Generally a lipstick that comes with a core of lip balm in the middle are more sheerer. It provides a decent moisture and color for the lips. That’s what I was hoping for from the latest Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm.
I think throughout my whole life I have only bought and used one tinted lip balm before. It was during high school time. It is no doubt tinted lip balm has quickly become popular as not many people are into lipstick or lip gloss. Lip balm as we all know is colorless. It can be used under lipstick/lip gloss or over it. Tinted lip balm however is the most convenient product to use of all time. Not only it keeps your lips moisturise but it also ccontains subtle pigments that enhances the lips’ natural color. You ended up looking more livelier, even without makeup on 😀
Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm is imported directly from Japan. This new product comes with SPF20 PA+++ and formulated with super hydrating ingredients such as 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid namely Hyaluronic Acid, Nano Hyaluronic Acid & Super Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera extracts, Collagen and Honey. These ingredients work hand in hand to replenish and retain moisture as well as to increase the elasticity of your lips.
These vibrant looking Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm is definitely pretty and it looked so different from the rest of tinted lip balm available in the market nowadays. The tube is semi-clear so you can actually see how much tinted lip balm left on the inside. Cool eh?
I was sent three different shades of Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm. There was no shade name printed except for a code on the bottom of the tube. I differentiate each shade by looking at the tube color on the outside. The one with a pink gradient is Milky Pink, the one that is a bit orangey is Rose Pink and the one with darker red is of course Raspberry Red. You can also differentiate from the cap on top too.
The colors of these tinted lip balm is very close and very similar. The only one standout is Raspberry Red. These colors are something that I would wear and buy. I usually gravitate more towards pink so this has quickly become my favourite.
Usually a moisturizing lip balm could be soft and easily melted under hot weather like this. However I find it to be a bit different with these Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm. They looked normal, dry on the bullet, which I have no problem at all because these lip balm will not be a mess to apply.
Then I had a problem. I wasn’t able to get a swatch with the shade difference because it all looked the same on the back of my hand. Contrary to the lip photo on the packaging, it just looks like a colorless lip balm on my hand. The best I can show you the color swatch is on a piece of tissue paper. That is also visible after a few hard swatch.
Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm leaves a layer of moisturizing balm on the lips which Mentholatum referred as “water film”. This water film is able to provide long hours of hydration and treat drynesss, chapped and cracked lips at the same time. What I like about this tinted lip balm is the finishing. I don’t look like I have just chow down a fried chicken but instead it provides me with just the right amount of gloss on the surface. It’s quite comfortable on the lips, I don’t feel like I’m having any lip product on and it certainly didn’t leave me with a white line on the inner lips.
I find the long-lasting moisture claim to be true to it’s promise. I have heard about tinted lip balm drying the lips out but not this Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm. The lip balm doesn’t dries off at all even after so many hours and numerous cup sipping. I even nap in the afternoon and I woke up two hours later with soft lips, while still having the lip balm on. It’s pretty impressive. I certainly didn’t expect this.
However, I wasn’t impress with the tinted shade at all. Since I failed in getting a swatch on the back of my hand, on my lips it looked the same from far. So I decided not to post those photos. A close-up shot of my lips shows a teeny weeny bit of the color payoff. I do have darker lip tone therefore Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm shade doesn’t show up well on my lips. If you have fairer or lighter lip tone, you will see a better tinted shade than mine. My personal favourite has got to be Raspberry Red as that’s the color that shows up better on my dark lip tone. Rose Pink is also not bad. It looks like coral not pink. On my lips the color payoff is also better. Probably due to the coral tint. Milky Pink is just like a colorless lip balm on me.
Here’s the description and ingredient list of Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm.
