Yesterday was the first day of Burberry‘s massive concourse event at Suria KLCC in conjunction with the new fragrance for women launch – My Burberry. This rare event will be held for seven days, from the 9th October to 15th October 2014. In fact I was told that this is not Burberry’s first event at all. The last one would be two years ago. I never got to know about the one held two years ago so this current Burberry event is my first 🙂

The launch of My Burberry is nothing but sophisticated and exceptionally elegant. I would have described it as ‘beautiful’ but when it comes to Burberry, it’s nothing of a girly girl that you would expect from other fragrance launch. This one is really Burberry. I was awed the moment I saw the event from afar. It’s massive, it’s grand, the product placement are all strategically placed and the decor is simple and yet screamed Burberry. You can easily spot them from miles away! This time round, elements of technology is also implemented to give customers the scent discovery experience. I wished I had taken more photos but I was in the way of the BAs promoting the new fragrance as the crowd was surprisingly quite huge for 11am when I was there and it gets more and more crowded towards the mid day as I was about to leave. You just got to head over to KLCC and check it out ya 😀

I begin my scent discovery with a walk-through on the new fragrance, My Burberry through one of the many iPads that were installed around the event. When it comes to fragrance, Burberry has always known by their best-seller – Burberry Body. It has always been a Burberry kinda fragrance but that has changed with the birth of My Burberry. My Burberry will be the brand’s true embodiment iconic fragrance, taking leads from the Burberry trench. When you think of Burberry fragrance you will think of My Burberry. Adrian, Luxasia’s Trainer said that Burberry trench coat owner affectionally referred their trench coat not as “my trench coat” but as “my Burberry”. It make sense because Burberry trench coat is a huge thing or a piece to own. Back in those days there weren’t any Burberry Beauty makeup or Burberry Body the fragrance. The brand has always been known for it’s trench coat. So to come out with a fragrance that will be THE brand’s fragrance, it only make sense to name the fragrance as My Burberry.

The scent of My Burberry was inspired by a London garden after the rain. I would say this type of scent concept is easily accepted for everyone as most people absolutely love the smell after rain especially if you live near the green. The scent is the ultimate expression of the brand’s past and future and it is created in collaboration between Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Bailey and renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. You must be trying to get your heads around the scent of after rain. To make it simple for you, My Burberry is a grand floral fragrance with an unexpected edge. The scent is confident and beautifully elegant, yet understated in a typically British way.

Top notes of sweet pea (a honey like floral note) and bergamot fuse with a heart of geranium (an unexpected rosy, green note), golden quince and freesia, rounded out with base notes of rain-tipped damask and centifolia roses and patchouli.

Just as I shared on my Instagram yesterday, I was fascinated with the overall concept inspiration behind the bottle design. It’s genius to have all the elements of Burberry trench coat on the fragrance bottle itself because this really truly embodied Burberry’s intention of having My Burberry as the brand’s iconic fragrance.

The Horn-Finish Cap

This cap is quite unique because I’ve never seen such design on a fragrance. You might think how odd it is to have a marble-like print on a cap on an elegant bottle right? Actually the inspiration came from Burberry trench coat buttons. Who would have thought!

The Hand-Tied Ribbon Knot

The material used for this ribbon is Gabardine, which was invented by Thomas Burberry in 1879. This is the exact same material used for the making of Burberry trench coat, a waterproof revolutionised rainwear.

The knot is also tied the same way as you would wear the belt of Burberry trench coat. Just a knot.

The Gold Interior Bottle Neck

The gold neck lining is also embossed with Burberry’s iconic check design.

The Inner Bottle Lining Design & Juice Color

This is where things get more interesting. Notice the slightly curvy inner bottle lining? The shape is inspired by the trench coat pocket shape.

The color of My Burberry juice reminiscent the signature honey shade, one of the three colours used in the brand’s Heritage Trench Coat collection and synonymous with the trench coats worn by Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne in the My Burberry campaign. The outer box trench-colored box is of course Burberry’s trench coat color.

Personalized Initial Monogram on 90ml Bottle

When you are at the event going through your scent discovery through one of the iPad available, you will begin with an introductory page and once you click ‘Begin’, you will then redirected to a page where you need to insert a three letter initial to monogram your Burberry bottle. However this special monogram service is only available for the purchase of 90ml ya.

After you’ve decided on your initial, you will get to preview how the bottle looks like with the initial on. I must say the preview is pretty accurate as to the actual bottle with monogram. If you’re still unsure you can request for assistance to see the sample available. The initial would be embossed on the front of the bottle because if you do it at the back, you will then see your name in reverse from the front. Now, you wouldn’t want that to happen lol.

The Makeup Look: Nude Glow

There is no new collection of makeup products to go with the fragrance. Nude Glow look will be more of a relaunching of the existing Burberry Beauty makeup products that are available over the counter. Nude Glow makeup look emphasis on healthy, glowing skin with softly warmed cheeks. The eye makeup do are further defined with trench shades that you can easily transferred and intensified for evening outing. The lips are maintained in nude, while the nails feature a timeless Nude Beige.

I had a makeover but you can only see my no makeup makeup face with soft cheek color and nude lipstick because the eye-do decided to play hide and seek with my Asian eyes lol. However you can still see that I had eye makeup on so it’s all good. Initially I thought this photo is badly taken with yellowish lighting. Somehow it turns out okay on my computer.

Base makeup

Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance No.01 together with Sheer Foundation.

Cheeks – Light Glow in Earthy Blush No.07 over the cheeks.

Eye makeup

Sheer Eye Shadow in Porcelain No.03 all over the lid, Complete Eye Palette in Pink Taupe No.07 on the eyelid and Sheer Eye Shadow in Trench No.02 on the brow bone for highlight.

Effortless Mascara in Midnight Black No.01 for eyelashes.

Lips

I opted for Lip Cover in Tulip Pink No.27, which is a nude lipstick with a hint of pink for my lips instead.
