Body - Detox Review: Bath / Body SkinnyMint

SkinnyMint 14 Day Starter Teatox: It doesn’t work a bit on me at all

For the past one month or so, there was an advert on my Facebook timeline that keep on appearing out of no where. I click on it and I was directed to SkinnyMint Facebook page. I don’t know how or why but SkinnyMint is kinda taking the female world by flash. Who doesn’t want to lose weight by just drinking tea right? So I decided to get the 14 Day Starter Teatox Pack to try. Initially I wanted to go ahead with 28 Day Ultimate Teatox and my friend Cynthia told me to get the 14 Day Teatox instead just in case I don’t like.

Yesterday was my 10th day of the 14 Day Teatox program so I thought I could quickly tell you what I think about spending RM98.35 on the tea before I ran out of tea bags for photo lol.

SkinnyMint 14 Day Teatox
SkinnyMint is a new Teatox program that helps you to detoxify and lose weight at the same time. But it’s not as easy as brewing a cup of SkinnyMint tea and you’ll lose weight magically. It is recommended to implement some exercise routine together with the program and then change the type of food intake so that Teatox will work even more better.

Morning Boost

Prior before ordering, I’ve been doing a lot of reading on SkinnyMint. Almost all sponsored blogger said it works on them and some just review it on the base without any proper review or before and after comparison. One thing for sure is that all of them commented saying the taste for Morning Boost is actually yummylicious. The Morning Boost tea taste fruity to me. It does taste just like normal tea, except that it is more fragrant. I usually infused the tea bag up to four times because it is one hell of a costly tea to begin with so I’m sure no one would infuse it once and throw it away. You can infuse the tea bag until the color and taste turns bland. I don’t go for more than four cups because the tea makes me pee the whole morning, almost once every 10 minutes. It’s insane! I also learnt that the tea contain 70% of caffeine. I sacrificed my morning coffee intake with Morning Boost as it has to be taken before or during breakfast. Maybe because of the four cups of tea that I take every morning, I didn’t feel sleepy but instead super energized. I was up and running the whole day without stopping. What I don’t like is that the tea makes me half asleep and half awake at night. I couldn’t get into deep sleep like before.

SkinnyMint 14 Day Teatox Tea Bags
What I found out about the Morning Boost tea from their website is that it suppress the appetite naturally and this resulted in reducing hunger pangs. I would say it’s true to a certain point. It really depends on whether I took heavy breakfast or not in the morning. By heavy I don’t mean nasi lemak or any of those food. I meant larger quantity of food. To begin with, I wasn’t a big eater at all. I’m not a fan of food and I’m not a foodie. My breakfast, lunch and dinner is at a moderate amount. I would spend my money on better breakfast but for lunch I eat less unless I didn’t have any breakfast then you will see me eating more than usual for lunch. As for dinner, I sometimes skip it. When I don’t, I take just half a cup of rice. Ever since I started the program, I changed my lunch to a full salad meal. I notice how some people can eat a whole big salad bowl for lunch but I take probably 1/4 of the amount. Dinner is where I let loose a little bit. I took just a few spoonful of rice with some dish to go with it. In conclusion, I eat even less than before. Probably more than half less. I also did a bit of exercise as well.

Night Cleanse

Night Cleanse is the part of the program that prevent me from getting SkinnyMint earlier. I just don’t like the diarrhoea effect from detox. I also read that it taste quite bad. It has a laxative scent to the tea because it contain lemongrass, ginger and lemon. I also taste mint in the tea. I don’t quite like the taste as well so I add in some honey to improvise the taste. Night Cleanse tea is to be taken on alternate days, right before bed time. The laxative will only work 6-8 hours after that. I’ve read that some people go to the toilet up to six times a day for the first few days. On me, it doesn’t work anything like that. Not even near. I had minor tummy ache the next morning and it was just a normal toilet visit for me. No major detoxifying or diarrhoea for me. What I don’t like about this Night Cleanse is how it gave me stomachache and cramps every day the whole day. And the best part is, I didn’t have any bowel urge ever since I’m on salad and ever since I eat less. Nothing to cleanse perhaps?

SkinnyMint 14 Day Teatox Infused Tea
The question is why does some users lose weight but I don’t? Before SkinnyMint 14 Day Teatox, I had a very normal and smooth bowel movement every day. I don’t suffer from constipation like all other SkinnyMint user. They said it cleared their constipation issue but it was the other way round for me. My bowel movement stopped after the second Night Cleanse. It stress the heck of me. When I reached Day 7, my tummy was less bloated but since my bowel movement stopped, my tummy is bloated and bigger than before I started the program. Now that I’m left with 4 days worth of tea, I’m not expecting anything anymore from the tea. I just want to finish the program the soonest possible and that’s it.

