Thousands of participants showed up in groups and as families for Guardian Walkathon 2016. It is an annual affair for Guardian Malaysia with this year being their 7th year in a row. Many came in special national costumes to mark the country’s Malaysia Day. Everyone showed up with two purpose – to walk for a healthier lifestyle and also for charity, knowing their effort will benefitted hundreds of orphans and needy children. In conjunction with the walkathon, Guardian Malaysia donated RM300,000 in total to 15 homes across the country. Each home received RM20,00 of donations.
After the 3km and 5km fun walk, there are various activities lined up for everyone. Representatives of three of the homes out of the fiften were present to received their cheques from Christina Low, Marketing Director of Guardian Malaysia at the prize presentation ceremony. They are from the Rumah Penyayang Ulin Nuha; Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim Muhammad Al-Fateh, Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Anak-Anak Yatim Darul Aminan.
