L’Occitane is running a fundraising campaign by selling the L’Occitane Aromachologie Relaxing Candle 25g. Proceeds raised ill go to the newly established division of the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) – Deafblind & Multi-Handicapped Unit. The funds will be used for the rehabilitation and education of children with visual impairment, empowering them with the knowledge and skills required to get ahead in life.
As I needed to collect my FB contest prize from One Utama outlet and I wanted to do my part for charity, I bought 5 pcs (in picture there’s only 4 as I’ve given 1 to Fennie on the same day) of the scented candles for my friends. After being put off at cashier counter, I later was told by one of the sales girl who was attending to a customer at the cashier counter (which is why I was told to wait for 10-15mins just to make payment) that they only accept cash for charity related products. While I was paying for the scented candle I asked if 100% of the sales will go to the foundation or certain percentage. The sales girl (different sales girl who’s more polite) replied only a certain percentage after deducting the cost will go to the foundation.
25g might sound very small but it’s quite OK considering the thick glass container that was used. The gift card attached is a good touch.

i respect your honesty in revealing how you were treated in those high-end stores as this is truly what 90% of ordinary people will face including me. recently I went to l’occitane- not in selangor or kl,(1st time buying something) and bought a piece of RM42 soap and an SA asked politely if i would like to buy up to RM250 to become a member. I don’t want to be lured into spending more money after becoming a member. Remember the posts you made about decorating the christmas tree contest? i think it’s ridiculous. why not just give away for free? i hate creams of all sorts anyway so i do not appreciate the opportunity.
Exactly! These high-end stores have been giving me problem and I’m angry because I’m paying to get problems! Just be smart and walk away when they are rude or unattentive. I’d rather not buy anything and spend elsewhere that appreciate my sales. Have you try going to KLCC one? They are much better than other place.
Buying a RM42 soap and asked to top-up until RM250 just to become a member is just insane. I wouldn’t want either cause I only need the soap.
LOL @ the Christmas tree contest. I think I know what they are up to. That is actually an activity based on an app in Facebook. Sometimes it’s not about the free gift. They just want to create some engagement with their fans. My company does social media for many brands so I can understand why :). Many people would just think like you too – why not give away for free to everyone.
