Last year, Estée Lauder Malaysia launched an Asia exclusive Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick, where everywhere else was Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick. The shine version has more moisture and a healthy sheen to it and understandably, we had entered into the “matte” trend whereas the less sheen the better! Just a few months ago, Estée Lauder brought in Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick. With all the good reviews surrounding this version of lipstick, I was intrigued to find out myself if this is better than the shine version or they are as equally good.

I received the most compliments when I’m wearing a red lipstick. I’m more of a mauve shade girl as I always feel insecure with my thick lips. Surprisingly everyone I know like to see me with red lipstick so here I am. I don’t own a lot of red lipstick. The Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Envious is probably my 2nd red lipstick 😀 .

Estée Lauder maintained the sleek, elegant silhouette, signature navy and gold packaging. It has golden plaques at each end of the case and golden tones within the interior. I love lipstick that comes with magnetic closure. The Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick is slightly wider and shorter than Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick. Not a lot. Just a tiny bit.

Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick has a high-intensity color even in just a single swipe. Envious is a deep red shade, not too bright so it’s very flattering on all skin tone. At first I thought this lipstick is the matte version as it goes on my lips just like one. Despite not having the word “shine” up its sleeve, this lip-sculpting lipstick is still hydrating on the lips throughout the day. I like that I don’t see the shine or moisture on my lips yet still moisturizing underneath.

This lipstick is a long lasting lipstick that will stay on your lips through food and drinks. I wore this lipstick for the first time on my day trip to Malacca 4 months ago and it survived through oily chicken rice lunch and numerous numbers of coffee mug sipping. When the lipstick wears off, the original shade still stays on the lips as the lipstick leaves a stain. The stain will be more prominent on the lips than my hand. The stain on my hand is just to show you the stain the lipstick leaves 😉 . I know most people don’t remove lipstick properly using a makeup remover. I do that too sometimes especially when I’m dead tired. With this lipstick, I would strongly recommend using a proper lip makeup remover or miceller water at least to remove it.

I am very particular with my lipstick as I have a chappy lips with wrinkles and fine lines. Finding the right lipstick that doesn’t accentuate the flaws on my lips has not been an easy journey. I love matte lipstick but not all matte lipstick suits my lip condition. My all time favourite lipstick is Burberry Lip Velvet as it’s a matte lipstick that feels hydrating on my lips throughout the day. When I first tried this Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick, it reminds me of Burberry Lip Velvet. The pigmentation is so intense that all I need is just one layer and I’m done. Despite not a matte lipstick, I would still think that this is a semi-matte lipstick. It doesn’t have the shine like normal lipstick and yet hydrating. Mind you not many lipstick does that. The lipstick glides on the lips smoothly and the best part? It doesn’t cling onto the chapped part nor does it settles into fine lines. I thought you would also want to know that this lipstick doesn’t have any scent to it. If there is any, it is actually not detectable and quite pleasant on the lips.

Does it bleed? On me, no. However if you do have long hair like me, your hair might caught onto the lipstick on windy days and stain your face when you pull the hair away. That’s what happened to me at Malacca LOL. My friend was like “omg, your lipstick is all over your face”. Lol. This lipstick is so light-weight and comfortable that I don’t remember I have lipstick on. Gotta give kudos to Estée Lauder for coming out with such an awesome formula.

Should my Burberry Lip Velvet be scared now that I’ve found another favourite lipstick? Yes they should. I’m already a fan of the shine version and this Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick is even better! The funny thing is, the shine version gets all over my teeth and this one gets all over my face 😛 . What is wrong with me *shake head*.

If you’re looking for a lipstick that is able to stay all day through food and drink, high-intensity color payoff, semi-matte but yet hydrating, doesn’t dry the lips, doesn’t settles into fine lines, comfortable that you won’t even remember you have lipstick on, then look no further. Give this Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick a go and you will not turn back.
