Hello again! I hope you enjoyed the first Estée Lauder week product review that I posted two days ago, which is the Estée Lauder Futurist Aqua Brilliance™ Compact Makeup. You’re here because you like what you read and you want more. Good to know because things have just gotten more interesting.
For the second Estée Lauder week product review, let’s talk about eye makeup. Let’s all go oohhsss and aahhhss on Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Color Palette #Fierce Safari. It’s the most gorgeous shimmery gold and moss green eyeshadow I’ve ever seen.
Interestingly, the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Color Palette was designed to complement the Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick that was launched just a few months ago. Not sure if you notice or not, Estée Lauder ventured into a modern and sophisticated look for Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick casing design. It is definitely something new and different for the company. Now, once again Estée Lauder goes into the same design direction and came out with this new compact design for the complementing eyeshadow palette. It defines modern, sleek, simple and elegant. The gold lining on the side defines powerful but yet the overall casing still maintain it’s feminine. Navy is also Estée Lauder’s corporate color so you will see everything of the brand in navy color, including this palette. The case is made of navy mirrored compact with Estée Lauder embossed logo on the bottom middle of the casing. This reflects the signature color cues of the brand. The new casing design also feature an innovative, magnetic closure. I absolutely love anything that are with magnetic closure and so there will be no more wrestling with the palette 😀
Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Color Palette is a new collection designed for ultimate versatility. All 12 palettes are made with dramatic and rich hues while accentuated with nudes for the ease in creating a perfect framed and shaped look.
In total there are 12 different palettes to choose from. The one you see here is Fierce Safari. Judging from the name itself I already can tell what the shades are going to be even before opening the palette to see. Moss Green may send most of you away especially nude lovers but I, I have a love for out of the norm. Before I ventured into nude shades, I’m all about green, blue and purple. So I’m not even a bit worried to work with Fierce Safari. In fact, Fierce Safari brings me back to ground and reminds me once again why I’m into color eyeshadow.
Without any doubt, this is a 5-color eyeshadow palette. Many people told me before they only use two colors at maximum and they have no idea how to use all five colors or how to incorporate all five colors together into a single look. Truth to be told, I actually need SEVEN colors for a single look lol!
From what I see, this palette comes with just three tone family. The lighter shades is to lift and illuminate, while the mid-tones is to shape and contour. The deeper tone is to define with a smoky allure. Each one of the shade is made carefully with a mix of modern tones and textures. On swatch, they are velvety soft to touch, none flakey or powdery, creamy and easy to blend too.
Here are the swatch on my hand. All colors are easy to swatch except for no. 5. For some reason this particular color is a tough cookie and it took me a few swatch to get it on my hand.
No. 1 – A creamy satin true gold color. I usually used this on the inner 1/4 of my lid.
No. 2 – A pearl white suitable for brow bone highlight and as tear duct highlight. This shade is the less shimmery of all five.
No. 3 – A velvety dark gold color. It is similar to No. 1 but more satin, less shimmery, more darker and more intense in color payoff.
No. 4 – A matte dark brown with fine shimmer bits. It an unique brown as the color reflects to a satin shade on different angle.
No. 5 – A beautiful, intense moss green that is buttery smooth and velvety. It leans more towards the brown hue than to green.
What’s an eyeshadow palette review without a tutorial from me right? I’m sorry but I have to use My Everyday Look Tutorial for this palette because that’s how I do it and that’s how you can too use all five colors from the palette 😀 . In this tutorial, I’m going to use a total of seven colors, two which I’ll adopt from other palette 🙂 . The tutorial will be based on the below shades and numbering ya 🙂
(1) I always start with an eye makeup primer as I have oily lid. Then Use a “bone” shade and swipe all over the lid. This will remove the primer stickiness and makes blending easier later on.
(2) Take a tapered blending brush and dip into a warm chocolate shade. I refer this as the transition shade. You don’t have to use eyeshadow for this. Bronzer works just as good because bronzer naturally are more warm and muddy. Perfect for the crease!
(3) Take a fluffy blending brush and dip onto No. 3 shade. Blend on top of transition shade.
(4) Use the same blending brush, drip onto No. 4, which is a moss green and apply slightly below No. 3 shade and make an U on the outer crease. Usually I went 3/4 into the crease leaving the front 1/4 alone.
(5) Apply the gold shade No. 1 onto the empty lid. This is mainly the 1/4 of the inner lid. I use finger for this. It’s faster 🙂
(6) Take a clean blending brush and blend out any harsh line. You will find blending is so much easier thanks to the bone color and transition shade applied earlier. Normally I just take the tapered blending brush used earlier for transition shade and blend using the remaining shadow on the brush. That way I don’t lose any color. And I like the warm shade on the crease.
