Beauty Box Review The Lilac Box

Need Help Carrying Your Lilac Box 3? Nah I Don’t Think So.

Lilac Box is the only beauty box in Malaysia that claimed themself as a beauty box that ONLY provide premium brand samples. No drugstore stuff. Just premium and nothing but premium. They’re not cheap too. Starting off with a debut box for only RM35, they have since increased to RM49.90 from Box 2 onwards. Debut box was impressive, so is Box 2. I was expecting Box 3 to be as impressive as the previous 2 boxes and when Box 3 subscription was open for ordering, the 3 guys created a hype on their Facebook page saying they didn’t realize it’s going to be THIS full!! and soon marketing strategy Facebook blasting such as it’s the best box ever, it’s going to be awesome and the most epic one would be “you’ll need some help carrying Box 3”. So when you saw this kind of blasting of course you will expect what was promised right? You wouldn’t thought they would dare to boast in Facebook right?

Well take a look at Box 3. It’s pathetic. I could have pay RM38 for MIVVA or RM39.90 for Wonderbox or even RM50 for Vanity Trove!

Vanity Trove May 2013 Edition – Truly An Organic “Awesome Wholesome”

Just in case you are wondering why is there no beauty box review last month up till to date. I am actually on beauty box break which means I will not be getting any beauty boxes for review at the moment until I am able to recuperate from all the overwhelming products laying around my room. I will still subscribe here and there as gifts but nothing for me.

This review is exceptional. I couldn’t say no to Vanity Trove. I’m a fan of…their drawer box *grin*. But of course besides the great hardworking people behind it and I admire how they work. I’m also in the midst of collecting their box to form a vanity drawer unit. Now that explains it 🙂

The May 2013 Edition was themed as Awesome Wholesome. The name rhymes I know. But Awesome Wholesome is all about organic. This would be the first ever box full with organic products that I ever received. I must say I’m pretty stoked with the content so far.

With 9 beauty box subscription being offered in the market (…and counting) the expectation towards each and every one of it is getting higher and higher. I’m not sure if you realize this, beauty boxes are exceeding demand in the market now. Based on what I read and see nowadays subscribers are demanding or expecting more than what beauty box can offer. You can say that the initial concept of a beauty box is errrrr well… is down the drain. Let me tell you again what is exactly a beauty box and why it is being offered as it is. Mind you this is based on my own understanding eversince I subscribed to a few from Singapore wayyy before anyone of you do here in Malaysia.

Beauty box is a monthly subscription box with curated samples/deluxe sizes (hereinafter refered as sample) for those that want to try new brands and products. It is similar to a magazine subscription whereas you pay a certain subscription fee to get a box. Why samples? Simple. I think whoever that came out with this awesome beauty box idea realized that we had a hard time walking over to a certain brand’s counter or outlet to ask for samples to try before purchasing a full size especially luxury brands. Drugstore brand on the other hand will only give you samples when you make a purchase with them. It is thrown in as “value for money” kind of thing. Unless you get a sample from local magazine which was very rare a few years ago.

MIVVA Beauty Box April 2013 “Galaxy” Edition Review

MIVVA’s April edition was highly anticipated because of the new box design. The team did a test run in this month’s edition but not all subscribers are getting the new design as the boxes was sent out randomly. I’m one of the lucky receipient to score the new box design. But before I show you the new box, let’s take a look at the content of the “Galaxy” themed edition.

If you’ve been following my Instagram and Facebook you would had already saw this new design on the day I received the box. The design on the lid was perfect in pink and mint green. By far MIVVA is the only beauty box to be bold in their box design. Although I like their previous box, I cannot deny that I love the new one more. But fret not. Everyone will be getting this new design from next month onwards. However the bottom part of the box is quite soft therefore it’s dented due to courier.

Vanity Trove April 2013 Edition “The Shower of Summer” Review

Last Saturday I attended the exclusive soft launch of Vanity Trove Malaysia high tea session whereas I was handed by hand the latest April 2013 edition trove. I always love to receive beauty box by hand because the box stays in tip-top condition that way.

Now, remember how everyone sort of meltdown on March trove? I melt down upon opening but then when I rethink again how tough it is to do a beauty box in Malaysia…I’m all chirpy again and I’m no longer disappointed. And remember how I said must have faith with them? Looks like the understanding and patience is paid off now when I saw the content of April trove.

Wonderbox March 2013 Edition Review

It is the time of the month again where all beauty boxes are busy with packing and couriering out their respective boxes. The first to arrive this month is Wonderbox.

I must say when I took up the box, it was lighter than usual. Here is the content for March edition. It is not quite the usual Wonderbox. I used to have complication arranging all the products in the box for photograph but not this box.
