Last week I visited the first Aveda Discovery Center at Level 3 Pavilion KLCC for my very first styling discovery experience. There’s no way you can miss the center. When you walk pass you will be attracted to all the colorful bottles prettily lined up. Then your nose will pick up a lingering herbal scent. That’s Aveda.

When I reached I was served with Aveda™ Comforting Tea. This ritual is a must and are offered to everyone that step into the center as well as passerby too. This comforting tea is a soothing herbal infusion of licorice root and peppermint to calms senses and promoting a sense of well-being. It is 100% organic blend with no preservative, sugar and added flavors. I think I had 4 to 5 mini cups heh!

As my scalp wasn’t in the condition to do voluminous, textured and full-blown style…Adrian need to do a simple hair consultation and check before proceeding to the next step.

The moment of truth lies with this hair check. Things are not looking good for me. I have sensitive scalp as expected and my hair is lack of protein. It’s also good to know the truth because I can now get specific product for my hair problem.

After the hair consultation and check Adrian show me this chart to explain to me in detail which Aveda product is suitable for my sensitive scalp. Basically I would need a mild shampoo and I was suggested Shampure range. Conditioner on the other hand is not necessary from Shampure range. I can use Smooth Infusion conditioner as I have long and straight hair. Interesting mix and match combination.

Adrian said that I have sensitive scalp at the moment so he couldn’t style my hair with product that needed to be applied directly on my scalp. So we decided to curl it instead of doing voluminous and full-blown hair style.

The product range used on my hair is from Be Curly range. First Adrian prep my hair with Style-Prep (1st from left). Style-Pre adds moisture and curl definition as it seals the cuticle, taming frizz all day. It also makes styling curls easier and helps the curl stays longer.

If you had permed your hair, Curl Enhancer (middle) is to be applied on towel-dried hair. This product will enhance hold and coax curls into shape. Use a bit more product to finish the style once hair is completely dry.

Curl Enhancing Hair Spray (1st from right) is a mild hair spray. It hold curls in place without the usual hardening by normal spray. The one thing I like about this hair spray is that it’s water based.

And here’s my new look! Do you like it? Gosh I miss my wavy hair. It’s good to be back to wavy hair for one night 🙂

The curl is subtle and gave me a softer look. I’m surprised that my hair responded well with curling iron. Normally the curl won’t stay. This time the curl stayed for the whole night until the next morning. If I ever go back to perming my hair I’d be sure to get Be Curly range to maintain the locks.

Now let me walk you through the product range by Aveda.

There is a wide selection and variety of Pure-Fume. It is also my favorite range as I like aroma-related products. I even bought a Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate that I had been wanting to get for quite some time.

Aveda also carry a wide range of skin care.

The main product range by Aveda is of course hair care.

Aveda also carry hair care made specifically for men. The herbal scent is stronger than normal range.

If you are not a fan of water base hair spray, aerosol type hair spray is also available. There is also scented candle and comforting tea or tea bags for sale too.

By the way, just a note. Frequent user of Aveda shampoo or conditioner can consider to get the jumbo size for a cheaper price. This Smooth Infusion Shampoo for example cost RM108 for 250ml while the jumbo size cost only RM318 for 1 litre! Huge saving right?

What I love about Aveda is that you can just walk in to the discovery center for a Stress-Fix Exfoliating Hand Masssage that are absolutely free. They also offer neck and shoulder massage too. And don’t forget the relaxing Comforting Tea 🙂

Don’t worry about popping in the center to browse around or to get hair consultation for your hair problem. There is no hard selling at the store so you can rest assured that no one will force anyone to buy anything. Just purely consultation. But I believe you’d walk away with something :).
