Ever since I started watching YouTube, I notice that quite a number of beauty guru prefer pencil eyeliner than liquid eyeliner. It is understandable due to skin type and weather differences. So why are you reading this if I’ve given up on pencil eyeliner, eh? The story goes like this. I went back to work not too long ago and since it’s a different office environment, I no longer have the privilege to do my makeup in the office. So I have to rush everything in the morning and doing a precise eyeliner using a liquid pen is too time consuming for me especially when I’m doing my makeup in a dark room.
Today I’m going to share with you my favourite pencil eyeliners, tips, tricks and three different application method that you can master too.
I have oily lid so kohl or normal pencil eyeliner will not work on my lid. The only two brands and type that I find doesn’t smudge on me are Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner and MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes. I bought these from their 2014 holiday collection but fret not, these are permanent so you can get it from Sephora anytime.
Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner is probably the highest raved and talk about. However I don’t like the twist mechanic. I had one from Stila In The Know palette and I thought it was faulty. In the end I ruined the pencil eyeliner and I still didn’t know what went wrong. When I Google for an answer then only I found out that the twisting mechanic is different from others. It requires a few rounds of twisting to get the lead up and once it’s up, it won’t go down again. It’s a one-way twist mechanic. The only downside of this is that the lead will always be blunt.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes is my latest favourite. Their AQUA series is my absolute favourite as it is made to withhold water, sweat and sebum. At first I wasn’t keen with the need to sharpen the pencil and after using it for a few times, I’m glad I can sharpen it, unlike Stila Smudge Stick.
Stila and MAKE UP FOR EVER comes in a different packaging but the formula is quite similar. Both are extremely creamy, smooth, easy to apply, intense pigmentation and of course waterproof. Once they set, they stays on until I remove them with eye makeup remover. Somehow for pencil eyeliner, I’m not keen with black. Instead I opt for brown or any color that is dark enough to give my eyes definition. Just not black black.
I think I have around 10 pieces of Stila Smudge Stick and MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes that I’m constantly thinking of different method to use them. At the moment I’m on three different method. It’s very simple. Once you know the trick, you will find yourself having fun using pencil eyeliner that you didn’t want to go back to liquid eyeliner like I do.
Let’s begin with a simple and versatile method that even somebody that doesn’t put on makeup will be able to do in a jiffy. There is a gap between the upper lash line with inner lash line and waterline. Just take a brow comb or a cotton bud, place it on the lid and gently press down to reveal the inner lash line. Line the inner lash line entirely. I like to go all the way to waterline as well. You will notice that the eyes are more awaken, fresh, bigger and more define when you line the inner lash line. I like to do this when I don’t feel well because I can just swipe on a light eye shadow on the entire lid and off to work. All these are done in less than 5 minutes.
This is probably the one method that I do on daily basis and it’s my favourite too. Most beauty guru prefer to do winged eyeliner using pencil because of the softer look and opaque matte finishing the pencil gives. I have friends telling me that they like to use pencil eyeliner but they can’t do a flick at the end. Yes you can. Just use the cellotape method. You can start any way you like but I always start with the flick first. Line the inner lash line and waterline as well. And who say it’s hard with pencil eyeliner, eh? In fact this method is way easier and faster than liquid eyeliner.
I learnt this trick a few years ago from Burberry makeup artist, Adrian Sin. In fact, I’ve done a tutorial post before . This is probably a method that I can be hooked for weeks because it’s really very simple and fast. When working with pencil eyeliner, always remember to work fast. Do one eye at a time. Simply just draw a line on the upper lash line. The line doesn’t need to be precise. Then use a small smudge brush and start smudging the eyeliner up. I like to add more eyeliner near the lash line for more definition. Then apply any shade of eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner. The best part of this look is that nothing need to be precise. Don’t forget the inner lash line and waterline as well.

