Clarins Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact: Perfect contour color for the hairline, too muddy for cheekbones

I may be setting my foot into Clarins for their skin care line but Clarins do come out with impressive makeup line over the years. Clarins company in Malaysia used to carry both skin care line and makeup line until two years ago where the company decided to pull out their makeup line from every other normal counters and only a few high traffic counters is still selling the makeup line. However, these available counters will only be selling existing best selling products like foundations and lipsticks. The company doesn’t have the intention to bring in new shades, new collection or limited edition. It’s rather disappointing as this is the time I’m really into makeup. It’s even more disappointing when international Clarins releases super gorgeous limited edition piece such as this Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact. Well, it’s suppose to be limited edition but I still see this item for sale online. Mine is made in 2012 judging from the batch code and I only bought this a few months ago…in 2014! Not so limited edition after all 😛

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact
The truth is, even if Clarins Malaysia is still bringing in new makeup collection, I doubt they will bring this Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact in. Let’s face it. We Malaysians are just not into bronzing or contouring the face. We lived in an Asian country that are into having the fairest skin of all, not the other way round. Being an Asian Chinese and being someone that is constantly catching up to the international trend (I do mean rebellious), I finally realized why Caucasians like to contour and warm up their complexion. The face structure indeed look more dimensional with chiseled cheekbones and jawline. I am totally hooked! You can read about how I contour my face at this link 😀

Clarins Extra-Firming Eye Complete Rejuvenating Cream: An all-rounder anti-aging eye cream

Today, at this very moment, this current time in my life, if I were to choose a skin concern that bothers me the most, that would be my under eye wrinkles. I’ve come to peace with what used to bothers me in the past (acne marks) because I soon realized that it was my under eye wrinkles that made me look 10 times older.

I love to use eye cream. I think I went overboard with the amount I used over the past one year so I’ve developed ‘another’ concern and that is tiny bits of oil seeds. Add that with under eye wrinkles and you get one very unhappy girl. That is me. So when I was invited for an upcoming Clarins Extra-Firming Eye Complete Rejuvenating Cream press preview launch two months ago, boy oh boy I was more than delighted to go. Before you all go “what? another eye cream?”, then I gotta tell you this in advance before my review below. In the Extra-Firming range, Clarins actually had an eye serum AND an eye cream – the Clarins Advanced Extra Firming Eye Contour Serum and Eye Contour Cream. Most users feedback that it is troublesome to apply two separate product just for the eyes so Clarins took that duo away and replaced with THIS 😀

Clarins Extra-Firming Eye Complete Rejuvenating Cream
At the launch of 4th generation of Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring Serum not too long ago, I found out that Asian women carries larger face pockets on the jawline thus having a rounder face feature comparing to Caucasian women. It is not a surprise that both group have different eye shape and sizes but what we don’t know is that because of this dissimilarity, the aging process of Asian eyes is also at a more rapid rate. This is why I have been saying over and over again that we shouldn’t skip eye care routine. I believe each and every one of us have been searching for the ultimate eye cream that is powerful enough to target all concern at once. Clarins said that you can now be at ease because the search is finally over as Clarins Extra-Firming Eye Complete Rejuvenating Cream offers a complete solution to age defying eyes especially for Asian women.

Toner 101: Types of Skin Toners

Toner, or some company refer as lotion is generally used after cleansing but before applying moisturizer. This step is crucial as it act as a bridge between the cleanser and moisturizer. Many would skip this step thinking it is unnecessary or not important, just like how some people would skip eye cream, which they deemed as unimportant as well. I was one of the many a few years ago. I would skip toner but not my eye cream because I learnt about a simple fact on using a proper eye cream than relying on face moisturizer as an eye cream. Anyhow that is a totally different topic 😀

Toner 101
Today I’m going to talk about the basic of skin toner. I’m not going into extreme detail i.e. astringents, floral water, fresheners, herbal toner and so on. I’m going to cover the few different types of toner in basic. This is what you should know at least. I remember a few years ago I would skip toner because no BA would tell me toner is equally important in a skin care regime. They would tell me I can skip it as it doesn’t do anything to the skin. There are so many different types of toner or lotion available in the market. Do you know which one you need?

Cleanser 101: Types of Facial Cleansers

While I was composing product review for a new skin care range that I’m currently on, I feel the need to walk you through types of moisturizer and how to choose the right one for your skin type. Come to think of it, it will be a bit odd (for me) if I don’t start from the cleanser up to moisturizer. Being as random as I can be sometimes, this brings us to today’s topic – Facial Cleansers.

Cleanser 101
There are so many different type, brand, texture, function and benefits cleansers out there to choose from. Sometimes I can’t help but to wonder, is it really necessary to came out with so many type? I don’t usually go with a specific cleanser targeting a skin concern unless I have a severe breakout then only I’ll start searching for something to calm the breakout. Otherwise, I’m more into texture type of cleanser.

Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring Serum: The 4th generation of its kind for a slimmer face, refined cheeks and lifted jawline

Just as excited as I am when I was invited to the media launch and preview of the NEW Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring Serum, I’m excited now that I’m finally able to share this new launch out after keeping it a secret for a month and a half 🙂 Just a little introduction on how I got into blogging and what makes me started using skin care. I was diagnosed with a serious condition of Hyperthyroidism and I was put on lots of medication to control all the hyper metabolism inside my body. What I didn’t know is that my body was not used to the intruder (the meds) and I put on weight as my body was adjusting itself back to normal. The medication also gave me puffy face and water retention was building up on my face as well. One day I saw how slim my client’s face was and I ask her if she went on a diet. She told me about Clarins and strongly recommend it to me but she did warn me about the price. So yes, Clarins Shaping Facial Lift was the reason why I started using skin care. It was my first Clarins purchase and I have repurchased nearly 20 bottles since then. Clarins 4th Generation Shaping Facial Lift Shaping Facial Lift was specially created for Asian women and Clarins was the first to offer the world the one and only refining serum back in 1999 after studies shown that the most leading concern for Asian women is the need to achieve a more refined and sharper feature. Thanks to Clarins for listening and taking the plunge to come out with a product that is now the No. 1 contouring serum in Asia.

Preview: Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact – Taking bronzing and contouring interest to another level

Ever since I discovered and got into the whole face contouring phenomena, I couldn’t just stop at one bronzer. I have since bought a few bronzer, which reminds me that I have not review them. But it’s okay. Because recently I bought myself another new bronzer. Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact is bronzer compact that I discovered from reading international beauty blogs, and it is also a bronzer that I just couldn’t get my hands on because it’s not available in Malaysia.

So where and how am I able to buy the Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact if it’s not available physically in Malaysia eh? The answer is through MySale.my. MySale.my is different from iHerb. One will need to register in order to view the deals available. Each deal comes with a short duration for you to shop. What I like about MySale is that everything is listed in Ringgit Malaysia. If you’re new to MySale, you got to be very cautious with all the fine prints on the sale. Most people mislooked the part where MySale clearly stated each item “Estimated Delivery” on the item description page. Why is this important? Because MySale will take about one month (more or less) from the date of the sale ending for delivery of all orders. I ordered this Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact on the 3rd April 2014 and then MySale went quiet on the order up until 23rd April where the stock arrived their warehouse, packed on 28th April, dispatched out on 29th April and finally the parcel arrived my doorstep on 10th May 2014, which is within the estimated delivery stated of 6th May to 13th May 2014. One flaw with ordering from MySale is that the parcel is not trackable. There is a tracking page provided but all the page show is “No record is found”. So it’s kinda like living in the dark from the time I paid up until the day I received the parcel.
