The one brand that nail polish geek talk constantly about is Seche. It is also a brand that I see appearing at every nail polish blog. So what exactly is Seche? The first time I ever read about Seche is from a beauty blog but I cannot remember which. It was actually a mixed review so let’s just say I wasn’t interested with Seche since then because of that review. There is one point of time where I was very much into nail polish. The fear of yellowish nail always bother me so I started to Google more info on Seche and found quite a lot of good review. When Seche finally hit Malaysia shore, I bought not one but two bottle of Seche. Which two? Let’s find out.
I must say. Seche is really confusing. The sub-range for Seche are all named as Seche something something such as Seche Vite, Seche Restore, Seche Ultra-V, Seche Base, Seche Clear, Seche Natural and Seche Plus. See! It’s so confusing! Eventhough so I have a clear mindset of what I want – Seche Clear™ Crystal Clear Base Coat and Seche Vite™ Dry Fast Top Coat.
Seche Clear™ Crystal Clear Base Coat – RM45
There is three type of base coats in Seche namely Seche Base, Seche Clear and Seche Natural. When it comes to base coat, Seche Clear Crystal Clear Base Coat is the best seller and highly recommended.
It is only created after ten years of development with one objective, which is to offer a clear base coat for nail polish that does not turn yellow but adhere to the natural nail at the same time.
Crystal Clear Base Coat dries up in lightning speed. I can immediately apply nail polish on top of the base coat in no time.
Seche Vite™ Dry Fast Top Coat – RM45
Now that I have Crystal Clear Base Coat to protect my nail, what about my nail polish? That’s where Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat comes in. I guess you’ve heard a lot about this iconic Dry Fast Top Coat before. It’s everywhere!
This top coat is widely acknowledged as the world’s finest top coat. It is specially formulated to penetrate through nail lacquer, deep into base coat to form a single solid coating over the nail plate for a much more durable finish. Same as base coat, Dry Fast Top Coat will not yellow and prevent nails from chipping and peeling. As a result nail is stronger and silky smooth.
This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Toluene is mainly used as a solvent like those in paint and paint thinners, chemical reactants and lacquers. Inhaling this type of chemical will cause minor negative health effects, but that usually go away when you are no longer exposed – like painting your nails. If you inhale extremely high level of Toluene then you will really suffer serious side effects.
Despite the warning on the label saying this Seche Vite will cause birth defects, I reckon it is still okay to use since I’m not using a big amount on a frequent basis and I definitely know that I’m not drinking this so it is actually still safe to use. If this product were to be used as skin care, it would have been banned by the MOH.
This base coat and top coat duo work well hand in hand. Nowadays with my busy work schedule I can only change my nail polish once every 2 weeks oppss! With Seche Clear Crystal Clear Base Coat on, my nails doesn’t turn yellow. There is once I tried leaving nail polish on for 3 weeks and guess what…my nails natural color is still visible. There was no sign of yellow stain.
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is a different story. Not only it gave extreme shine to my nail polish, it also protect it from early chipping and peeling. I said earlier that I only change my nail polish every 2 weeks right? There is minimal chipping on the tip mainly because I have Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat on. It prolong the life span of nail polish on my nails. Some user said that the shine is only for a good few days. For me it lasted until I removed it.

Ooh, I didn’t know we had Seche in Malaysia now! I’ve read in so many nail polish blogs where the bloggers swear by the top coat! I’m so getting it now! How much is it here? Nail polishes are so much more expensive here compared to the original price. 🙁
Hi Ashley, Seche has been here officially for one year :). Seche is priced at RM45 each for base coat and top coat.
There is a Raya promotion from today (19/7/13) till 15th August. 25% discount for this weekend and 15% onwards 😀
Doesn’t Seche Vite have a warning at the back that it causes some cancer or defect? That’s why i was hesitant to use it.. Am using Sally Hansen’s 30 second top coat.. works like a charm! 🙂
Yes it does. The culprit ingredient is Toluene.
I’m not drinking it :P. I’m only using it once in a while so it is still alright 🙂
Seche Fast Dry Top Coat is the best if you want your polish to dry in literally minutes! It’s also great for smoothing out rough glitter polishes. The downside is, it will ‘shrink’ your nail polish if you don’t wrap it under the nail when applying colour polish. Overall though it’s still the best and fastest drying top coat I’ve ever used. 😀
I agree. It does help to smooth out rough glitter polishes as well as uneven application :D. Seriously it shrink the nail polish? I never experienced that.
I use this too! It’s cheaper on nailfiesta.com and sgdrugstore.com but if you are getting other things as well cos of shipping fees
Agree but I very very seldom will buy nail products LOL.
No yellow stains and long lasting shine?! Hola, I need me some Seche base and top coats!
Nope. Absolutely no yellow stain on my nails :D. Not sure about others though 😛