Is it worth to try?

I say it depends on your body. For me it’s a total waste of money as it doesn’t work for me a bit. Some people that may suffer from bad bloating issue or constipation may experience a better result. I was very surprised to read from SkinnyMint Facebook and Instagram that most user have constipation issue. These are the people that may see result. I mean it’s pretty normal to see a “flatter stomach” when you managed to detox all the gunk out the intestines after so long right? I can’t say it’s not worth to try. Just because it doesn’t work on me doesn’t mean it will not work on you as well. I say if you have the budget to spend on, go ahead. This has been one of my most regretted purchase ever.

Has anyone tried SkinnyMint before? How does it fares on you? Would you spend near to RM100 for this if you haven’t?

  • I wanted to purchase it too at first since in instagram, they showed really promising results but the price is pulling me back. There’s also another brand called “your tea” which work the same if I’m not mistaken. After reading your review, I think I’ll pass. I’m so glad I waited for your review, if not I’ll waste money.

    • Yes. Your Tea, Skinny Me Tea all the same with SkinnyMint. I heard Your Tea is better. Not sure about that though. There’s a girl on their Instagram that said the same as me. I guess I’m quite normal 😀

  • Whenever the products / sales person/ beauticians telling me to ‘change my eating habits’ / ‘stop using make-up’ so that I can see the difference after using the products, my ‘silent siren’ starts sounding.
Heck… If only I were sarcastic enough, I’d certainly tell them (and not stand/ sit there nodding my head as if agreeing with them), ” If i were to change my habits, for sure I would be able to see the difference with or without yourr products (and what for spend a fortune on your products when I can use a similar product from another brand, but at a cheaper price), right?”
    Hehe…
    just my two cents.

    • Actually anyone can already lose weight with exercising and changing food intake. Can you imagine I was eating farrrrr lesser than I was? And before that also I don’t eat that much.

      • Agree! Once we tweaked our food intake and lifestyle (or adopt an exercise regime), we won’t need those ‘all-hyped-about-nothing’ products.
BTW, of course those “sponsored bloggers” would sing praise to the products cause 1. it’s free, 2. they want more freebies & 3. wanna be in the good books of the company
U and I know ONE particular blogger who apple polishes any brand who gives her free products/services! *wink!

    • Same thing happened to me! Towards the middle of the course my tummy bloated and my bowel movement completely went haywire. It sort of help to stop my bowel. I hated the fact that this tea gives me stomach aches and cramps all day long. I think I must be the only one that said it doesn’t work and I’m glad you too share the same thought as me.

Then i decide to do even more reading and found your blog.. after reading the comments as well i don’t think ill be ordering this tea anytime soon i guess ill stick to my green tea for the time being…

    • Their ambassadors are…errrmmm hehe 😀 . Based from what I’ve gather from SkinnyMint ambassadors and other buyer testimonials, this tea is more meant for those with bloating and constipation issue. You can still try it out. If you want to lose weight, this doesn’t work. At least not for me 🙁

  • I should’ve found your post earlier. I purchased the 28day pack in Dec, but started only in Jan. I did take about a week break in between cause I had to travel. I finished about 3 days back. Honestly, I am disappointed with the result. I do have constipation issues and it was not fixed at all. everything is still pretty much the same . I don’t think I’ve shrunk at all. Only spent that much cause of the reviews but I guess too late to regret it? hahah I just hope more people see this so they won’t make the same mistake as I did.

    • Awww Tulippe. So sorry to hear that it doesn’t work for you too. I think break in between will effect the efficacy somehow or rather. I fall for the reviews too not knowing which is paid by them and which are genuine buyer 🙁

  • Glad to read your review before I purchase it. Yup rm100 is too expensive for detox. 21st century herbal tea never fails me. It’s much cheaper. Eat healthier u will see the result. For instance switch from white to brown rice.

    • Totally agree! Reducing daily calorie intake will reduce weight naturally as well. It works way better than SkinnyMint honestly.

  • I started looking for information after getting totally confused about the effects I am having. I’ve always suffered with bloating and constipation, and thought this tea would help. I bought the 28 day detox and I’m almost two weeks in. My skin looks great, and mentally I feel alert. BUT my tummy is doing some very bizarre things. I’ve been to the toilet like once every four days which is stressing me out. My tummy ranges from being flat (not linked to going to the toilet) to being massively bloated. I look heavily pregnant. its not at all predictable. I’ve even tried using max strength Senna laxatives to no effect. I eat healthily and run 4-5km three times a week. It’s very frustrating and I don’t know what to do!

    Reply
    • You’re having the same reverse effect as I do. I don’t have bowel movement issue all this while and the tea sort of delayed my bowel movement. It’s stressing me out big time having to “go” everyday to nothing.

      Perhaps stop consuming?

