Beauty enthusiasts will certainly understand when I say we go through product phases. Sometimes we are into foundation, sometimes blush, sometimes highlighter, at times it is bronzer, and the most frequent kick is lip product. I am not exceptional either. I have been on lip product kick at the moment. I am on a weird phase where I have been buying and collecting lip product for no reason. When Mr Postman dropped off a parcel with Mentholatum’s NEW Sugar Lip Lipbalm, I did the happy dance in the garden before ripping the packaging off for photos.
What exactly is Sugar Lip Lipbalm anyway? It is a tinted lip balm! It is called ‘sugar’ as it contain a unique Brown Sugar Recipe to nourish and smoothen the lips. Naturally, brown sugar is able to seal moisture and keeping the lips hydrated.
I like the idea of tinted lip balm. You know sometimes we are not into having heavy lipstick on our lips but yet we still want a hint of color to keep the lips from looking pale? This is the product for just that.
It comes in four shades – 01 Vintage Pink, 02 Dancing Pink, 03 Kissy Pink and 04 Rock n Pink. Yes ALL PINK.
I have two of the new Sugar Lip Lipbalm to try – 01 Vintage Pink, which is a muted pink aka Fiona’s shade and 03 Kissy Pink, which is a red. As this is a lip balm afterall, do not expect an opaque color payoff. I was actually relieved that these works more of a lip balm than a lipstick. It is highly moisturizing thanks to Super Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide and MaxiLip™. I was expecting the bullet to be all soft after a few days of using but nope. It stays firm in the tube 😀
When I first laid my eyes on 01 Vintage Pink, I knew immediately I would love this one. It is a light mauve-y shade or a muted pink shade, an everyday shade I would say. This will suit so many skin tone, perfect for anytime and anywhere. On me it is MLBB (my lips but better).
03 Kissy Pink on another hand may looked like a shocking red but it turns out to be just a red. The kind of red that anyone can easily pull off due to the lip balm consistency. In fact I like this so much that I was confused. Which one I like the most? Well, both. Everytime I put on either one of the shade, I like it even more. So don’t ask me to choose LOL.
I have been going out with minimal eye makeup lately and what lip product better to pair than these Mentholatum Sugar Lip Lipbalm? It does keep my lips hydrated throughout but I notice that when I had a few sip of water or coffee, my lips starts to dry a bit. The stain stays, just the lip balm is no longer than balmy. I guess that is quite normal with any lip product as these are not matte liquid lipstick afterall.
I would recommend removing this product from the lips using a proper makeup remover as this product contain coloring in it. You would not want the color to stay on your lips throughout the night isn’t it? 😉
