Review: Celebrating 15 Years in Makeup With RMK 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette #02 Gray

I just realized I’ve been doing makeup for 15 years! And what a coincident that RMK is also celebrating their 15th Anniversary this year with the release a few limited edition palette.

I’m someone who’s fond of colors for my eyes. I’m not into neutral tone or brown as the color makes my eyes puffy. Or should I say I looked like I was punched in the eye haha! My favorite has and still is blue, purple and green. Recently I’ve been wearing a lot of green and purple and I was in the search of a blue palette. Whaddaya know…my wish came true when this beautiful palette landed on my desk a few weeks ago.

RMK Malaysia recently released 3 limited edition 15th Anniversary palette. Two out of the three is eyeshadow palette in 01 Brown and 02 Gray. The third palette is a lip palette with 4 gorgeous lipstick color in it. The one I have is an eyeshadow palette in 02 Gray and that’s exactly what I’m gonna review today!

One thing that caught my attention is the “lipstick” casing. Yes you heard me right. Lipstick casing-alike for eyeshadow palette. The mirror silver metal casing is sturdy enough for you to toss in your handbag. It fits on my palm perfectly too. As perfect as it is on the quality and creativity of the casing design, I’m not someone who would fancy mirror-like metal for my makeup. I don’t like seeing finger prints and makeup residue on my makeup casing. I like my makeup to be clean inside out. With this eyeshadow palette I’m constantly wiping. I know I know. I’m overly stubborn on cleanliness. That was just my own preference. Most people wouldn’t mind the mirror metal casing 🙂

As if I wasn’t fascinated enough with the casing, I was once again blown away with the interior design as soon as I removed the cover. How brilliant! There’s a brush included and the brush is tucked in nicely in the middle.

The brush included is removed without any glitch and it’s perfectly smooth. I forgot to mention that removing the case cover is also the same; as smooth as melted butter. On one side of the brush is stamped with the word RMK 15th Anniversary.

The brush is a dual-ended brush. Push the black tip to either side and the brush will slide out accordingly to which side you choose. Can I have extra brush pleaaassseee RMK?

I like that there’s a metal cover covering the eyeshadow. You can only get to the eyeshadow once the brush is slided out from it’s position. Not an issue for me. The only thing bothering me is that the case doesn’t sit properly and everytime I use just one hand to run my brush over the eyeshadow the whole thing just dropped to it’s back and I couldn’t get more product on my brush. So one hand is needed to hold the palette while the other hand to hold the brush.

Voilà. The gorgeous RMK 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette.

One thing I like about Japanese makeup is that it’s shimmering. I’m not into matte eyeshadow but shimmering anytime! In this palette there’s 4 eyeshadow color. 4 is just nice for me as I normally would use 4 colors everyday.

The first thing I notice is the dark grey shade and I went OMG. First thought is how am I going to use it? I always avoid palette which has a black in it. I think a lot of us will use it as eyeliner. But I learnt a good trick from Adrian during my makeover with RMK 2 weeks ago. Read here. Adrian said use the dark grey as base before applying the light blue. This way the light blue will stand out more. Adrian was right. It does intensify the light blue.

Here is the swatch on my hand. Absolute gorgeous.

This is how I normally do my eye makeup. As I said earlier I normally use 4 colors at one go.

In this look I use the yellow shade on the inner corner of my eye till the 3/4 of my lid. Then I use the dark grey as the base for the outer corner of the lid filling up the 1/4 of the outer corner. Follow by light blue shade on top of the dark grey. Meanwhile applying the light blue shade I blend a bit towards the yellow shade so that there’s no harsh line between the two color. Then I use a blending brush to blend the harsh line of the outer corner and finish off with the white shade below my brow and lightly run the same brush on the crease. This sort of blends everything together.

As for bottom lash, I use the light blue shade from middle to the outer corner and the white shade on the inner corner.

Usually I’d apply my eyeshadow a lil bit further up so that when I open my eyes the color is visible. In this look I don’t know why I’ve done it slightly lower LOL.

Up close look.

The finishing look. Hope you like it.