  • Was abit skeptical about SkinnyMint at first, but decided to try it after hearing good things about it from my relatives as well as my mum.

I was only about a week into this detox when I could tell that my tummy was visibly less bloated, and I could feel it as well. On days right after I took my Night Cleanse, they’re usually HELL for my tummy (lol). However, my appetite was more controlled, and even though I didn’t lose a lot of weight (I coupled it with some exercise as well), I think that SkinnyMint really helped a lot overall!

I guess the results vary for everyone, but one thing I gotta admit is that it’s kinda pricey 🙁

    • Very true. The result varies according to each individual. It may not work for me but may work wonders for you 🙂

  • Finally I get to see some TRUE reviews about SkinnyMint because I bought the 14 days Teatox and experienced the same problems. After taking SkinnyMint, my toilet visit decreases and didn’t solve my bloating issue. pretty disappointing! Anyway thanks for the awesome post!! =)

    • Exactly. Mine went from good to worse. Those that really see a difference are those that have constipation or bloating issues. This one doesn’t really help in losing weight.

  • So glad I came across this website! I ended up ordering but canceled right after, after reading your blog. Is there any other tea products you would recommend? How about just an everyday detox tea from a whole foods store?

  • I used the 14 day teatox and had to throw it out within 10 days! Whatever they put in the night cleanse gave me diarrhea for 4 days now. It’s been horrible. Will never use again!

    Reply
    • The night cleanse contain Senna Leaves and Psyllium Husk which gives laxative effect. It is quite mild. I guess you are somehow allergic to it so the effect on you is much more greater.

      Reply
  • I’m not sure. I’ve used senna in the past for constipation and didn’t have an issue. I’m thinking it’s a mixture of all the ingredients together. I’m thinking it irritated my bowels.

    Reply
    • Agree. It’s the concoction that you are allergic to. I actually had constipation after consuming. The effect on me is opposite from others.

  • So happy I found this review! I purchased the skinny tea teatox and have been using it for a week and I stopped using it because it gave me awful bloating. Like huge. Unfortunately, I’m still bloated, and it’s been almost a week. Did your bloating take awhile to stop?

  • Hey,
So I’m from the UK so the price for the SkinnyMint Teatox is considerably cheaper here. I was wondering if I should go for it? N0.1 being because you said it may work because it depends on your body or how your body reacts to these things and N0.2 being because of the price. Should I go for it or nahh?

    Reply
    • Hi Rabya, lucky you! Totally yes as you can get it cheaper. No harm trying to see if it suits you. And the price is definitely a pushing mark 😀

  • I stumbled upon this when purchasing my regular skinny mint morning boost. I have been a consumer of skinny mint tea for about a year now. I can’t say I have lost weight, but it does keep your appetite down and your stomach flat.

HOWEVER unlike what it sounds many have you had problems with, the tea doesn’t effect the amount I go to the toilet. I just remain regular, with or without the tea. The cleanse I have only done a couple of times a year as it is recommended to not rely on it. However I have continuously taken the morning boost. I exercise a lot and it gives me the energy I need for the day ahead and I do honestly think it does help with keeping your stomach flat (without needing to run to the bathroom- this was my worry too when I began taking it). I reckon it probably depends on the persons food habits. I eat a lot of fibre in my diet anyway, so nutrients like Senna doesn’t tend to have a massive impact on me and certainly doesn’t have a laxative effect when combined with the other nutrients in the night cleanse. But if a person doesn’t have a lot of fibre, my guess is their body isn’t used to it – hence the bathroom problem . Plus the night cleanse has other nutrients too that is very good for you, particularly for helping with sleeping – which alone can reduce weight loss and make you feel happier and healthier.

  • People should read more. Ginger, lemon grass and dandelion leaves do not stimulate bowel movements. It contains senna leaf which is a natural laxative. Steep it too like you’ll have the worst following day of your life.
Idk this is just a scam. Go to Amazon buy yogi detox tea, it just makes you pee a lot no cramps or poops, if you want that you can find any “cleansing” tea with senna leaf in it, and also get yogi blueberry slim life tea, it works as the morning booster. Seriously never spend 30 bucks on things that are available for 4.99 a box.

    • I agree with you. It doesn’t give massive bowel movement like diarrhea etc because of senna leave. To me it’s a scam. It was so high priced and it doesn’t work. Some claimed it works on them. Who knows. It’s a waste of money.

      Reply
  • Skinny Mint depends on your body i agreed. I took 28 days program and i reduced from 69 kg to 64.8 now. So it’s not really waste of money for me. But obviously you will need to do some exercise. It does work for most of them. U cant judge the product just because it doesnt work on one person. That is my opinion on this because i tried this tea and i am on the 2nd round now. Hoping to see more difference one this 28 days.
