Sometime in October, I had a bad breakout that lasted for a month. At that time I was desperate for a quick solution. As you already know, I’m not a big fan of Korean skincare because some of the are too hydrating on me hence giving me that oily complexion. But some, I love. You know who I turned to when I was doing my research on breakout skincare? The Korean brand of course! Koreans are known for their fair and flawless skin. I want that skin too so I started googling my way to find more info on which Korean skincare brand and products that are able to help with my breakout as well as to give me some of that flawless skin. I stumbled upon a few useful article at ProductNation Malaysia. They have varieties of useful articles on all the latest product reviews and roundups, featuring consumer favourites, on-trend reviews and many more in Malaysia. Beauty wise, ProductNation focuses more on Korean beauty trend, which is exactly right down my alley.

Here are what I learnt from my research and what works best for my skin.

Soothing Cleanser

There are a lot of cleanser specifically meant for acne/oily skin but one of the article in ProductNation mentioned about “soothing” combination skin. The Green Tea line from Innisfree is one of my favourite line so I will recommend this Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Foam. Besides the green tea extracts, it also has amino acids and minerals to keep the skin supple, smooth and sooth skin irritation. Plus it smells amazing too!

Skin Freshener

This may sound a little cheezy because Mamonde sent me a bottle of the Rose Water Toner a few months ago but the fact is, the Mamonde Rose Water Toner is one of the best toner available in the market, if not in the Korean brand range. For someone who love everything rose, this toner has 90.89% of real rose water extracted from Bulgaria’s Damask roses. Now, where do you get a toner a pure as this! It doesn’t contain mineral oil and all the bad synthetic pigments making this toner absolutely safe to use even for the most sensitive skin.

Soft Face Scrub

Do I even need to say more about this Skin Food Black Sugar Mask? I bought 11 tubs of this and it is the only scrub I used to date. And that it was under one of the product recommendation at ProductNation makes me feel good about my product choice lol. I like this because the sugar will melts off as you are rubbing it on your face therefore it is not painful or harmful to the skin. The skin turned to super smooth, soft and supple after rinsing. I cannot tell you enough how much I love this.

Da Bomb Cream

Over the recent months, I have been extremely intrigued with the brand Belif. I didn’t even know they’re a Korean brand! I’ve heard so much about Belif especially The True Cream – Aqua Bomb. I heard that this one is quite a seller and sort of blossomed into a must-have product. It is a gel moisturizer and has the ability to provide intense moisturization minus the sticky feeling. That is why this product are highly raved everywhere. Besides this cream, there are tons of other more products from Belif that I’ve heard of. Must try to clear out my medium-sized Sephora at home before splurging at Belif

Must-Have Sleeping Mask

If you don’t have at least a tub of the cult Laneige Water Sleeping Mask at home, where have you been! I absolutely LOVE the original blue version and when Laneige launched the Lavender scented Water Sleeping Mask, it sent everyone out running to purchase it. That was because it is a limited edition launch here in Malaysia. I’m going to sound cheezy again because I am using the exact Lavender one at the moment and I’m not surprised ProductNation also recommended it as one of the top 10 Korean skincare products for combination skin.

Pimple Clear Pads

This one is really a no-brainer product to have which I think everyone who constantly has breakout should own at home. The Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pads are already pre-soaked in betaine salicylate and willow bark water. It has dual function as a toner and chemical exfoliant. All done after cleansing without irritating the skin. It is said to be super effective in clearing up pimples and cystic acne on the face, chest and even back acne as well. I say this is one bomb product to own. Super convenient too!

Never Skip Whitening

I spoke about the importance of using a whitening product to help lighten the acne marks even before it turned to a mark so many times here in the blog so how could I missed out the Laneige White Dew Original Ampoule Essence. White Dew range is a new range launched not too long again. Always incorporate minimum one whitening product in your skincare routine. It can be a serum, essence or cream. Whichever that is convenient for you and suits your routine. This one particular is a highly concentrated ampoule essence. Not only it can help with improving uneven skin tone, it also said to give a glowing skin. I just recently took out the cream version to use and I didn’t have anything bad to say about it.

