I have been enjoying my Laura Mercier Joie de Vivre products so much so that I have totally forgotten to tell you about it 🙂 . I was thinking to review the lipstick first but suddenly yesterday I wanted to talk about the Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes. Then, as I was typing my review away, I decided to lump both products into one lol. Like a friend said – redirect the heart. And I redirected twice! 😛

This beautiful Laura Mercier parcel arrived unexpectedly from KENS Apothecary. I’m always grateful to them for letting me try their products without any commitment. Joie de Vivre is Laura Mercier’s Spring 2017 color collection. The entire collection consists of one Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes, three Velour Lovers Lip Colour, three Lip Pencil, one Tightlight Cake Eyeliner, and one Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara. Joie de Vivre makeup collection evolves around the idea of bringing the natural color in your skin for a healthy and youthful glow.

Joie de Vivre Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes in Windflush

Joie de Vivre Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes is a multi-purpose baked powder that is said to be universally flattering. This, I find it to be true. Well, that was not what I think at first try but after using it for several times, I finally get it to work with my typical makeup do. At first glance, it looked like a baked bronzer. I would be jumping up and down if it was. However I am not disappointed at all. The warmth of Windflush, the shade for the Joie de Vivre collection is absolutely beautiful. I have to be careful with the contouring I do if I want to use this blush for the day. That is because the shade on my skin is close to bronzer. So if I am heavy handed with my bronzer as contour and then apply this as a blush, I may look like I have a big blob across my cheek. I like that I can use the warmth of Windflush to top up on my contour. It goes on the skin looking a little peachy but warm. I love this kind of shade especially as crease shade. Yes, I do use it as eyeshadow too. The powder is very light-weight so a heavy swirl of the brush is needed. I don’t see a lot of fallout, which is good as the powder is really baked.

The packaging of Joie de Vivre are kept simple and it has cute writing on it. The shiny surface do leave fingerprints all over it. You know how crazy I go when I see fingerprints but I always clean up all my makeup after each use so in the end it doesn’t bother me 😛

This is how Joie de Vivre Colour Powder For Cheeks & Eyes in Windflush shade looks like on me. I didn’t do a hand swatch because it doesn’t show up on the back of my hand. As I said, the powder is very light-weight. You have to really get your brush on the pan to pick up more products. I like how the payoff looks natural as a blush. Almost blended in by itself with my contour shade.

Joie de Vivre Velour Lovers Lip Colour (RM129 / 3.6g)

I kept both of the Joie de Vivre Velour Lovers Lip Colour for the longest time ever because I thought they are some creamy or glossy lipstick and if you know me well enough, you will know that I like matte lipstick. Until one day I had an itch to open a new lipstick to use and I had been thinking about these lipstick so I took the shade Joy to use. OH MY GOD. I literally had a shock of my life as these goes on matte! It’s kinda hard to get the color on my lips so I took the box to read. Duh Fiona!

It turns out these Velour Lovers Lip Colour are matte metallic lipstick! I had a lot of matte lipstick but not metallic. So I was kinda excited. As you know, metallic lip product is kinda in the trend now. It turns out Laura Mercier is up to the trend too.

These lipsticks are like a peekaboo. It looked dry from the bullet itself, it goes on the lip hard and dry thanks to the metallic in it but it is not drying at all. Like seriously not even a bit drying. I like that I don’t feel any lip product on my lips. It lasts on me the entire day, all through food and drinks. No touch up needed at all as the lipstick doesn’t wears off from the lips entirely. Whenever I had the shade Joy on me, everyone will ask me what lipstick I’m using. It’s really flattering.

It has a buildable pigmentation. When you apply a few times, it become a full on full coverage lipstick. I read from Laura Mercier website that this lipstick has mattifying powders with moisturizing mango butter combination that enables a matte finish that doesn’t dry the lips. My favourite colour? Joy of course! It has a purplish shade to it and you know I like purple 🙂

I find that both shade Joy and Happy are almost similar. I hardly could tell them apart on the lips! But the swatches are clear. Joy has pink tone, while Happy is a straight on red.
