Ellips Hair Care - Hair Vitamin / Oil Review: Hair Care

Review: Ellips Hair Vitamin Hair Treatment and Smooth & Shiny

Growing up I’ve always been told that I have beautiful, straight, shiny hair. I kept my hair straight and long since young as it’s easier to manage. One question I’ve been asked frequently is what do I use on my hair. My answer had always been the same ” nothing, just shampoo”. Yeap shampoo. I don’t even use conditioner on my hair as I’m too lazy.

As I grew up I started implementing hair conditioner. Hey it’s never too late to start ;). Then hair masque, hair oil and hair moisturizer. I’m always proud and feel blessed with good hair but all that happy thoughts were crushed when I went to perm my hair during my younger days. No no, it’s not the perm that destroy my hair. It’s the hair stylist.

Can you imagine my hair stylist told me I have the most unhealthy hair. I was like “Huh? If this hair *grabbing my hair as I speak* is unhealthy what is healthy hair?”. I’ve seen girls with the most frizzy, dry and a head full with split ends and I don’t even have all those. You know what she answered me? She said cause my hair have static. Duh! First of all hair static is very common. Now let’s understand a bit what is hair static before we moved on to the review shall we.

What is static electricity?
Hair is made up of atoms, which in turn are made up of electrons, protons and neutrons. If the atom has the same amount of protons and electrons, it is neutral. When electrons move from one atom to another, though, the atom can become positively charged, causing static.

What causes hair static?
Is you just washed and dried your hair using a hair dryer, your hair may have static when you brush it. Dry hair usually attracts positive electric charges causing your strands to literally repel each other and “fly away.”

How to deal with hair static?
Don’t brush or comb your hair more than necessary. Go for wooden comb rather than plastic. Implement hair products such as leave-in conditioners. This will fight static cling and help your hair lay down thus eliminating hair static. Moisturizing hair often such as conditioning will eliminate both dryness and static.

So. My hair is NOT unhealthy after all.
Anyway I picked up a box of Ellips Hair Vitamin Hair Treatment for fun after seeing the TVC. I like it so much that I went back to pick up another 2 boxes. This time I pick up Ellips Hair Vitamin Hair Treatment and Smooth & Shiny.

If you have doubt on this hair vitamin you can opted for the single blisters to try first. Ellips Hair Vitamin 2 Blisters @ 6 Capsules is retailing for RM8.16.

What’s the different between both hair vitamin? Hair Treatment vitamins are the combination of Jojoba Oil, UV Protection, Pro Vitamin B5 and Vitamin A, C, E which helps to treat damaged hair structure and reduce split end caused by hair blow-drying, curling, coloring, perming and rebonding. As a result hair looks healthier, manageable and shiny. Smooth & Shiny vitamins on the other hand are the combination of Aloe Vera Oil, UV Protection, Pro Vitamin B5 and Vitamin A, E which is to moisturize, to provide nutrition and to make your hair smooth, manageable and shiny.

Ellips called this pack “blister”. So this one blister contains 6 capsules. I’m using one capsule for half of my head so each usage I’d need two capsules. It depends on how long or thick your hair is so use accordingly ya. I apply this hair vitamin twice a week and sometimes once a week if I forgotten.

Both vitamin smells the same. Considering it’s “vitamin”, I thought it’ll smell horrible but in fact it smells really good.

I don’t really know if feeding vitamin to hair works or it doesn’t. One thing I can tell ‘ya is my hair love this. Each time I apply this I get a smoother and lighter hair the next day. Oh oh and hair static is gone! If we can take vitamin for our body why not feed vitamin to our hair too. After all no harm doing and thank goodness it’s not that expensive too.

Ellips Hair Vitamin is available at local drugstore and supermarkets. I bought mine at Watsons.
Price: RM8.16 for a box of 2 blisters @ 6 capsules each

  • She just wants you to do the hair treatment. I’ve seen unhealthy hair (read as WIRES like) before, and some women even paraded it as if it’s HEALTHY hair. Lol. I’ve tried this Ellips hair vitamin but my hair doesn’t like it. What is hair moisturizer?

