BareMinerals Make Up - Lips Review: Make Up

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie: Get Ready for the most creamy, pigmented and moisturizing lipstick of your life

Towards the end of last year, around the same time as Sephora Christmas collection markdown is when some of the permanent products from a few brands are being heavily discounted. Among the brands are Marc Jacobs, Too Faced, BareMinerals and Stila. I have been swatching BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick countless of times but I did not ended up buying them because frankly speaking, it was the testers that put me off. It was really gross and dirty that I didn’t swatch all shade at one go and that explains why I kept going back for swatching. Secondly is due to the melted lipstick tester. I have a philosophy on lipstick. If it was melted at the store, that means the lipstick is prone to melt in my room or my bag.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Get Ready
It was during a short trip to Sephora Gurney Paragon in Penang last weekend that had me finally purchasing BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie. Initially I wanted to get something from Marc Jacobs New Nude Sheer Lip Gel but I couldn’t decide on the shade so I wander around the store and stopped by BareMinerals. The testers are surprisingly quite new and I was happy. I decided on a fuchsia pink; Never Say Never. Unfortunately it was out of stock and they only left with two shades; Get Ready and Be Free. Be Free is not an everyday wearable shade because it is a bronzey chocolate while Get Ready is actually my kind of shade all day err day. I really didn’t want anymore ‘everyday shade’. It doesn’t seems like I have a choice so I got Get Ready. The BA even tried persuading me to take two Get Ready so that they can clear it all out fast lol. You know what, I really regretted for not listening to her and get two.

Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector SPF 50/PA++++: Superb sun protection, hydrating, non-oily and it makes a good makeup base as well

Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector SPF 50/PA++++ came to me at the right time, just before my road trip up north to Penang. I couldn’t think of the most perfect time to test out this sunscreen other than a place as hot as Penang. I’m not sure about you but the Northern part of Malaysia has always been hotter than KL in my context.

Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector
Even before the road trip, I’ve been using this Crescent White UV Protector everyday under my makeup. To be honest, I was expecting a heavy sunscreen judging from it’s creamy white consistency and that my face would be a total oil slick within the next few hours so I was really surprised to find out that I experience none of those. Tsk tsk tsk. Never judge a book by it’s cover, eh? 😀

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette: You don’t need to be a pro to buy this mixing palette

One thing for sure is that I get foundation or any other makeup on my dress every single morning. I kinda forget that I have it on the back of my hand. Foundation is one of the most stubborn stain to get rid of dress due to the fact that I don’t hard scrub my work dresses or it could be that my mum wasn’t paying attention to makeup stain on my dress? Long story cut short, I wanted to get a mixing palette badly. I kinda like MAKE UP FOR EVER one but knowing it’s MUFE, it means it will be expensive. I’m not going to spend a lot on a mixing palette. I knew Inglot had it too so the choices now is to either bite the bullet or don’t get it at all. One day I decided to email MAKE UP FOR EVER awesome PR and Marketing girl to enquire on the prices and let’s just say I literally dash over to MAKE UP FOR EVER Starhill boutique the next day and purchased it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette Large Size
MAKE UP FOR EVER Flat Steel Palette comes in two sizes – a Small size 126mm x 75mm and a Large size 163mm x 106mm. The price differences is only RM5 apart so you bet I got the Large size for RM25. I have no idea why I was stressing myself thinking it would be expensive. It was surprisingly not. That explains the dashing to the store 😀

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque: It’s really not what you expected

By now you’ve already heard about the hype, knew what was the hype and you might be one of the lucky 200 users to be a part of the hype. That’s right. Bourjois Malaysia did something that blew my mind completely. This well-known French cosmetic brand decided to give away 200 units of the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque to 200 lucky fans who submitted their details through Bourjois Malaysia Facebook page in conjunction with the new release.

It’s not hard to gauge what exactly is Rouge Edition Aqua Laque. It comes in a short dainty tube just like it’s sister, Rouge Edition Velvet, which is my most used lip product at the moment due to it’s long lasting. When ‘laque’ is added to the name, one would automatically expect something that is high shine or glossy. Just take a look at the shiny top cap. Okay, I’m not going to mess up your mind further. This Rouge Edition Aqua Laque is a hybrid lip product of lip gloss and lipstick 🙂

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque
The care package that I received contain a set of three carefully selected Rouge Edition Aqua Laque. There is 02 Rosé On The Rocks, which is a rose nude shade, 04 Viens Si Tu Roses, which is a raspberry shade and 06 Feeling Reddy, which is a bright peachy red shade. Overall, I got three different shades from three different shade category with three different intensity. Ain’t that thoughtful? 😉

Make Up - Face Review: Make Up Skin Food

Skin Food Black Egg Pore Gel Base: The lingering scent puts me off but I like the velvety matte gel that minimize the appearance of large pores

The best thing about my job and the industry I’m in is that my client sometimes give me products to try. The very first time I met up with Skin Food a few months ago, I went to their office. The marketing girl and I had similar skin problems, except that her skin is better than mine by double. We spoke about oily skin, large pores and how foundation melts on our types of skin. Throughout the conversation, I was staring at her skin. She looks like she had foundation on but in fact she only apply makeup base. That’s right. Only makeup base. A makeup base that gives her a little bit of coverage, fills in the pores, smooths out uneven skin tone and controls sebum. At the end of the meeting, she gave me a tube of Skin Food Black Egg Pore Gel Base to try along with a few other goodies to take home.

Skin Food Black Egg Pore Gel Base
The Skin Food Black Egg Pore Gel Base is a pore-refining makeup primer that minimize the appearance of enlarged pores. Usually pore-refining product contain silicone in it but not this one. It’s comes in a gel-ish fluid that does not feel silicony at all. It has a tint of shade to it to smooth uneven skin and at the same time to brighten dull skin tones. It also claimed to control sebum, just like what Skin Food marketing girl told me.
