I’m an avid follower of Youtuber Tati so when she posted up a video on The Christopher Kane for NARS Summer 2015 Collection earlier in May, I said to myself that I got to check it out for the most obvious reason first of all – the bright fuchsia pink print against NARS signature black casing. Unexpectedly, Traclyn extended her preview invite to me and so both of us went to the new NARS store at Mid Valley to check out the new collection 🙂
First thing first, the limited edition collection named as NEONEUTRAL is not a huge array of product release, which was much to my relieve. Even though so, the collection is complete enough for the whole look, which again much to my relieve and I was pleasantly pleased.
The Christopher Kane for NARS Summer 2015 Collection collaboration came about where Christopher Kane and NARS were London Fashion Week collaborators since 2012. Both of them share a passion for vivid colors amplified by unconventional creativity. The limited edition NEONEUTRAL collection consists of unexpected shades and formulas, which was inspired by the nature of neon and the nude shades that complement them. From this collection you will be surprised with Christopher Kane’s unexpected, edgy design aesthetic which coincide perfectly with NARS’ iconic and bold beauty philosophy. It’s the first fashion collaboration to feature a full line of Eyeshadows of a Duo and a Single, two Blushes, a Illuminating Multiples, and four Lip Glosses shades.
The Christopher Kane for NARS Collection: Lip Gloss (RM95)
Lip glosses are not my most favourite makeup product of all. I have heard nothing but good reviews when it comes to NARS lip glosses. These lip glosses are unscented and non-sticky (yay!). However to take note that the whole collection comes with sheer payoff despite the striking shades and hues.
In this collection, there are four shades – Nebulous (neon coral), Mezmer (sheer neon pink), Glow Pink (sheer fuchsia) and Nucleus (seashell pink). Don’t let the orange, pink, purple and beige scared you off. They goes on the lips quite natural looking much to my surprise. For someone who’s not into lip gloss, I barely feel anything on my lips at all. It lasted throughout the whole day, with food and coffee mug sipping 😀
The most pigmented of all four would be Nebulous (coral) and Mezmer (pink). I got Glow Pink and it went on my lip as pink as Mezmer, which you’ll see towards the end of this post. Hand swatches usually are quite tricky but on the lips it’s a totally different story.
The Christopher Kane for NARS Collection: Illuminating Multiple (RM154)
NARS multiple stick are known to be used for contouring and as blush, depending on whether you opt for the brown shade or the pinkish shade. This Violet Atom Illuminating Multiple however can be used on the eyes as eyeshadow base or as eyeshadow, as highlight on the cheekbones and nose bridge or on the lips as highlight. It’s a cream product that goes on and finishes to powder texture.
Despite being an iridescent purplish shade, Violet Atom, unlike the name goes on sheer. Still has that violet hint to it but it’s sheer enough not to notice it on the skin. When light hits, it’s absolutely gorgeous. It looks like the face is illuminating by itself without much effort. If you don’t tell, no one will know it was actually NARS Illuminating Multiple 🙂
The Christopher Kane for NARS Collection: Blush (RM128)
I must say I’m most excited with the blush in the collection, not the pink but the beige. NARS described the whole collection with “unexpected shades” so accurately that I think the blush and the eyeshadow shades blew my mind completely.
I like that there are two completely different blush shade available. Both shade catering to two completely different category of users. Starscape, a neon pink blush is more of a ‘safe’ shade, which goes on every skin type. It’s a shade that I would choose anytime but this time round I had my eyes on Silent Nude, a soft beige shade. Silent Nude is not a shade for everyone. I believe most people would not even take a second look at it because it’s just a nude shade. I, on the other hand fall head over heels for it.
