For someone who love liquid matte lipstick, lip exfoliator is a must to do everyday before putting on the lipstick. As much as I need lip exfoliator, I am not someone who would will spend RM80+ for one from Sephora. If I need to pay that much, I might as well DIY myself at home using sugar grains and honey 😉 . I have had my eyes on ELF Studio Lip Exfoliator for quite some time at iHerb. I never get to buy it because it is always out of stock. It went back in stock for a day and poof, it is gone the next day. That is how well it sells. One fine day it was in stock and I bought four at once.
ELF Studio Lip Exfoliator comes in three varieties – Lip Exfoliator, which is this one and it has sugary grains in it, Sweet Cherry which is a smooth pink, and Mint Maniac which is a smooth teal blue. Both Sweet Cherry and Mint Maniac is a smooth type of lip exfoliator so naturally I have to get the original Lip Exfoliator. What’s an exfoliator without the exfoliating beads, right?
When the lip exfoliator is brand new, it actually does look kinda eery. What I like about this lip exfoliator is that it is shaped in a lipstick bullet. Unlike other lip exfoliator which is housed in a jar packaging, this is definitely more convenient and easier to use without dirtying the fingers.
It does take a little bit of work for a brand new bullet to melt down. After the first two usage, it melts off easier on the lip.
The instruction said to dampen the lips before massaging in a circular motion. I find licking the lips wet is the easiest but we all know that saliva do make our lips even drier. So I would recommend the use of toner or if you are near a tap, water will do. To wipe the exfoliator off, I normally would use miceller water on a cotton pad. As you use the lip exfoliator more, there will be more grain residue on the lip as compared to a brand new tube. I have no idea what this is made of but it does taste like sugar. In fact it taste just the same as ELF Kiss It Goodbye Lip Color Remover 😀 . Is it harmful that the product seeps into the mouth and I am able to taste it? I don’t know but I am still alive lol.
Here is the Before and After. It is said to contain Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils to nourish and protect. I would suggest to exfoliate before your makeup and apply lip balm on the lips before doing your makeup. I find this method helped to keep my lips soft from the exfoliation and when I want to apply my liquid lipstick, it goes on so much smoother and easier. Chapped lips with matte liquid lipstick is a no-no.
However I need to mention that this ELF Lip Exfoliator will work better on not so severe chapped lips. If you have serious dry lips, this may not help too much regardless how long you keep scrubbing. I find it to be quite mild and gentle on the lips.
You can use my code RKZ742 to get $5 OFF first purchase 😉 . iHerb also introduced credit rebate upon purchase where you will get a certain amount of rebate back into your account (expires in 60 days) after each order placed. And many more deals and offers!
ELF Studio Lip Exfoliator is not available locally in Malaysia. I bought it from iHerb.com.

Tempted…
but dare not…
LOL…
I bought the one fr Body Shop, and it’s hopeless for me.
So now, whenever I shower, i just rub off the excess dead skin cells from my lips.
but the next day, it’s still dry (though a bit better), even after using the sleeping lip mask.
It’d be worse if i didn’t use my lipbalm or sleeping mask prior to bedtime.
Lol. Body Shop one I’ve tried before. Does not work for me too. This one is slightly better but still not the hardcore type. I find it works on mild case only. Using toothbrush on wet lips is even more effect 😀
