Towards the end of last year, around the same time as Sephora Christmas collection markdown is when some of the permanent products from a few brands are being heavily discounted. Among the brands are Marc Jacobs, Too Faced, BareMinerals and Stila. I have been swatching BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick countless of times but I did not ended up buying them because frankly speaking, it was the testers that put me off. It was really gross and dirty that I didn’t swatch all shade at one go and that explains why I kept going back for swatching. Secondly is due to the melted lipstick tester. I have a philosophy on lipstick. If it was melted at the store, that means the lipstick is prone to melt in my room or my bag.

It was during a short trip to Sephora Gurney Paragon in Penang last weekend that had me finally purchasing BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie. Initially I wanted to get something from Marc Jacobs New Nude Sheer Lip Gel but I couldn’t decide on the shade so I wander around the store and stopped by BareMinerals. The testers are surprisingly quite new and I was happy. I decided on a fuchsia pink; Never Say Never. Unfortunately it was out of stock and they only left with two shades; Get Ready and Be Free. Be Free is not an everyday wearable shade because it is a bronzey chocolate while Get Ready is actually my kind of shade all day err day. I really didn’t want anymore ‘everyday shade’. It doesn’t seems like I have a choice so I got Get Ready. The BA even tried persuading me to take two Get Ready so that they can clear it all out fast lol. You know what, I really regretted for not listening to her and get two.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie reminds me very much of Marc Jacobs packaging. However the magnetic closure reminds me of Burberry lipstick. Burberry was my first lipstick that comes with magnetic closure 🙂 . I couldn’t get the hang of the opening for the longest time as I was confuse if I should push the silver knob up or down. I am not a fan of reflective surface. I can be a little paranoid with dust, scratches and finger prints on the tube. Reflective surface like this requires extra care unless you are someone who doesn’t bother about it. I like my things to be in tip top condition so it matters to me 😉

Get Ready is a warm rosy pink shade. The description is pretty much true to the shade seem from the bullet in real but sadly it doesn’t translate onto my camera or even on my photo. My camera seems to eat away the warmth of the shade. Sorry about that. I always describe the shade as a mauve shade (my fav!) because it really do seems like a mauve shade, in real I mean.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie is described as a creamy, full coverage, super-saturated, ultra-pigmented, rich satin finish color that glides on the lips like butter. The lipstick formula consists of an infusion of minerals to revitalize the lips for a healthy-looking pout and moisture-loaded hydrating complex with Abyssinian Oil and Omega Fatty Acids is added in to help nourish and condition, while encapsulated vitamin A, C and E complex present to deliver antioxidant defence to the lips. Whatever I just said just now…it’s all true claims. Heck! This is one of the most pigmented, creamy, full coverage lipstick I ever used! I used it right before checking out of the hotel, drove for 4 hours back to KL and the lipstick is still the same as when freshly applied.

There is a teeny weeny shea butter + mint scent on the lipstick. Smells like chocolate. I kinda like the scent as it is just a hint of scent and it disappear as soon as it hit the lips. I have one of the world’s most wrinkly lips and I’m happy to report that no overnight lip treatment is needed or lip balm is needed prior before application all thanks to the lipstick’s hydrating creamy formulation. The lipstick however is creamy therefore fragile so do take note not to apply with pressure as the bullet tend to hit the wall of the inner tube. To be on the safe side, I don’t bring this out with me to prevent any lipstick meltdown. Most of the time my lipstick are in the fridge 🙁

On me, Get Ready is a warm rosy pink, just like what BareMinerals described. The colour payoff is so intense that I still have it on the lips through food and drink. Usually I would just smack both lips together to even out the shade after drink and it’s fine 😀

What can I say? I have nothing but so much love for the lipstick. Still not happy with the fact that the lipstick bullet is so fragile and prone to melting due to the hot weather but for a RM37, which is somewhat slightly cheaper than drugstore lipstick, I would definitely invest in these. In fact I wanted to get one or two more and I did. I went to Sephora Mid Valley grand opening and they only have one and only Make Your Move. I picked up the last lipstick available immediately. I would probably need to search for Never Say Never at other Sephora store soon, if the two I had still in good non-melted condition lol.