Let’s take a minute and let the sight of these gorgeous packaging sink in. I love pink 🙂
Silent Nude can be used as eyeshadow as well and I especially like it as crease transition shade. I mainly used Silent Nude as blush and contour. Great if you are too lazy to apply blush separately. You may be wondering why I like Silent Nude and not Starscape. Well, I like that it’s ‘there but not quite there’. I had the makeup artist applied Silent Nude on me after removing all my blush and I fall even deeper in the love hole. No kidding. Then I also tried Starscape, lightly brush on the apples of the cheeks. Silent Nude with Starscape on top is a perfect combination.
The Christopher Kane for NARS Collection: Duo Eyeshadow (RM128) and Single Eyeshadow (RM98)
Again, living to the collection’s unexpected shades and formulas claim, NARS came out with a duo and a single. Both exceptionally shimmery. Not for the weak hearted. Me? I’m the discoball girl 😀
Contrary to the people’s favourite, I find myself falling for the opposite. Again. Parallel Universe, the duo eyeshadow which consists of an iridescent pink lilac shade and a soft iridescent violet is my favourite. Purple happen to be one of my favourite eyeshadow shade and this iridescent violet is not very pigmented and dark so it’s suitable for everyday use.
Outer Limits is not hard to love. The iridescent rose gold is a versatile shade to use and even on it’s own. Great for those who are not into shadow layering. Just a swipe of this and you’re good to go.
Look at how gorgeous Parallel Universe are! The shimmer bits doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. No tearing during the makeover. However, it can be very very sheer. The makeup artist applied it over Illuminating Multiple Violet Atom and the colour just popped out. It is also suggested to work with these shadow using finger. The warmth of the finger will be able to grab the powder and adhere it onto the lid better. If you must use a brush, use a flat shader brush, spray some makeup setting spray and apply onto the lid using dabbing method. Both eyeshadows are buttery smooth, which is a staple for NARS eyeshadow.
I have recreated my own personal everyday look using a few Christopher Kane for NARS Collection products.
I wore this Glow Pink Lip Gloss out to coffee a few days ago and the girl taking my order told me she love the lip gloss I had on. It’s the first time someone randomly told me so! 😀
Here is the complete look! (Of me adjusting my bangs lol). I loveeee Silent Nude Blush. You can see the blush there and it also seems like I don’t have it. The shade suits my skin tone very much. Head over heels for it.
Glow Pink Lip Gloss on the other hand is a sheer fuchsia shade so despite being sheer payoff, it actually appears prominently on my lips. I also dab (a lot) Illuminating Multiple Violet Atom on the center of my lips to make them stands out more 😛
I like Illuminating Multiple Violet Atom for the nose bridge, upper cheekbone highlight, as eyeshadow base and as lip highlights but I’m not liking it as eyeshadow alone as it creases and makes my eyeliner creamy and printed on the top lid lol. It’s nasty. But if I top it with Parallel Universe Duo Eyeshadow on top of it, none of the creasing happens. Unfortunately I don’t have any of the eyeshadow from the collection so the multiple will have to do it 🙂
Did any of the product from NARS x Christopher Kane collection caught your eyes? I’m usually a safe person when it comes to new makeup or makeup in general especially new collection. I was surprised with myself this time round as I fall for everything that is so not me LOL. It all work out good and I’m extremely pleased with Silent Nude 🙂 . I know, I know. I can’t stop talking about Silent Nude.

Appreciate that you recreated a look with some of the products. Lovely. I was looking forward to the eyeshadow review from you :(. I think I still prefer the pink blush. I can see why you love the nude brown blush. It looked like bronzer on you and your cheeks suits the shade very much 😀
My pleasure. I’m glad you like it. I didn’t get the eyeshadow dear. Sorry! I’d love the eyeshadow duo as it has purple. My favourite colour 🙂 . I have protruding cheeks so the shade stands out more on me. Furthermore I layer the shade to make it look like contour + blush. Absolutely beautiful.
Makeup looked lovely on you. Silent Nude is not for darker skin tone. It won’t show up. On you I can see it clearly. It double up as blush for you. Unique.
I have to agree with you. Silent Nude would not be suitable for those with darker skin tone. I always use it as blush on me besides a light contouring 🙂
