The slogan was implemented as Maybelline’s advertising slogan in 1991 and it has been the same since until 2016. This year, Maybelline adopted a brand new inspirational tagline “Make It Happen” to instill confidence among young women. It carries a powerful message behind it to spur young women to be on their journey to pursue their dreams.
The rationale behind the new slogan from Maybelline New York, according to Pink Fong, Marketing Manager of Maybelline New York Malaysia is that Maybelline see the need to evolve the way the brand speak to them, especially the new millennials, as as to reflect the way they live, think and act.
The new tagline “Make It Happen” is all about asking women to define her own beauty in her own terms, but with a drive and go-getter spirit that eventually transformed beauty to an action to make whatever matters to her happen. The word “IT” has lived with Maybelline for decades. Essentially this expresses how Maybelline New York empowers women today to define her beauty, to live her life and to make her dreams happen.
Maybelline New York also took this opportunity to highlight a group of women who embodies the spirit of the brand’s new tagline “Make It Happen” in the pursuit of their life dreams. These women includes Malaysian “IT” girls from different background but share the same common passion in pursuing own life goals as finalists of Asia’s Next Top Model 4 reality show, which Maybelline New York is an official makeup sponsor.
Besides Maybelline “IT” Girls sharing their inspirational stories, the girls was also present at the grand tagline launch where they were transformed under the hands of makeup artist Steven Sunny using Maybelline makeup
