Originating from the coast of Asia Minor, the sea lily then acclimatized itself to the sandy shores of the Mediterranean and Atlantic coast of Brittany. This wonder of nature, with its incredible beauty and pure whiteness, also has the exceptional capacity to survive on windswept sands exposed to the merciless sun. Despite its hardy nature, the sea lily is threatened with extinction due to the destruction of its natural coastal habitat and is now a protected species in France. Consequently, the flowers are not picked from wild plants but specially cultivated for Clarins in Britanny.

Sea lily: the extension of dendrites is controlled

A powerful flower used in Clarins White Plus HP, it has the ability to control the extension of dendrites –the “arms” of melanocytes which deliver melanin pigments to the epidermis. The new discovery from the research revealed two roles of the proteins found in this morphological process: Rac 1 protein which cause the extension of dendrites and RhoA protein which encourages their retraction. Sea lily incorporated in the White Plus HP range, has the ability to control the action of these two proteins and effectively reduce the transfer of melanin to the epidermis.

Besides Sea lily, the combination of active ingredients with whitening properties promises the widest protection against all factors contributing to hyperpigmentation, both inside and outside the melanocyte.

Other active ingredients

Alchemilla extracts help to slows down the excessive transfer of melanin to the epidermis.

Raspberry extract, a highly stable vitamin C derivative (ascorbyl-2-glucoside) and biotin (vitamin B8) slows down the synthesis of melanin.

With the combination of Alchemilla, raspberry and parsley, it works on the microcirculation, where these actives ingredients helps revive complexion radiance and restore a beautiful, transparent and rosy glow.
