Tips: How to Clean Your Dirty Brush

How often do you clean and wash your dirty makeup brush?

I clean my daily eyeshadow brush everyday with Mac Brush Cleanser and deep cleansing once a week. As for the larger brush like finishing brush (also known as skunk brush) and face brush, I’m only deep cleansing it once every 2 weeks. Reason being is that the brush needed at least 2 days to dry and if it’s a rainy day I’m doomed lol.

There has been many questions on how to dry the brushes after washing ’em. I mean the proper way to do it. Do we lay it flat, hang it near the window, use a hair dryer, put it back to brush holder, towel dry and many more. I find myself in that dilemma too a few years ago until I found the best way for me.

I’m finally able to do this tips post when my larger brushes needed some “bath” last weekend. It’s not very dirty but it’s still dirty after using it everyday for the past 2 weeks.

Here’s the victim. As you can see from the picture below, the white bristles on the skunk brush is now in beige color.

Ecotools

EcoTools® by Alicia Silverstone

Yesterday morning I drove all the way from Kajang to Mid Valley as I wanted to drop by Shins to check out their EcoTools® brushes and perhaps to buy a set or two.

All the time I’m working at Mid Valley and passed by Shins countless time but never stepped in and check out the products. I do however notice all the EcoTools® brushes as the display is facing the main entrance. You won’t miss it if you are passing by.

I’m glad I went to Shins! I had the best shopping experience compared with Sasa (not that I go Sasa that much) but Shins is far more better! I was entertained by Ben Lim and he is very friendly, chatty and well verse in what he do and the best part is he have the knowledge on brushes and on EcoTools®. If you hate BA that is quiet, non-suggestive and with black face then fret not. All Shins BA is opposite of that. I was flipping, touching and taking most of the EcoTools® brushes for closer look and Ben allows me to do that. He never once show me unhappy face. I really appreciate that freedom of browsing very much. Afterall EcoTools® is not cheap. I wanted to be sure of which set to get. But of course I make sure I put back everything at it’s original place.

My initial plan is to get the Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set which would cost me RM88 and I found out there’s a same set but it came with a bamboo cup (brush holder) which cost the same too. You know I can get pretty indecisive with multiple selection and Ben suggested to get the Limited Edition of EcoTools® by Alicia Silverstone. After a quick consideration, I decided to jump on Ben’s suggestion. Why? Because most beauty blogger in Malaysia would be getting the usual 6 piece or 5 piece set so I wanted to be different. EcoTools® by Alicia Silverstone is not something that everyone own!

Some fact on EcoTools®.

As EcoTools® brushes are 100% cruelty-free and earth-friendly, I decided to take the pictures in my dad’s flower garden.

Here’s the gorgeous EcoTools® by Alicia Silverstone Brush Set. Everything included in the set is viewable from the clear plastic window of the box.

How to check if your Ecotools brush set is fake?

Disclaimer: This post will be a long post with lots of pictures. It may and will contain vulgar words. Do not read on if you feel offended.

real-fake
I am so damn pissed off since yesterday night that I couldn’t sleep. I make sure I get off bed early today just to blog about this. From the post title you could have guessed that it has something to do with Ecotools brushes. This will be a long post because I need to condemn the idiot seller who self-proclaimed herself as someone who “studied law” (dear seller, do you even know who am I???), I need to show you the authentic vs fake Ecotools as well as my conversation with the stupid cum idiot seller who is trying to twist and turn things because she thought I’m stupid too! Good try stupid seller!

Exactly on Tuesday I ordered a 5-pc and 6-pc brush set from a seller in LYN who contacted me earlier in Dec’11 upon seeing my “what to find” forum post. This seller’s ID is sharon1604. She replied promptly but coldly and I made my payment immediately after confirming what there is needed to be confirmed. The next thing you know. She went poof. I pm-ed her again the next morning thinking my parcel is already packed, ready to be sent out but instead she replied she will send the next day. WTF?? So this is the 3rd warning alarm that this seller is not authentic. The next day she still haven’t pm me the delivery status and provide me my parcel tracking number so I pm-ed her again on the status. Still no reply I pm-ed her again. She didn’t bother to reply anything even. I could see her last online time and she did went online for a few times. She just didn’t bother to reply my message. Alright. This is the 4th warning alarm that there’s something not right about this seller. I told my mum to keep an eye on the PosLaju man and if there’s no parcel arriving, I’m gonna screw her upside down. As she have another selling thread, I post to that thread and she immediately she pm-ed me. Maybe that’s her “rice bowl” thread so she replied my pm-ed. Twice. My mum called me in the evening saying the parcel arrived. Okay. I have 2 concern at the beginning; is the seller a cheater, is the brush set authentic? By that time I have one less concern and I have one big concern on the authenticity.
