People say, laughter is the best medicine. Harith Iskander said “To Know Malaysia Is To Laugh Malaysia!”. I say high five to the King of Malaysian comedy! That brings us to today’s topic. No, I’m not going to be the one to go up stage and do stand up comedy. I have stage fright remember? I’ll leave the tough job to Harith Iskander and his friends.
There’s a great meaning to how this show came about. 2014 is no doubt the toughest year so far for the country and to every Malaysians. There has been so much tragedy which happened one by one and so Harith Iskander came out with this great idea to gather the nation as one through true Malaysian-styled comedy and humour! Yes you wouldn’t expect anything less from godfather of stand-up comedy in Malaysia wouldn’t you? Get ready to laugh your head off people!
“Harith Iskander…To know Malaysia is to LAUGH MALAYSIA!” which will be held on a Wednesday, 29th October 2014 at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil be will be the biggest night of stand-up comedy in Malaysia featuring new talents from the comedy scene and other seasoned international comedians as well. What’s unique about the show is that Dr. Jason Leong, one of the best of the new crop of Malaysian comedian’s is going to make an appearance as well as special guest Papa CJ – one of India’s most influential comedians.

According to Harith, viewers can expect new materials as well as some classic “best of” and with a mixture of interactive visuals and live music on stage. When met at the recent blogger conference last week, he is positive on bringing a totally new exciting edge to his performance. When asked about where he get his show ideas from, he said the show’s topic would be a mixture of daily observations on Malaysia ‘tick’ but of course presented in the Harith Iskander style. Harith also added that this show will go synonymous towards the government’s effort in promoting brotherhood and camaraderie amongst fellow Malaysians.
Dr. Jason Leong, who is a doctor by procession jokingly said that he already earned all the money and now he want to do something that he like which is stand up comedy. He said that he don’t talk jokes with his patients because they are already depressed so I believe his show material would be a good one as he briefly mentioned that he will share about his funny encounters during his medical studies and from his current practice. It’s not often to get a real doctor sharing about doctor-patients funny moments! I can already imagine how funny it would be as I personally unintentionally always bluntly ter-ask ‘funny’ questions to my doctor which never fail to make him speechless 😀
What really gain my respect towards the show’s initiative of bringing the nation as one is also the charity meaning behind it as well. Harith and his wife, Dr. Jezamine who is also his manager are both the ambassadors of OrphanCARE, a non-profit non-governmental organisation that aims to give every orphan and abandoned baby a loving home will be donating percentage of profits from ticket sales to the organization. He also added that they hope the contribution will help in ensuring that these less fortunate children will receive the care and support of loving families, hence living up to the NGO’s motto of “Every child Needs a Family”.