One Last Important Product – Clay Mask!

In my recent Breakout Skincare Post, I talk about using mud mask aka clay mask as a must-have weekly treatment ritual. It is important to use something to suck out all the gunks from the inside. The Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask one is not a bad one except that it can be pretty dry. Having said that, I like how the mask contains 6020 mg of Jeju volcanic clay which is effective in removing impurities. It also comes in a mousse version which in my opinion is more convenient. Both works the same and dries down completely. It does have a volcanic ashy scent to it that makes the whole treatment feels like as if you are scooping real volvanic ashes and apply it on your face

Bear in mind these are just some of the products that I find suits my skin and preference. There are tons and tons more products that are also suitable for breakout skin so please do your research thoroughly. You will be amazed with what you can find through Google.

The weather has been so hot lately that pimples are popping out like no body’s business. I have been keeping these three Oxy products for the emergency days and it seems like the days is NOW. My skincare routine is so complicated that when I was handed just three products for a pimple free skin, you bet I froze. I did not know what to do with simplified skincare routine. Lucky for me, this is not rocket science and the result has been good so far.

Combating a breakout regardless a minor or major breakout can be simple. First you need to figure out the right facial wash, spot treatment cream, and lastly pimple mark prevention. The last step can either be achieved with a whitening cream or a special product like the below.

Deep Cleansing Wash (RM8.50 / 50g or RM13.90 / 100g)

I have talked about numerous Oxy cleansing wash before and so far each of it has been kind to my skin, without over-drying it. Some anti-pimple facial wash can be a little too drying when used for a duration of time. This one? It does not do all that. Deep Cleansing Wash contain Isopropyl Methylphenol and Salicylic Acid to help remove dead skin cells and to remove impurities from the pores. Unclogging the pores will help to prevent pimples.

OXY 10 (RM11.50 / 10g or RM19.90 / 25g)

I remember during my high school days I love Oxy pimple cream. Those days there are just one variant from OXY and if I remember correctly it is in brown colour. The OXY 10 helps to kill acne bacteria without drying the spot like other pimple treatment product. The cream is light-weight, comes in a milk white shade, and it does not have any chemical strong scent. It took me about two applications (or 2 nights) to get the pimple fully subsided. What I like about this OXY 10 is that it does not force the gunk to surface up. Usually in this case extraction is needed to get the pimple to go down. To my surprise, my pimples subsided without any extraction needed!

Anti-Pimple Mark (RM14.80 / 12g)

I have reviewed the Anti-Pimple Mark Gel and talked about it so many times on my Instagram so I am not going in detail with this. Just click on the link to read my review . This is the one product which I have repurchased about 10 times by now. It is a product not only used to lighten pimple marks but also to smoothen skin, prevent future blemishes and revitalizes skin cells. I also found out that this gel can be used on top OXY 10. More reasons to love this gel more.

Combating a breakout should not be complicated or expensive. Even affordable and trusted brand such as OXY works as well

I love love love cleanser. And I love drugstore cleanser especially the one from Oxy. Just earlier this month Oxy came out with a HOT PINK new cleanser. The Oxy Ultimate Cleanser is a 8-in-1 multi-action cleanser for acne, blackhead, and oily skin. Phew! That is one hella lot claims Oxy!

I was excited when I get this from the mail. First of all, the hot pink. I know, silly me. But you know pink and white is like my most favourite colour . And Oxy is a known brand for problematic skin. Recently I have been getting bumps and breakouts, which I have no idea what causes it. So this cleanser came at the right time.

The most common skin problems especially for us in a hot and humid country are oily skin, acne, and blackheads. Having an oily skin alone cause trigger other skin problems such as pimples, acnes, and blackheads. That is why Oxy came out with this Ultimate Cleanser. It is a 8-in-1 Multi-Action Cleanser that claimed to clear, fresh, and give blemish-free skin with 8 multiple functions.

