SEPHORA Malaysia relaunched its Loyalty Program with the introduction of SEPHORA Black Card

Two days ago I received a SEPHORA newsletter and the title ‘You’ve Been BLACKLISTED’ gave me a shock, thinking what have I done that I’m blacklisted by SEPHORA. It turns out that SEPHORA is relaunching their Loyalty Program with the introduction of SEPHORA Black Card. Now, that’s one catchy heart pumping title that can make any beautyholic clicking into their email in a split second.

I was invited over to SEPHORA Sunway Pyramid to get blacklisted and at the same time enjoying all the benefits and activities as a SEPHORA member. It’s kinda exciting for me because all these while I only zoom into SEPHORA to buy something that I want and then zoom out. I have no idea there is so much activities happening in the store from time to time. So let’s follow me as I see it through the eyes of a SEPHORA member.

MAKE UP FOR EVER as the color expert in the makeup industry decided to revamp their brand’s iconic product. What seems to be just a normal uplift is not just any ordinary uplift as the brand recently launched a staggering 210 shades of Artist Shadow. Yes! 210 huge, big pan of eye shadow! After spending three years developing a whole new range of eye shadows, Dany Sanz the Creater and Artistic Director of MAKE UP FOR EVER could have come out with 500 shades but it wasn’t her goal. She wanted to offer a profusion, which is not to be confused with ‘too much’. It took the brand three years to perfect the quality of these shadows with the help of new technology. Clarins Make Up - Face Review: Make Up

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact: Perfect contour color for the hairline, too muddy for cheekbones

I may be setting my foot into Clarins for their skin care line but Clarins do come out with impressive makeup line over the years. Clarins company in Malaysia used to carry both skin care line and makeup line until two years ago where the company decided to pull out their makeup line from every other normal counters and only a few high traffic counters is still selling the makeup line. However, these available counters will only be selling existing best selling products like foundations and lipsticks. The company doesn’t have the intention to bring in new shades, new collection or limited edition. It’s rather disappointing as this is the time I’m really into makeup. It’s even more disappointing when international Clarins releases super gorgeous limited edition piece such as this Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact. Well, it’s suppose to be limited edition but I still see this item for sale online. Mine is made in 2012 judging from the batch code and I only bought this a few months ago…in 2014! Not so limited edition after all 😛

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact
The truth is, even if Clarins Malaysia is still bringing in new makeup collection, I doubt they will bring this Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact in. Let’s face it. We Malaysians are just not into bronzing or contouring the face. We lived in an Asian country that are into having the fairest skin of all, not the other way round. Being an Asian Chinese and being someone that is constantly catching up to the international trend (I do mean rebellious), I finally realized why Caucasians like to contour and warm up their complexion. The face structure indeed look more dimensional with chiseled cheekbones and jawline. I am totally hooked! You can read about how I contour my face at this link 😀

Metal mirrored vanity tray for the ever growing collection of fragrances

I was in the dilemma if I should talk about this now or I should put it in my September Favourites. As you already know my monthly favourites will not have any item that I’ve mentioned before in the blog. After a whirlwind search on the perfect tray for my perfume collection, I thought this tray deserve it’s own standalone shoutout 😀 .

The idea came when Paris B of MyWomenStuff posted a question on her Instagram asking if we store perfumes in boxes or display the pretty bottles. I’ve always been the one who keep all perfume in it’s original box because I wouldn’t want to display it out and clean the dust off all the time. I keep all the perfume behind my vanity table’s sliding mirror compartment and I will only take one bottle out to use on a weekly basis. This organisation has been working out fine for me. Well, that was before I reshuffled all the furniture in my room and now my bed frame is blocking the sliding mirror making it a challenge for me to take my perfume out.

Fragrance Tray 1
Initially what I pictured in my mind would be a cake platter/stand/tray or whatever you call it. In my mind I’ve always wanted a white flat top cake stand within the RM30 budget. If searching for the white one is near impossible, I can do floral on white surface and if that too is impossible to find, I can make peace with clear stand. You are seeing this means I wasn’t able to find any of those and then I had my heart on this metal mirrored vanity tray while on the hunt for what I initially wanted.

Burt's Bees Review: Skin Care Skin Care - Lips

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tin: When anger turns to hate before turning into love. This is by far one of the best lip balm I’ve used!

A few years ago I bought a copy of Marie Claire April 2011 as it comes with a tube of Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I have heard so much rave on the lip balm so I bought it. Maybe the tube I had had gone bad or whatsoever because it taste awful and I totally dislike the dry texture. I threw that away and never went back to Burt’s Bees for their highly raved lip balm. Earlier this year, I needed a new lip balm for night time so I went to Sephora to look for one and decided to give Burt’s Bees a second chance. I bought Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tin.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm comes in two type of packaging, the normal tube or the one in a small metal tin. My room is quite hot in the mid day and most lip balm I had melted with such heat circulating in the room. I figure I would like the one that comes in a small tin. Plus it’s cute so why not 😀

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is the original lip balm that’s been around since 1991. This small tin contain 8.5g of product while the tube only contain 4.25g of product. Price wise, it’s the same. I bought the tin version for RM22 while the tube version cost RM22 as well. RM22 may sound like a hefty price to pay for just a lip balm comparing to drugstore brand that only cost slightly over RM10 for a 4.5g, isn’t it?
