I’m not someone fashionable. I have a specific fashion preference and I only wear dress, nothing but dress. In the recent months, people around me said they notice the change in me. I was told that I dress differently these days. It could be the weight loss. I don’t know. Probably my friends are assuming I dressed sexier as I no longer need to cover up for corporate office 😀 . The truth is, I still dress the same 🙂

50450 (pronounced as fifty four fifty) is a new urban brand in town. They first made a debut at the recent Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW). The noob fashion senseless me have no idea that such an inspiring brand is available locally until I talked to the brand’s Creative Director, Effindi Kamaruddin. After reading the story behind it, I WANT a piece of the collection. And the rest is history!

As you already know, I started Modern Mavens as a platform to bring all inspiring and successful women of all ages together at one common place. I love talking to entrepreneurs, Founders, brainchild, whatever you call it as it is absolutely inspiring, even to me. Effindi, the Creative Director for 50450 created the brand as he was inspired by the ever growing fashion and expansion of women’s rights in the world. The brand embraces ambitious women who dream to stand on platforms equal to those of men. This point alone had me. I knew I have to work together with 50450. You know what? 50450 and Modern Mavens shared the same vision! So we both met up, had a good few hours of chat over coffee (and Passionfruit Tandum as I was hungry) and I got this beautiful Short Flared Dress in Blue.

I was told that the Short Flared Dress is so light that I can even run with it. That came up because Effindi saw from my Instagram that I’m into running. I like his confident with his own brand and so I did just that. I put on the dress in the morning, put on a full face of makeup as I have a full day of events to attend and RAN WITH THE DRESS. He was right. The dress is light, flowy as the name said, stretchable, and comfortable. Very comfortable.

All 50450 current designs are minimalist and yet still fashionable. The idea is to implement small amounts of detail that is able to project strong and powerful looks. This Short Flared Dress for example is a simple flared, long-sleeve dress with a straight shoulder cut (which I love), and netted sheer side panels. Size ranges from XS – XXL. I did ask Effindi if the dress is supposed to be slightly fitting or loose. He told me it is designed to be loose. I was a bit afraid with loose dresses as some design could make me look bigger in size or preggers. I tried the dress on the same night and to my surprise, the dress looked fine and most importantly I do not look fat in it. It is rarely to find a dress that is loose and does not make one look big 😀

What I loveeeee is how versatile the dress can be. I can put on a striking green sports shoe and I can dress it up with a pair of high heels. One thing to note. The netted sheer side panels goes up to the top of the hip so any underwear underneath will not shown as the dress is loose, unless you are sitting down. I had skin tone undergarment so it’s all good 🙂

This 50450 Short Flared Dress is my very first long sleeve dress. I did not think I will like a dress that covers up this much as I can get hot easily but I did. Comfort is the main key here. The cuttings are just right, the straight shoulder cutting is my favourite as I do not have a straight shoulder, and the royal blue is absolutely beautiful. Check them out!
