My Clarins “Unused” Stash

If you’re wondering how many Clarins product that is currently taking up the whole drawer in my cabinet, here’s a look at my “unused” stash. Yes, I have a drawer dedicated for Clarins haha. Next time I’ll do a rundown on the stash which I’m currently using.

Clarins One Utama Newly Renovated Counter

Earlier this year, Jusco One Utama was closed to undergo renovation for 6 months and finally it was reopened on 22nd August 2011.

I have visited Fennie (Clarins 1U Counter Manager) early September and her new counter fascinated me very much. It was huge, clean and bright but there’s too many “entrance” and tester stand which is rather confusing and hard to take care. On duty BA will need to be extra alert and constantly looking around to keep an eye on the tester stand. Apart from that, counter cleaning would also be hectic. There’s so many tester stand around and the number of testers on each stand is not a joke. Nevertheless it’s a nice counter. I never felt uncomfortable everytime I went there. Frankly speaking I prefer this huge counter than those small one as I get to explore and walk around more.

On my birthday, I dropped by Jusco One Utama and I managed to take a few spy shots.

Clarins Malaysia had brought in Autumn 2011 makeup collection. Unfortunately the stocks are not available yet at the time I’m there. I’m sure by now the stock had arrived. Do check with your favourite BA and counter on the availability ya. But what’s exciting for me is that the testers are still new and untouched! Which makes the perfect picture below.

I took some time off from work and headed to Isetan Anniversary Sales on Friday morning. The first day usually is closed for Isetan members. I was told there’s a Paul & Joe and Anna Sui further markdown 2 weeks ago and I was really excited. I go in from Ground Floor and went straight up to 4th floor at “The Gallery” where the cosmetic and fragrance fair is held. Here’s my damage.

I didn’t know where Paul & Joe counter is at so I took my time to browse around for other stuff and then I saw them. My target is to get lipstick, eyeshadow, 2-way foundation but there’s no single lipstick or eyeshadow for sale. Everything is packed in a set and we can’t choose the lipstick or lip gloss colour that are in the set. I was delighted to see that Paul & Joe Protective Dual Powder Foundation UV Set selling at RM158 which comes with a free refill and lip gloss. Next I decided to grab Paul & Joe Face Color & Lip Gloss Coffret Set for RM109.

The set comes with Face Color C (blusher), Lip Gloss C (tri-color), fur wand for face color & a cute drawstring satin pouch!
Face Color C is actually powder balls just like Guerlain’s. I never have this before so I got it anyway eventhough RM109 to me is kinda expensive considering the items in the set is very little and I don’t like/wear lip gloss.
Drawstring satin pouch is made from thick satin material which doesn’t feel flimsy at all. It’s kinda cute too 🙂

The most value for money and anticipated purchase for me is this Paul & Joe Protective Dual Powder Foundation UV Set which comes with a retail compact, refill pack and a Lip Gloss N. All that for RM158. The compact itself costs RM150. Basically I just add RM8 for the refill and lip gloss! LOL.

I moved over to Anna Sui for mascara but they only offer 30% off from retail price which is not really a lot saving if I were to compare with all the counter there. So I moved to Shiseido counter and managed to grabbed MAQuillAGE Full Vision Mascara #BK999 for RM40 and two Eye Color N which is eyeshadow base for RM17.50 each. When I checked the mascara the next morning, to my horror the mascara is all dried up. So I brought it along with me the next day (yes I went again with my colleague) and ask for an exchange. I was told straight to my face that they don’t allow exchange. I screamed a lil to her saying that I bought a mascara from them, it’s dried up and I can’t exchange? She said yes they don’t allow exchange. I repeated myself again this time with a hard tone and she said she’d ask from another colleague. I overheard her colleague saying to her that they must exchange for me and I was relieved. When the lady came back to me with an answer, she told me to choose another item. I was so annoyed. I insist that I want a mascara and she said it’s sold out. AIYO. SAY SO LA EARLIER. The lady didn’t even mentioned about sold out. She just blindly ask me to choose another item. So I chose a blusher for an exchange with the same price. Phew. Long story huh.

This is the exact colour. Not as light as above picture. This applies to be more natural. Not too white or too pinky.

I was happy to see Majolica Majorca there as well. I skipped their eyeshadow which is dirt cheap comparing with drugstore. I only grabbed two Lash Gorgeous Wing mascara for RM29.90 each.

Next. I walked down to Ground Floor to Clarins counter to get HydraQuench Starter Kit which is selling at RM78. This is very similar to Truly Matte Best Busy Set. Only missing a cleanser.

On the second day, I constrain myself from spending but curious about Kate Nail Color Dry so I bought one to try. It’s to fasten the drying process of nail polish. It’s only RM12.

Remember on my birthday 29th Sep I joined Clarins Test Your Hydration Knowledge Facebook contest and I’m one of the winner?

I received email from Clarins on Thursday that my prize is ready to be collected. Wow that was fast. Only 1 week.

I chose Metrojaya Mid Valley as the pick-up point as it’d be nearer to me. So I dropped by Mid Valley around 10.30am on Friday while on the way to Isetan Lot 10. The BA who attended to my collection brought out the gift and a paper bag for me. She took out the gift and show me what I have won. We are only told that we won a HydraQuench gift set worth RM180 but last week I secretly asked the nice girl at Clarins HQ what the gift set is. So I roughly knew in advance what I’m getting 🙂

Clarins Review: Skin Care Skin Care - Face Mist

Review: Clarins Aqua Essence Morning Energy

Somewhere in July a kind reader sent me a Clarins Aqua Essence Morning Energy 10ml after reading about my love for Clarins products. Thank you! It’s good to try out a deluxe sample before buying the full size product 🙂 I’ve been using the sample for near to 2 weeks before purchasing a full size product.

What Clarins said in their website are that the mist is the first step to a fresh, healthy glow in the morning. It contains Green Coffee which revives skin while Red Current hydrates and softens. An invigorating lotion based on plant extracts that revives skin’s radiance. Applied before daily skin care, it restores the fresh radiance of toned skin which glows with youthful vitality.

So, I’d assume this is a “pre-serum” and since it said use before daily skin care. . . I’m using this mist after cleansing and toner. It’s kinda waste if I follow the instruction from Clarins website which is before cleansing and daily moisturiser.

The ingredients:
Green Coffee: stimulating Ginseng: when combined with Green Coffee, re-energises skin which appears more supple and toned. Red Current: moisturises and softens skin making it appear smoother. White Tea: protects against free radicals to preserve the skin’s youthfulness.

The essence comes in a frosty glass container which makes me very happy holding it. It feels heavy on hand and looks huge too 🙂

The nozzle spray is a stylish, sturdy gold make. The essence sprayed out perfectly onto my face. It’s a bliss every morning.

The colour of the essence is in orange colour but don’t worry this will make you look orangey. Once the essence is dispensed out it appears clear.

After using it for a few weeks every morning, I couldn’t see any major changes. Of course. This is just a pre-serum to prepare the skin for skin cares and makeups. But it did freshen my skin and my face look more “waken up”. At least I don’t look dull every morning 😛

Retail Price: RM155 for 100ml

Pros:
1) Prep the skin for skin cares and makeups.
2) Freshen and wake up the skin.
3) Lightweight and smells nice.
4) One bottle last quite long.

Cons:
1) A bit costly for a facial mist.