]]>Soooo. I’ve totally missed October and November 2014 favourites. I went back to working life and I didn’t expect to be home that late and the need to work on weekend as well. For the past one month, I’ve totally missed all the usual blogging schedule. I’d be lying to you if I tell you I didn’t panic. I did. I tried adjusting my life back to blogging but I really couldn’t find the time. There was so much to do and catch up on weekend. I didn’t even have the time to take photo for the blog. It is a tough time for me so please bear with me for a little while more. I want to thank each and every one of you for the never ending support and love. You girls rocks! <3
Since I missed October and November 2014 favourites, I thought it only make sense for me to post up December 2014 Favourites sooner than expected otherwise I’d miss it again. This month is all about the eyeliner pencils. It really is. Until I started to dig out my other favourites to balance out the eyeliner pencil overload LOL.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette (Large)
I’ve been wanting a mixing palette for quite some time. The one I wanted is MAKE UP FOR EVER but I always thought it’s expensive. I knew Inglot have it too but I don’t want Inglot’s lol. I think of this day and night and even dreamt of it (see, I think too much) and so one day I emailed the lady at MUFE to ask for the price. To my surprise, she told me the small one cost RM20 while the large one cost RM25. I bought the large flat steel palette and I think I will be going back for the small one. Actually the large one is just perfect. I have a room to hold the palette, to swirl my foundation brush on a section, another section for eyebrow gel and so on. I’m just itching to get the small one as collection . I’ve been using this everyday since I got it. I never use the back of my hand for foundation or for any makeup product anymore.
Small Glass Container
You see this coming didn’t you? . This container is also something that I’ve wanted since the first day I step into SSF. The price tag? RM79.90! It’s crazy expensive although I think member price is RM69.90? I can’t remember. It is still expensive. I’m glad I hold on to not purchasing it because this container was on sale for RM39.90 (members only) from 10th Oct until 2nd Nov 2014. I couldn’t make up my mind if I want to purchase it and finally I drove to SSF Puchong on the last day and grab one. I’m glad I did because it is so pretty. I used this to keep all my cosmetic cotton bud because the larger container that you see on the back is too heavy to be lifted up everyday. I might risk dropping the lid and broke it hehe. The container is so shiny that my camera just couldn’t focus on it. Sigh.
Guerlain Météorites Wulong Exceptional Pressed Powder
Despite owning four Guerlain Meteorites product at the moment, I don’t use it very often now as I’m constantly rushing out the door and this step is not so important. However when I’m feeling luxury, I’d reach out for this pressed version instead. I saved a lot of time swirling the brush into the can because this pressed powder doesn’t require much effort in getting the product onto the brush. Wulong is actually more shimmery than the rest I own so a quick dusting is all I need. I also happen to like this more. For some reason I see a better result as to compare with others.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes, Stila Smudge Stick & Wet n’ Wild Coloricon Brow & Eye Liner
It’s all about eyeliner pencils for me this month. I don’t have the luxury to do liquid eyeliner so pencil is a quicker solution for me. I have a Stila Smudge Stick but I sort of messed up the twist mechanic and wasted the whole lead so I have to get new one. I bought a set of Stila Flawless Gems Smudge Stick Trio and a set of MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Duo Set that comes with two 25L Matte Brown. I absolutely love all of it! I never imagine myself liking eyeliner pencils this much until I bought five at one go. When Wet n’ Wild is made available in SaSa IOI City Mall, I went to take a look and bought the Coloricon Brow & Eye Liner in 655 Charcoal. I thought the shade is like the ZA Ever Brows and it turns out too dark for my brow so I’m using it mainly as eyeliner and to line my upper waterline as well as in between lashes.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
Yeap. I finally gave in to the much talked about Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. I was waiting for Net-a-Porter to re-offer free express shipping and finally it came back on Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale. This blush palette was retailing for USD68.13 but I paid USD61.94. Probably due to the sale event. After convertion, the palette cost RM215. Ouch! The palette is quite small. Each blush pan is even more smaller than expected. However I do admit it’s way worthy to get this than the single that’s retailing for USD45. What’s funny about this palette is that I always always always over applied it. I do my makeup in a dark room at 6am in the morning so I can’t really see anything and kept on applying. What I’m amazed is, eventhough I over applied the blush, I still look good and glowy. It also gave me a cheek line. What’s not to love right?
MAKE UP FOR EVER 124 Powder Kabuki
I have had this kabuki for a few months now and it’s sitting in my drawer since then. This kabuki is specially designed to work hand-in-hand with MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Powder. I finally bought a full size MUFE HD Powder from Zalora’s 12.12 Online Fever sale so I happily took the kabuki out, gave it a good bath and used it with the powder. It’s AMAZING. So soft, doesn’t remove the foundation that was on my face and it doesn’t need a lot of product to work on. Why do I took this long to use it eh?

]]>If you’ve been to Sephora lately you’d probably notice the handful Stila Holiday Collection 2014. I find them to be interesting this year and I have my eyes on a few sets too. So I took a casual browsing at Stila official website and found even more holiday sets.
Once again, bear in mind these information are extracted from Stila official website which means we may or may not get everything here. And also I could have missed one or a few sets as some holiday set are exclusive to other international store. Although I’ve stated in every of my Holiday Gift Guide 2014 posts that you have got to go Sephora to check yourself if any of the set that you had your eyes on are available or not and I still get lots of enquiry or feedback telling me you couldn’t find it. That is because Sephora Malaysia don’t bring in all of the set available. Hope this clears up something
This year Stila celebrates the holidays with curated cosmetic collections and a special collaboration with BaubleBar. This special collaboration is to celebrate 20 memorable holiday seasons with Stila and for the brand’s worldwide love through the decades.

]]>Another 2 parcel arrived yesterday =)
First parcel is my lil MAC Limited Edition Adoring Carmine purchase.
Inside I found another Thank You note and my haul is in a cute Hello Kitty bag.
A closer view on the cute bag.
MAC Adoring Carmine Lipstick in Soft Spot & Lipglass in My Dear. These two is from Adoring Carmine #3 set [Neutral Lips]. I skip Real Treasure lipstick as it’s kinda dark for me.
The lipstick is not as dark as the picture. I failed to capture the real colour. It’s actually quite light.
The colour is kinda like a light pink. Almost transparent I would say.
MAC Adoring Carmine lipstick smell is similar to cocoa butter and it’s not drying to the lips. I like it very much. The lipglass colour payoff is better and shinny. It’s sticky but not till the extend where you can’t wait to take it off. Quite moisturizing though. The smell is also like cocoa butter. However the downside is you’d get a white line on your inner lips almost immediately.
My second lil haul is Stila!
It’s not a problem if you don’t have the casing as the eyeshadow comes in a plastic holder. Both shadow is powder shadow. Light pink is with a few shimmer (I mean really a few) while purple is a dead powder colour.
Label on the back of the plastic holder is removable easily. You can stick it to your casing. And I did!
This is how the casing looks like. The black thing you see is actually magnet! I think the hole is for you to poke in if you want to remove the eyeshadow out.
Eyeshadow safely transfered to the new casing. I’m quite surprise the duo is not stuck together. It’s actually on separate pan.
Here’s the swatches. Colour payoff is bad. I have to swipe a few times for this swatch.
Stila Single Eyeshadow in Kitten. Bought this as a highlight and base for eyeshadow.
The casing is actually a metal casing.
It’s a silky and shimmering skin tone shadow and colour payoff is superb!
I wore the duo eyeshadow today and I had problem applying as the colour payoff is just bad. My RM5 Daiso eyeshadow is way better than this. After a few hours the eyeshadow is not there anymore lol.
