To celebrate Braun Büffel’s 130th Years, the brand revisited it’s Germany heritage, particularly to Berlin – a place rich and surrounded with historical buildings and modern architectures and into a multicultural metropolis for its Fall/Winter 2017 Collection. The Fall/Winter 2017 collection mainly taken inspiration from the nostalgic allure of 1980s German pop culture and meteoric modernism of Berlin as an avant-garde creative utopia. It is entirely a collection consisting of expressive and balanced fascination of the surrealism that lies in Berlin.

Besides that, the creative design aspiration of the House comes from a collaboration with German-American artist Lyonel Feininger, which brilliantly interpreted a contemporary reimagining of Cubism art references with a hint of three-dimensional geometric abstract forms. So what to expect from the Braun Büffel Fall/Winter 2017 collection? Expect to see lots of bold and neon colors in the women’s collection, thanks to the inspiration taken after the eclecticism of electro-pop culture references in 1980s Berlin. One would also be expecting the collection to have the perfect accessories’ formula to transform a look for evening-to-day – creating an impeccable illustration of opulent feminine glamour with a patina of sensuous sophistication.

What-To-Get: MARLENE

As soon as I walk-in to the showcase, my eyes were stuck to the MARLENE collection. Why? Because I have never seen such bold collection from Braun Büffel before and it is truly a change! The collection are inspired by the eclectic culture of 1980’s Berlin, the Marlene collection is crafted from an assortment of calf and goat leather and is a playful, edgy conception of three different design identities – each with two colourways and intricate detailing. I was told each bag comes with a normal strap for users to interchange when necessary. I have my eyes on the studded one 😉

What-To-Get: PINA

Not only the PINA is a must-get item, one of the design out of the two is also limited edition and only main stores will get it. The PINA is a bag meticulously crafted from goat leather, the streamlined Pina-31 Medium Shoulder Bag (left) is detailed with a distinctive front flap closure featuring a geometric shaped leather patch lock.

The Limited Edition PINA-M however was only made 350 pieces worldwide and Malaysia has a few of it at major boutiques. It is made with goat leather with a multi-colour design aesthetic in recognition of Berlin as an avant-garde creative utopia. The top flap is given an exclusive finish through calf hair accents. Adorned with a Fall/Winter 2017 Limited Edition logo plate in the interior, Pina-M-31 is specially crafted to accommodate both an individual’s allure for the exquisite and desire for functionality and is a highly versatile piece made to be worn anytime, anywhere.

What-To-Get: BUFFY-BE and BULLY-BE

My favourite bull Buffy and Bully was taken back into the eccentric decade where splashes of urban graffiti that decorate the concrete walls are only underscored by the nightlife and cultural collision between the new-wave grunge and neo-expressionist movements of 1980s’ Berlin. With intricate three-dimensional assorted leather embellished details, the Buffy-BE and Bully-BE collections reference the era of urban grunge youth attitude and is an imaginative envisioning of the surreal romance between Buffy and Bully set in contrast against the mystifyingly complex yet artistically exquisite nature of Berlin.

Buffy-Be was given a makeover to suit the 80s by glamming her up to look like quirky rock-star chic. She’s also donning an ensemble of a pleated pouf dress, stiletto pumps accessorized with larger-than-life sparkly crystal drape earrings, sensuous crimson red lips decorated with contrasting eye shadow, Buffy-BE is beautifully crafted for the woman with an eclectic personality that wishes to make a dazzling and extravagant impression.

Bully-Be on the other hand has a grunge-style going on as part of the men’s collection. It is inspired by New-Wave youth culture melded with a tinge of rock ‘n’ roll, Bully-BE is an exhaustive calibration of key signatures in polished grunge style with a studded leather biker jacket and a pair of sunglasses – intricately crafted for the maverick gentleman who is looking for flamboyant and elaborate accessory to embody a new perspective of style.

The Classic: KAETHE

Kaethe collection has the perfect urban-meet-uptown sophisticated look, with a perfect blend of clean lines, with clever aesthetics. This never out of style collection has a tote to a backpack, crafted from semi-vegetale tanned calf leather and features a practical interior for organizational ease of important documents or daily essentials. It still carries the Braun Büffel Horn Charm and also available with detachable shoulder straps on the side. The Kaethe collection can be said ideal for young professional woman that is looking for a comfortable carry that is both sleek and practical in reflection of her downtown chic style.

The Men’s Fall/Winter 2017 Collection
