness. #02 which bears a pink square on the top right is able to give a subtle glow to the complexion while #01 which is the lightest shade of all is meant for super fair and pale skin. #04 and #05 on the other hand are meant for medium and dark skin tone respectively.

RMK Pressed Powder N4
Here are the individual swatches for RMK Pressed Powder N #03.

A – This whitish powder is to add a flawless translucent veil.
B – Do not look down on this small little blue cube. This blue shade is to brighten and lift the complexion overall.
C – This is the only shimmering powder on the palette. This strip here is to add fine shimmer with the pearlescent blend powder on to the face.
D – Last but not least, this neutral shade is for a natural coverage over unevenness and visible pores.

RMK Pressed Powder N5
The brush included is a square brush that are quite well-made. At first I used this brush to apply my powder on but find that the brush deposited too much powder on initial landing area so I have no choice but to kept this aside. Anyhow…face brush is much more faster 😀

RMK Pressed Powder N6

RMK Pressed Powder N7
Rather than the heavy swatch by finger earlier, applying RMK Pressed Powder N with a brush gives a more subtle illuminating finishing to the face. It does looked powdery due to the shimmering texture but this will not be visible on the face 🙂

RMK Pressed Powder N8
One thing to take note. This finishing powder is kinda “moist and creamy” that I feel too moist for my oily skin. It was no doubt that the powder just glides on smooth and stick on to any pre-base makeup applied earlier but over-applying this could end up giving the face that extra shine that oily skin wouldn’t appreciate.

Despite the rave everywhere on this finishing powder for combination and oily skin, I don’t find it as mattifying as raved. In fact my face oiled up pretty fast especially if I over-apply this powder. This is due to the moist texture. Personally I prefer my finishing powder to be more drier. I also read something about this covering pores. Well, my pores is still visible and not totally covered as raved.

What I do like about RMK Pressed Powder N is the fact that there is no wide variety of shade to choose and give headache to. Basically I just need to think what I need – glowy complexion or brighter complexion :D. Some liquid foundation do oxidize on me so I would choose brighter complexion anytime.

Another thing I don’t like about this powder is how the shimmers tend to clumped up and give me this whitish cast all over the face by noon time especially after my face oiled up. It is one ugly scene.

RMK Pressed Powder N9
In a nutshell, I am not crazy over this RMK Pressed Powder N but not hating it all the way either. With the hefty price tag I am sure I can find a cheaper substitute to this finishing powder. Although RMK do offer refill that are sold separately, I am not sure if I will repurchase it. For my skin type I would prefer something that offer better oil control. I suppose normal and dry skin will appreciate this product more than I do.

RMK Pressed Powder N is available at all RMK counter at Isetan KLCC, Isetan The Gardens and Parkson Pavilion.
Price: RM160, Refill is priced at RM120

I decided to post this up eventhough it has been a few week since Kanebo Cosmetics Inc. announced their voluntary product recall early July 2013. Reason being is that I find that the product list posted by every other portal is different from the one I have from Kanebo press release.

I will separate the press release into two. Do read entirely 🙂

Kanebo Cosmetics Inc., Lissage Ltd. and E’quipe Ltd.

Kanebo Cosmetics Inc., Lissage Ltd. and E’quipe, Ltd. have decided to recall the brightening productsfrom the Japanese market containing the quasi-drug ingredient  Rhododenol 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanol. The voluntary recall wasinitiated after a discovery that consumers who have used certain brightening products manufactured and sold by Kanebo  Cosmetics Inc. and its affiliates Lissage Ltd. and E’quipe Ltd. have reported the appearance of white blotches on their skin. The brightening products in question all contain Rhododenol. Rhododenol is an active quasi-drug ingredient approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in accordance with the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act after passing extensive safety tests. As long as there is the possibility of a connection between Rhododenol and the symptoms mentioned above, Kanebo Cosmetics Lissage Ltd. and E’quipe Ltd. have decided to voluntarily recall all of their products containing it.