What are the 8 multiple functions? Are you ready? This is a lot to digest. Even for me lol.

1. Fight pimples – with Isopropyl Methylphenol, and anti-bacterial properties.
2. Anti-blackheads – by removing dead skin cells and trapped dirts.
3. Unclog pores – unclogging pores by penetrating deep down.
4. Removes excess oil – cleanse dirt and remove excess sebum which causes pimples by penetrating deep into the pores.
5. Deep cleanses – cleanses the skin gently to clear pimple-causing impurities.
6. Moisturizes skin – with Sage Extract, Seaweed Extract, and Olive Oil to prevent dryness.
7. Soothes skin – with Dipotassium Glycyrrhiznate to soothes irritated skin.
8. Refreshes skin – with menthol for instant cooling sensation.

The cleanser comes in a semi-hard texture, very easy to squeeze out from the soft tube. It does not contain any smell at all, which surprises me.

Oxy Ultimate Cleanser foams up pretty well. It is just nice and not too foamy. I certainly did not expect the cleanser to contain menthol so I was literally shocked to wake up in the morning when I used the cleanser for the first time haha! The cooling sensation only kicks in on full force during rinsing. I was in a semi-wake state at that time and I thought what happened to my face. Thank goodness my eyes were shut tightly as I can feel the menthol on my lid. So my advice when using this cleanser is to be aware not to let any water or foam seeps into the corner of your eyes. After using this cleanser for the next consecutive days, I actually like it very much. I am not so much of a minty or menthol person but this cleanser is the first cooling cleanser I have used and I like it. I loveeee the “wake me up” cooling sensation it gave to my skin. It is definitely refreshing to use.

After sitting on the new Papulex™ Gel for a few weeks, I finally had to use it last night. It must be the skin care that I’m using because I haven’t had any breakout for quite some time *touch wood*. Then I did something really stupid. I was generous with the amount of Innisfree Orchid Intense Cream to use two nights ago and I woke up with a few pimples. Thus came this review

Although Papulex is a brand that was clinically proven to be effective on acne, I have never heard about it before. The brand focuses on improving skin appearance by reducing breakouts and making sure that the skin appears healthy and revitalised at the same time. In fact, 99% acne sufferers saw noticeable improvement with their skin condition in just six weeks of usage.

First thing first, the tube is HUGE. This tube alone would probably last me for years to come. It is by far the one and only super size anti-blemish gel I’ve ever seen . The only thing I don’t like is the nozzle. I wish it came with a pointy tip instead because the gel keep leaking out. The good news is, there is a way to solve this oozing issue. What I like to do is to turn the tube upside down, tap it on the table a few times before unscrewing the cap off.

Papulex Gel comes in a clear, gel-ish texture. It is fragrance free and paraben free. This gel contains Alcohol Denat in it’s ingredient. You will find most skin care for oily / acne skin does contain this ingredient as the purpose is to dry out the skin and it acts as a quick fix. So although this gel is basically scentless, you will still smell a slight alcohol scent in it. Comparing with tea tree blemish gel, Papulex Gel definitely smells better in so many ways.

Basically this gel is to be used on localized spot morning and night after the usual skin care routine. I patted it on three pimples yesterday night before bed and woke up with fully subsided pimples! Seriously I didn’t expect this at all so I didn’t even have a photo to show you the before and after as the pimple formation came too sudden and I wasn’t even prepared. Besides the few pimples, I also had two bulge forming underneath the skin. I can’t see it but I can feel it with my finger and the pain reminds me that it’s there. I didn’t know what to expect from the gel but I thought I should try my luck and apply some of the gel onto the bulge. The next day the bulge subsided a little bit and the gel somehow brought it to head. So I continue applying on the same night and the next morning it was gone. I was pretty impressed with how fast it works on pimples

Unlike tea tree blemish gel, this Papulex Gel doesn’t sting or feels minty on my skin. I actually like this type as I’m definitely not a fan of anything stinging or minty to begin with. I like treatment product to feel like as if I don’t have anything on and this Papulex Gel fits the bill.