(7) Apply No. 2 pearl white onto the brow bone as highlight.
(8) Lastly, apply No. 5 onto the outer bottom eyelash and No. 2 onto the inner bottom eyelash. Highlight tear duct using No. 2 as well.
(9) *Not in picture* Clean the leftover shadow using Estée Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter.
Here is the finishing look. I skipped eyeliner this time around as I was also photographing for the 3rd Estée Lauder product review. I didn’t intensify the eyeshadow (I probably should) so the payoff is very subtle, suitable for everyday office wear.
Thanks to my #typicalasianchineseeyes, it is more visible when I half close my eyes lol. My favourite color of all would be the moss green shade. It’s gorgeous! I can just swipe that shade alone all over my lid, blend the crease with a warm brown shade as transition color and I’m ready to go to work.
All Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow are designed to be used either dry or wet. Apply it dry as normal for a creamy plush look or apply it with a wet brush for a high-couture impact payoff. I have not tried it wet yet because #funfact I can’t really see what I’m doing at 6am in the morning plus I am very satisfied with just the way it is. Despite the shadow being extremely creamy and velvety, it doesn’t crease on my oily lid at all. It lasted from 6am until 10pm on me. That’s the latest I reached home when using this palette. You may find it to be a little bit too satin sheen but in real when you step out of the house, you will find that the shade is not as shimmery as you thought it would be.
Not a fan of gold or green? No problem! Estée Lauder offered a whopping 12 different palette selection to choose from. Among the 12 palette, majority of them are neutral. I really applaud Estée Lauder for the new packaging as it’s sleek, simple and sophisticated that I’m not embarrassed to whip it out in public 😀 . The pigmentation is just nice with no fall out. The texture is not even powdery to begin with. Most importantly to me is the shadow’s ability to blend. Like I said earlier, I can’t see what I do in the morning so usually I just simply apply and blend. To my surprise, I always walk out of the house with the perfect eye-do. There was no imbalance nor did I miss a spot from blending. It’s so easy to blend, even in the dark lol.
I mentioned at the beginning of the review that this Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Color Palette was designed to complement the Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick. I left a comment this morning and when I check back it’s not there =(. I always like to see your eyeshadow tutorial but 7 colour? ohmaigawd Fiona :P. I like how the crease is looking chocolatey warm^^
Oppss. Must be a bug or glitch. Sorry babe. It’s something that is out of my control. I used to use four but now I’ve added two crucial step at the beginning. I sometimes skip the darkest shade hehe 🙂
Oh the warm crease is crucial lol. The trick works very well although not mainly practise by everyone locally. Try it!
Woah!! I really like your tutorial! Maybe you can have these kind of tutorial more often!! The eyeshadow really stand out but don’t look fierce or too strong at the same time.
Thanks Melissa! 😀
I’m already doing more haha. I’m kinda obsessed with using multiple color at the same time. It’s therapeutic.
Hi Fiona! What shade would you recommend if I were to replace the shade for step 5?
You can either leave it as it is. The ‘bone’ shade applied earlier will peep through like the one in step 4. Otherwise use anything that is light shade or shimmery. I usually go for satin white. That will bring out the look 🙂
Awesome make-up! Love the shades. Swatches look a little ordinary but you transformed them into such beautiful eye make-up. Well done girl 🙂
Thanks. I look weird without the eyeliner haha. I took 3 review photos at the same time and the last product is related to eyelashes so eyeliner is not feasible. I wish I did this with a long, thick winged eyeliner 🙂
Hehe, still look good nonetheless. May I know how is the staying power and which eye makeup primer that you are using? I am considering ZOEVA after reading your review. It is constantly out of stock via Luxola. Then I thought of Too Faced or Urban Decay 🙂
Staying powder is great. Lasted the whole day without creasing on me. I used Zoeva eye primer and sometimes MAC Paint Pot. Urban Decay doesn’t work on me. You can try UD because they have deluxe size for sale near the cashier counter 😀
Hello Fiona! I really love your tutorial! Thank you for all the efforts! 😀
Thanks dear. Playing around with eyeshadow palette is my fav. Next round I do a thick and long winged eyeliner ya lol
I need that very badly!! Can’t wait for it! 😀
What app did you use to number the eyeshadows? Great makeup tutorials!!!
Thanks Felicia. I used Photoshop. The numbers are just a font 🙂