I wouldn’t say this Mentholatum Limited Edition Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm would be a replacement for a lipstick or lip gloss but it is definitely a good alternative on no makeup day or when you just want a soft and moisturize lips instead of heavy color. It gave the lips a subtle hint of color on the lips so you will look much more fresh and livelier even without makeup. I also find it to be suitable under a lipstick or lip gloss. I am a fan of it’s moisturizing factor that doesn’t dries up on the lips even after a few hours. It is also scentless, which is what I like about lip balm.
Please ignore my wonky eyebrow in below photo. I did it in a hurry and it wasn’t the best eyebrow pencil.

Thank you for the honest review on the tinted claim. I saw other blogger have more colour payoff comparing to yours. You are right. Lip tone do make a different^^ My favourite is Rose Pink. The colour is more visible^^
Oh the tint is not bad. I’m not very bothered by it. As long as it’s moisturizing, not oily and doesn’t dries up my lips then I’m happy 😀
Yes, other blogger have better color payoff. Their lips are lighter tone I guess 😉 . Rose Pink eh? Not bad. I’m wearing it today.
These balms are too lightly couloured for me to wear alone. I have almost zero lip colour and would look dead with only balm. I need lots of pigment. It’s good that they aren’t scented. I hate scented lip products. It’s like I can taste it and that annoys me. That said, I do like the Mentholatum minty balm but it seems hard to find here.
As always, great swatches and photos from you.
Thanks Jude! 😀
I would prefer these over colorless lip balm on a no makeup day. At least a hint of color on the lips so I don’t look that awful lol. My other Mentholatum favourite is the Orange scented one called Lip Pure Lip Balm. But it’s much more oilier / heavy and the balm melted off in the tube. The hardness of Water Lip Tinted Lipbalm is so much better.
I love tinted lip balms! Too lazy to apply lipstick and lip gloss often feels tacky. 😀
The colour of these seem a little too light for me, as in I don’t see much colour pay off.
I really like the tinted lip balms by Labello. I don’t think the brand is available here but I do believe part of the line is being carried under Nivea brand since they share the same head company. The colour is really strong in those. 🙂
That’s what tinted lip balm is for hehe. It really doesn’t have much color payoff. I think their sister brand Lip Ice has better payoff?
For me tinted lip balm is suppose to give a hint of color only. The tint is not suppose to replace lipstick strong color. The closest to lipstick I would say is Clinique Chubby Stick. It’s like a balmy lipstick 😀
I’ve only tried Milky Pink and honestly…. I expected at least a little bit more colour, lol! Maybe Raspberry Red will be more to my liking, but I haven’t opened that yet. It feels comfortable on the lips though, so for me it works more like a lip balm.
Me too! I saw the lip photo on the packaging and I thought it’s suppose to look like that. But on me it doesn’t make any difference. Yeap! Raspberry Red will have more color payoff. It is lip balm anyway 😛 . If they put more color pigments in means it will turn out to be like lipstick. No point also. Lip balm is suppose to feel like lip balm 🙂
I can’t really see a difference between the 3 shades.haha..
I want to ask your opinion,I have dry sensitive skin,of all the products you’ve tried, what products do you think is best for my skin? I am looking for something that is safe and if organic its better.Something that moisturizes well and brightens my skin.
Yes, as mentioned in my review the shade on my darker lip tone doesn’t give a good color payoff.
For organic skin care you can try Antipodes or if you are on a budget, Himalaya. Just to share with you. Clarins have launched a brightening range that hydrates and brighten skin. Exactly what you are looking for. It is also suitable for sensitive skin. You can read my review at https://street-love.net/2014/02/clarins-new-white-plus-total-luminescent-day-night-duo/
Which will you recommended if I want more for lips moisturizing effect? Lip pure orange or this range? But I don’t like if there is scent on it. It will be better if there is no scent or sweet taste. 🙂
Lip Pure Orange is more moisturizing but it has orange scent to it. Scentless would be this one. Its moisturizing without the oily lips.
ok. I think I will get Milky Pink. hehe.
Good idea. Milky Pink has a very subtle pink tint.