RMK (E’quipe Ltd.)

p01-130705-a1
e’quipe Ltd., (e’quipe) has announced a voluntary suspension of three RMK Brightening skincare products containing the ingredient Rhododenol. This is a precautionary measure from e’quipe, following recent reports of consumers in Japan suffered white blotches as a result of using brightening skincare products from other brands of group company Kanebo Cosmetics containing Rhododenol.
Relevant products are:
1) RMK Skintuner Brightening Moist
2) RMK Skintuner Brightening Light
3) RMK Intensive Brightening Essence

Having passed extensive safety tests, Rhododenol 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanol, an active ingredient, was approved in 2008 by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in accordance with the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.

No similar case of reported symptom after using the above mentioned RMK products has been found in other trading countries than Japan domestic market and the connection between Rhododendol and the symptom is under investigation.

No other RMK products are affected.

I am not someone that will chase for the latest launch but I am more of a someone that will let the hype subside first, wait for a few reviews to pop up in Google and then only I will get my hands on the product that I had my eyes on. So yeap. You will not see me running like a mad woman to the counter when new collection is launched.

Surprisingly there wasn’t a lot of review or coverage on RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes despite being launched back in September 2012 for Autumn/Winter collection. I saw this popped out at a forum for a steal price so I grabbed 04 Iridescent Deep Purple.

RMK112
RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes #04 Iridescent Deep Purple is a dual shaded eyeshadow palette that comes in a shiny silver casing that of course attract finger prints and dirt. The design is kept minimal with only the brand name printed in the middle on the front of the palette.

The back is also kept minimal with product description sticker that is in Japanese, which is not unusual for RMK.

RMK113
The eyeshadow placement in the palette is quite unique. Instead of a block of color side by side, this one had the lightest shade in the middle while surrounded with a ring of darker shade. At first I thought it’s cute but as I started using it then only I know it is not practical at all since my Sigma brush is too huge for the darker shade especially.

As you can see the lighter purple on the palette is slightly discolored due to multiple usage. I think this is quite normal for eyeshadow palette. And the line on the darker purple is scratched accidentally by my finger nail.

RMK114
RMK does pretty eyeshadow and some said it’s very shimmering. I love shimmers. I would be really happy if this is as shimmering as claimed or as on palette. On the palette no double it can look deceiving. Deep Iridescent Eyes is formulated with polarised Pearlescent Particles. It is said that the particles are to add mesmerising depth of spectrum and twist on the black hue as you’ve never seen before. Confuse? Yeah me too. I will show you what does RMK mean by “mesmerising depth of spectrum and twist on the black hue”.

RMK115

RMK116
On first swatch I can feel that the color is soft and glides on smoothly. The lighter purple is as light as on the palette, just the way I would want it to be as this color would be applied on the inner corner of my eyes.

The darker purple on the other hand is darker than I expected. It is almost impossible to say that this is a dark purple. It does appear more to darker grey.

RMK117
This is how I would wear RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes #04 Iridescent Deep Purple on my eyes. RMK eyeshadow is known to be quite sheer although I don’t really have any issue with that. If you are not a fan of their sheer eyeshadow then you will be glad to know that this is more pigmented than expected.

RMK118
Here you see the lighter purple shade that is swiped up till the crease from the inner corner of the eyes till the 3/4 of the lid. I also swipe on the teat duct and 1/4 of the lower lash line. For some reason the color turns darker after it sets. This is what I dislike about this palette. I didn’t expect this at all!

The darker purple shade is only applied on the balance 1/4 of the outer lid and on the balance 3/4 of the lower lash line up till the outer end. The shade is so dark that my overall eye-do looked smokey. This is what was meant by “mesmerising depth of spectrum and twist on the black hue”. It is a dark purple but appears black-ish.

RMK119
To be frank I am really disappointed with how the color turnout to be. I bought this because I wanted to wear purple to work. Because it turns smokey, I won’t be able to wear this often. It is just not suitable for daily wear. Sorry!