    • Yea I know but you know how hair stylist will not be satisfied if you insist of not doing it. It’s really obnoxious that she claimed that by one treatment my hair will be back to “healthy” state LOL. She must really think I’m stupid.

I never heard of hair moisturizer until I had one from Vanity Trove. It’s not available in Malaysia. Here’s the look https://street-love.net/2012/05/vanity-trove-april-2012-subscription.html. I’m finishing this bottle soon.

  • Ah, the things people would do for money. I think hair moisturizer is another term for leave in hair conditioner?

    • Looks and feels like hair conditioner. It’s very thick

  • I think hair is like skin. It changes over time, therefore, sometimes the product that used to work on the hair doesn’t work anymore later. Some hair mask is too thick (it weighs down my hair and it looks waxy too, eek).

    • True. Mine doesn’t change that much. Hair vitamin is always beneficial 🙂

      • I’ll try the single blister. I have fussy hair. Lol.

          • For the capsule I remember using it on the hair length. No idea about the mask.

  • i really need this as my hair really damaged after the colouring >.<

    • No harm feeding vitamins to your hair. Try a single blister first.

  • Oh, I used this too. It really makes my hair smoother, although the effect only lasted for 2 days. It is cheap and affordable, but I think the packaging is not environment-friendly. I am switching to Mythic Oil now as my daily “treatment”. 🙂

    • Mythic oil is hair oil right? What’s the different compare with Ellips Hair Vitamin? I wanted to buy but my hair stylist said she never heard before although I saw her using on clients and she’s selling at the counter lol

      • Hair serum. It is more intensive than hair conditioner and leave in hair conditioner. It works as a finishing product as well.

          • Can we have a like button here? Yes, I would love to see your wishlist 🙂

          • I’m afraid of my own wish list LOL

          • Haha. Mythic Oil, I think they have different types within the same range itself. Today I forgot to buy Ellips hair vitamin. Too happy today lol

          • Haha why so happy? Share!

          • I went on a shopping spree – bought clothes, and body care products. Then, my friend made my day. Had a great time chatting with him.

          • Ahhh I see

      • opss. late reply. XP yup, its nourishing hair oil with avocado oil and grape seed oil. less thicker than ellips hair vitamin. it is easier to use and I think it works well yet lightweight enough to tame down my frizzy hair. i bought it cheaper at rm63 from hairdressing.com.my. 😉

  • Tried this before as I was at Watson’s and they had a sampling giveaway. It smells good but quite heavy for my hair. I guess if I applied more on the roots it will be ok. I have a lot of baby hair and wire like hair sprouting from the top of my head lol. Sometimes when I am stressed or cannot figure out a problem at work, I tend to pull out my hair. Bad habit!

    Reply
    • If you apply on damp hair should not be too heavy. Or maybe you can try 1 capsule for the whole head 😉

You pull out your hair and I bite my nails when I’m stress LOL

      Reply
  • Jennifer, from what I know (or rather what my hairstylist told me), don’t apply on the roots. If you do, apply it sparingly. Sparingly as in touch and go type of application. I use 1 pump on damp hair and I start to blow dry it. I apply 1/2 pump on the ends, and sparingly on the root for finishing touch, and continue to blow for awhile. Some hair serum or hair oil could cause breakout (I don’t have the right term) on the scalp. Happened to me before.

Erin, hair care is like skin care. You will learn more through experience, and talking to the hairstylist, besides reading some articles. Also, your hair texture etc changes over time. Know the condition, and find the right hair care products for it. Don’t worry about hit and miss, it happens. Must be hardworking too 🙂

  • Babe, it turns out that this hair vitamin = hair serum aka hair oil. I reckon hair vitamin is also another term for hair serum/hair oil/hair moisturizer. They make our hair shine, glossy, to tame frizz and flyaways, hair color lasts longer. I bought the single blister pack. I’ll test it later today.

  • Many good hair products out there. Just have to find the right one. On the other hand, I don’t usually go for locally made hair products. Can’t recall any names because it was a one off thing. I didn’t finish the shampoo, conditioner and hair serum. My hair really disliked it – coarse. I haven’t the chance to do any proper shopping last week. Some family matter came up, not the good one. Now checking emails and whatever that I missed out last week.
