More than a week ago I was invited to be a part of the media launch of a leading botanical haircare, skincare and lifestyle brand from America; Aveda™ which was held at Pietro Restaurant, Damansara Heights.
We were greeted with a cup of Aveda™ Comforting Tea at registration table. I was told there will be several series of ritual upstairs and this comforting tea ritual is the first. It was a caffeine-free herbal blend for soothing and relaxing. Pretty refreshing with the minty peppermint taste. It taste familiar but just couldn’t recall where I tasted this tea. I was told that every visitor to Aveda™ will be served with this tea on every visit. How often do we get tea when we step into a shop right?
There were three different sensory ritual after the tea ritual. Aveda™ set up different station for every media to try.
I went for the first one which is the Stress-relieving Shoulders Ritual. This ritual is a calming wellness experience for neck and shoulders using the power of touch to relax, balance, release tension. Wonderful. I kinda like the Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate for a quick stress-reliever which I could carry in my handbag.
The next ritual that I experienced is Stress-Relieving Hand Ritual. Oh god the Hand Relief™ is so good! Always love a good hand massage.
Even other guests at the venue love it too!
I moved on to the last ritual which is the Aveda™ Sensory Journey (if I’m not mistaken). It was a sensory adventure as I was guided through a series of different Chakra™. I discover my mood-lifting aroma which is Wisdom. I was told that my aroma would be different every day on every different occasion. Interesting!
Every one took turn to experience the ritual and without any doubt they are are enjoying their ritual.
Right before I went in to the launch area all the ritual stations are full. It has been a pretty interesting experience that day. How I wish we get this ritual on every other launch eh? 🙂
Even Mr. Paul Slavin; Managing Director, Estée Lauder Companies tried it 🙂
Aveda™ (Sanskrit for Knowledge of Whole‟) was founded in 1978 with three driving commitments:
· Wellness of beauty industry professionals and their guests.
· Wellness of the earth and its communities.
· The overarching belief in the power of plants.
The launch was held inside the restaurant. I like the simple setup as it felt more comfortable and not stressful. And also all the massages and “aromatherapy” before entering the restaurant helps hehe.
Tze May; Managing Director of Luxasia (M) Sdn Bhd gave a short speech. Did I mention that she’s really bubbly and friendly too? She helped to take pictures of me at the ritual station with my camera LOL.
We also had the rare opportunity to meet CEO of Luxasia; Mr. Patrick Chong who flew in all the way from Singapore.
The launch was also joined by Eugene Goh; Aveda General Manager at Luxe Professional Singapore. He is also the man who helped to launch Aveda in Singapore. Eugene shared with us the mission of Aveda™ and we all recite the mission after him.
The mic was passed to Linda Lee; General Manager of Luxe Professional (M) Sdn Bhd as she explains more about the mission, heritage and acting responsibly of Aveda.
Aveda™ is wholly dedicated to conducting business in an environmental, sustainable and responsible manner as the preservation of biodiversity. We care about everything we do. We emphasize the need to limit climate change and habitat destruction, reduce toxins in the environment, limit waste generation and reduce or eliminate air and water pollution. Empowered by the unique mission, Aveda™ believes that authentic beauty is one that works in harmony with the greater web of life. It does not qualify as beauty if it hurts the diverse life forms that nature created. Authentic beauty cares for the environment, which we inherited from elders and will leave for the generation to follow us.
Towards the end of the launch, we were brought to a live chat with Dr Cindy Angerhofer, Executive Director of Botanical Research via Skype.
With more than 25 years of experience, Dr Cindy Angerhofer has used her expertise in pharmacognosy and plant-based science to help develop innovative botanical cosmetics and dietary supplements. Dr Cindy Angerhofer has helped establish leading research programs that explore the science of medicinal herbs and the quality of botanical extracts. As Director of Botanical Research for Aveda, Dr Cindy Angerhofer and her team are responsible for exploring the chemistry and biology of botanical ingredients in an effort to create high performance natural cosmetic products that honor the inherent power of plants.

Me too :). So far so good but I guess I’ll only know after a long trial run.
I’m interested with the Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate for a quick stress-relieve. Hope it’s not too expensive. I’m gonna pop in their store at Pavilion.