RMK120
As much as I wanted this RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes #04 Iridescent Deep Purple to be more shimmering, somehow it turns matte on me leaving all the shimmer behind. I wish the lighter shade remain as light as it is without turning dark on me while the darker shade is lesser black hue and more purple. With both shade on it is hard to tell if I had the lighter shade on because it seems that both shade had sort of blended together. I’ve tried reapplying after I’ve done with the overall do using the brush that was included but it’s still the same. Oh well, no luck for me.

RMK121

RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes #04 Iridescent Deep Purple was bought from a forum at a steal.
Price: RM45. Retail Price: RM110

Since CNY is just around the corner and I’m already on leave so I thought I’d wake up earlier to do this makeup tips post. I have been wanting to post this up months ago but just didn’t have the time. This is a tips from Adrian Sin; Burberry and RMK Beauty Trainer which I picked up at RMK makeover last year. It is simple and yet useful and versatile for everyday wear that I’ve been implementing to my daily makeup myself.

Before I start I must mention a disclaimer in advance as I know some of you can be quite judgmental and harsh. I’m no makeup expert, this is a tips that I picked up personally from a makeup guru which I think is worth to be share to you guys as I had the privilege to meet and had my makeup done by Adrian not once but twice. And during numerous encounter with Adrian I managed to get some pointers, tips and tricks from him.

Ready?

MUTips13_1
I’m not going to talk about prep-ing your face with skin care or base makeup. I assume you guys are expert now. I’m just going to jump directly to the main topic which is using pencil eyeliner as eye makeup base.

Prior before that I prep my lid with Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP in short). I’ve been using this since last year and a tube really last long. Normally I would dust some loose powder on top of UDPP as I find that eyeshadow will crease-free longer. UDPP is not that effective for me by the way. Totally up to you if you want to dust with loose powder or not. I need it and you may not.

MUTips14_1
(1) Take your favorite pencil eyeliner. I used to use Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil #01 Onyx which is a dark crayon eye pencil. But today I decided to use Guerlain Eye-Liner & Kohl which I bought a few months ago.
Just apply pencil eyeliner on the lid. Crayon eye pencil are easier to smudge so totally up to you how high you want to apply. For me I just need to line a thick line. Don’t worry about unevenness or if it’s not perfect.

P/S: Look at how smooth my under eye after StriVectin-TL™ 360° Tightening Eye Serum!

(2) After that smudge the eyeliner with a pencil brush or whichever brush that works for you. I’m using Ecotools Smudge brush. It’s small but not too small. Smudge the eyeliner upwards towards the crease. Once again don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect.

(3) Apply eyeshadow over the lid like usual. Here I’m using Burberry Beauty Complete Eye Palette # Pink Taupe No.07. All the unperfected eyeliner will automatically become natural and doesn’t look crooked as before. Don’t worry about applying the shadow on top of the eyeliner. You’re suppose to apply over the eyeliner.

(4) This step is not necessary but I did it anyway to show you how intensify it will do to your eyes with this step. Plus it’s easier to do eyeliner after Step 1-3 as it doesn’t have to be perfect lol. In this step I did the usual 1-line eyeliner using the same Guerlain Eye-Liner & Kohl.
After that continue to do tightlining, line your lower eyelash and apply some pearl white eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eyes follow by mascara on both upper and lower eyelashes.

The end result. My eyelid are the hidden type cause I think I have huge round eyeball haha! I know you can’t see properly here but fret not. I’ve include more pictures below.

MUTips15
Here is the 3-view look. Click on the image for larger version. From this 3-view photo you can see that the black base is actually a lot darker than the Step 1-4 picture. It’s the lighting 🙂

I absolutely like this tips from Adrian. Not only that I can skip eyeliner when I’m feeling lazy or when I don’t have enough time to properly do an eyeliner, this simple step also makes my eyes larger and intensify the look of it. I notice that as the hours went by the black base became more natural as if it’s more blended with the eyeshadow.
