Clarins Values Day Is All About Making Life More Beautiful For Children

What I love about Clarins is their annual We Care initiative in bringing a better life for the community in need. This year, Clarins Malaysia held a Clarins Values Day and every of their employees took a day off and headed to the Orang Asli children of Pusat Pengalak Pembaca Batu 12 Gombak, a pre-school, Gombak to restore and refurbished a previously abandoned playground for the children. Mind you this playground was abandoned for more than 15 years!

This is the state of the abandoned playground before restoration by the employees of Clarins Malaysia.

During the recent product launch, Grace the PR & Communications Manager of Clarins said something that I strongly agree. A pre-school without a playground for the children to play and roams around during recess is not acceptable. A playground is important for the children to have their short play during recess as it helps to build a child’s brain growth. Playground free play allows children to play any way they choose, supported by a wide range of structures and spaces. It builds interaction and friendship among the children besides skills and attributes such as balancing, agility, muscle strength, strategic thinking and gross motor skills.

Pusat Pengalak Pembaca Batu 12 Gombak is a non-profit pre-school that operates by JAKOA (Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli). There are about 30 children age between 3-6 years old studying in this pre-school. This time around Clarins collaborated with Biji-Biji, an organization that aimed to minimize carbon footprint through the use of green technology, waste management methods and creative ways to reuse trash.

In total, about 20 employees from Clarins Malaysia office cleared their busy schedule for a day at the pre-school and repainted all the play equipment which include tyre rocker, monkey bar, cylinders and slides. To make things more challenging, it was the hottest time of the year for Malaysia. Oh yes we all remember that scorching hot weather.
