My friends find me weird when I told them I am not into BB Cream but I am a huge CC Cream fan. That is because I used to have very oily skin and BB Cream makes my skin even oilier, and CC Cream in general are more matte thus the love for CC Cream. Let’s just say I have better luck with CC Cream than BB Cream in the past.
When L’Occitane sent me the NEW L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Tone Perfecting Cream SPF 20 (aka CC Cream), I was jumping up and down like a kid high on sugar.
The NEW L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Tone Perfecting Cream SPF 20 comes in two shades – Light and Medium. The one I have is Light and it matches my skin tone perfectly.
What exactly is a CC Cream? CC stands for Color Correcting and it is meant to reduce the appearance of skin redness or sallowness or to improve uneven skin tone. I’ve tried a few different CC Cream from a few different brands and they are all quite matte on me, which I love. This Pivoine Sublime CC Cream on the other hand is more of a light hydrating cream with CC pigments and it transform from cream to base makeup during application. It is not something new in the market but I think high end brands doesn’t have anything similar to this. As all CC Cream are made to improve uneven skin tone issue, this CC Cream helps visibly and instantly improve skin quality, while giving the complexion and even, fresh and luminous look. It also comes with SPF 20, which is an added benefit but I would always suggest you to apply a separate sunblock underneath for sufficient protection. Afterall Malaysia weather can be crazily hot these days.
L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Tone Perfecting Cream comes in a dense, dark pink, slim squeeze tube, with a pointy nozzle tip. The product are densely packed in the tube, that doesn’t ooze out upon removing the cap off after vigorous tube shaking. That is really a plus point 😀
The product dispense out in a somewhat white with a slight pink tint and lots of micro-fine CC pigments. These CC pigments are responsible for the shade change during application. If you leave it like that, it will remain white but once you start rubbing the product around, it changes from white to beige and matches the skin tone. Just like magic 🙂
CC Cream changed my life in a way when it comes to light makeup. I know foundation and BB Cream or even DD Cream does the same but when I first tried on CC Cream a few years ago, it’s like I have found my perfect no makeup makeup. A little of CC Cream does wonders for uneven skin tone. I have redness here and there and this L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Tone Perfecting Cream takes care of all that. It’s like skin on my skin and doesn’t look like I had makeup on.
Another thing to note is the scent. It has a similar scent to Perfecting Mist, only a tad stronger. It doesn’t lingers on the skin for long (at least for me) so don’t worry about it.
And here is the complete look with the rest of the makeup on. One thing I like about CC Cream is that it doesn’t oxidize on my skin, unlike foundation and BB Cream. Instead, it kept my skin luminous and brighten throughout the whole day. I usually prep my skin prior by soaking my face with Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Mist 😀 . Some BB Cream could turn ashy on oily skin and because this CC Cream comes in white cream, I was expecting it to turn slightly ashy on me but nil. No ghastly grey or white cast on my face.

This is the first time I’ve seen a CC Cream by L’Occitane! I’ve recently started using CC Cream and found it way better than BB. Totally agree that it’s the perfect ‘no makeup’ makeup. Even if you don’t have as much redness like me, it really has a positive difference to evening out the skin tone and brightening your complexion! Glad you like it

I think it’s their first too 😀 . I’m so happy that you like CC Cream. Now you know why I loveeeee using CC Cream eh? I still have another BB Cream from L’Occitane to talk about next week. I thought I’ll hate it but I kinda like it due to the formula and coverage. So different from the Korean version 🙂 . I generally avoid Korean base makeup.
Is it a limited edition Fiona? I click on the link and it said limited quantity. I like how brighten your face is with the cc cream. Does it oxidize??
Not sure if it’s limited edition but yes, it’s limited quantity. I guess that means it’s LE? lol
Nope it does not oxidize on me. Hooray! Usually Western BB/CC does not oxidize on me 🙂
Oh…I want to try this. I’m not a fan of bb cream as well. It makes my face white-ish. But this looks promising for daily use.
Ahhh yes, the ghastly white cast. Western BB Cream doesn’t do that to me, only Korean. And Korean BB are itchy on my face lol.
This is suitable for daily use no doubt 😉
