I was delighted to be invited by Watsons Malaysia once again for their recent launch event held on Tuesday 20th November 2012 at Seventh Heaven, Pavilion KL.

Watsons Malaysia has geared up for one of its biggest year-end festive celebrations. The theme “Christmas Candyland: The Sweetest Sale in Town!” is the first-of-its-kind. This time Watsons is determined and aims to be a crowd-puller and crowd-pleaser. With this unique and sweet idea I have good faith it will definitely be an attraction.

Six of Watsons celebrity friends which include Amber Chia, Andrea Fonseka, Deborah Henry, Kimberley Legget, Thanuja Anathan and Soo Wincci was invited to collaborate on this exciting project. All 5 celebrities of The sweetest ambassadors of Malaysia graced the launch event except for Soo Wincci who was not around at that time and together with guests of honour – Mr. Calvin Kan King Seong (Group General Manager, Business (Print & New Media), The Star), Ms. Joyce Yap (CEO Retail, Pavilion) and Carven Ong (Couture Designer).

Spoken at his speech, Mr. Kulvinder Birring, Managing Director of Watsons Malaysia said “We’d like to go beyond providing a magnificent variety of local and international products. We want to create a great big story the minute a customer passes-by a Watsons’ store, especially at this time of year – the sugar-coated décor, twinkling bulbs and candy girls running amok with baskets load of colorfully wrapped candies. It’s about creating a delightful and differentiated Christmas moment for our customers”. 

After the introduction of Christmas Candyland we were enlighten with a fashion show by Couture Designer, Carven Ong who’s not the first time collaborating with Watsons Malaysia.

We adjourned to the lobby hall for an unveiling of the Sweet Moments 2013 calendar that was photographed by Celebrity Phoographer, Zung. This calendar depicts the most delicate memories personal to each star, not to mention, the incredible lens captures of Zung (celebrity photographer) of each personality in their vibrant poses.

Each celebrity autographed on their poster and I didn’t miss the chance to stand in front with media photographer to take each and every single picture of them!

Kimberley Legget.

Lastly a group photo with each of them holding their own calendar page while Soo Wincci was represented by Carven Ong.

A behind-the-scenes photography video chronicling each beauty queen’s experiences and more honeyed detail into their sweetest moments will be uploaded onto Watsons Facebook page, to give Watsons’ supporters a glimpse into the making of the Sweet Moments Calendar 2013.

The official launch was a success with the amount of media turnout although it was as early as 9.30am. Everyone braved through the early traffic jam to support the event including me who woke up an our hour early =)

We were served refreshment from Zang Toi Cafe. Absolutely love Zang Toi’s food. Here’s some food pictures for you to salivate.

The Banana Chocolate cake is to die for. It’s their signature cake.

By 11am all of us walked to Watsons store at Level 1 to witness the Christmas Candyland store launch. Love the decoration on the entrance!

Guests were treated with lollipop which was handed out by two lovely girl around the store.

Apart from that, a star product is featured behind each month’s calendar and every RM0.10 from the purchase of that specific product will be donated to a collection of charities, including: SPCA (advocated by Thanuja Ananthan), PT Foundation (advocated by Kimberley Legget), START Organization (advocated by Soo Wincci), PersatuanPenjagaanKanak-Kanak Cacat Klang Selangor (PPKKCKS) – advocated by Amber Chia, Fugee School (advocated by Deborah Henry) and Operation Smile Asia Pacific (advocated by Andrea Fonseka).

Besides that, there will also be a storewide festive discount of 30% across selected products and Purchase-with-Purchase offers of up to 50% off. To add more sugar to the entire campaign, a classic candy cart stacked with mountains of treats will be parked alongside other fun and fabulous candy-Christmas-themed props, and will be placed at key Watsons stores. Shoppers are welcomed to be a part of this merrymaking affair by taking memorable and fun photographs as they shop at Watsons. Many more jubilant in-store games like Guessing the Candy and special giveaways will lend to the sweet cheer of the Yuletide season at Watsons.

Adding more “WOW!” to the sweet moments, six lucky shoppers are in for a huge extravagance this Christmas when they shop at Watsons –the chance to bag home one of six designer couture dresses (retailed at approximately RM700 each), thanks to celeb designer, Carven Ong, which were used to don the celebrity figures for their photography stint.
