If you are facing congested pores, excess oil secretion and large pores issue like what I had you might want to start implementing facial scrub into your cleansing regime. Facial scrub is one of a must-have product that I don’t mind stocking up. Currently I’m rotating between 4 different type of scrub and I’m not shy to admit that I scrub my face on every alternate days. Some of you might think I’m over-scrubbing my face. For normal skin type yes, as for me it’s not too much at all because of my congested skin condition.

It is not a surprise that Clarins is still one of the skin care that I am still using till to date although I haven’t been reviewing their product much nowadays. That’s because I’ve reviewed most of the Clarins that I have on hand. As I’ve gone through 2 tubes of Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream With Microbeads it struck me one day that I had totally forgotten to review this. I guess it’s never too late since this is not seasonal or limited edition item within the brand. It’s permanent don’t worry 🙂

Clarins went through a packaging revamp phase back in 2011. This last tube that I had in my stash is the new packaging. Absolutely love the new look and packaging. The signature white interface with red wording is still maintained as it has been Clarins signature for so many years.

With the recent packaging revamp, however the way how the exfoliator is dispense out are maintained as well. It is still the screw cap with squeeze tube system. I don’t have any issue with this type of tube, afterall I don’t use it so often to feel the troublesome of it.

Clarins Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream With Microbeads is suitable for normal, dry, combination or oily skin. This exfoliator contain dual-action microbeads that are larger in pixel but at the same time feels creamy because of it’s cream texture. This exfoliator is very much similar with Clinique’s 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula, which I am also using at the moment. Both contain harsh microbeads that comes in cream texture. Having said that it is strongly recommended to use this on damp skin and massage ever-so-gently all over the face avoiding the eye area of course. Although Clarins said that this product can also be used on dry skin, I still feel that dry skin user may not like this and that it may be a tiny bit too dry for them at the beginning.

I don’t keep repeating “harsh microbeads” for no reason. The microbeads is indeed larger than usual! But Clarins have a good reason for it. It comes with soothing extracts of mimosa tenuiflora and elderberry. Flaky skin surface will all be clean off after use. The exfoliator is also said to tighten pores. So far I have not seen any pores tighten except for smoother face after each use.

Whenever I know I need to do mask after shower, I make sure I exfoliate my face first. By removing all the dirt and dead skin cell from the surface of the skin…the essence from the mask will be easily absorb in. I don’t feel any tightening after use mainly because I don’t have dry skin so I can’t speak for those that are with dry skin. Just make sure you massage the exfoliator gently in circular motion without over-doing it.

I prefer this exfoliator the most comparing with others. It smell quite pleasant which I really like. When used on damp skin it does it’s job pretty good and it doesn’t feel that harsh although I don’t mind all the microbeads. The more the better lol.
