I have never been lucky with makeup setting spray (read here and here), what more a matte finish long lasting setting spray. It is quite hard to find NYX Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray at Sephora as it is always sold out. You know what people say, when it’s hard to find, you would want it badly. When I finally managed to track it down, I bought it in a split second. I figure what have I got to lose since it is cheaper and it was the Sephora Black Card member private sale.
There are two variant of makeup setting spray within NYX. One is this Matte Finish (or Matte Shine-Free Finish according to NYX website) while the other one is Dewy Finish (or Dewy Glow Finish). I can be quite an oil slick by mid day so Dewy Finish is a definite no-no for me. I remember Shaaanxo from YouTube mention before that she love this stuff. If Shaaanxo likes it, I would too. Boo! Wrong thinking 😛
I’ve never been a fan of any pencil eyeliner at all. I gave up on pencil eyeliner a few years ago after wasting money on countless brands that never fail to smudge on me. Ever since I started watching YouTube, I notice that quite a number of beauty guru prefer pencil eyeliner than liquid eyeliner. It is understandable due to skin type and weather differences. So why are you reading this if I’ve given up on pencil eyeliner, eh? The story goes like this. I went back to work not too long ago and since it’s a different office environment, I no longer have the privilege to do my makeup in the office. So I have to rush everything in the morning and doing a precise eyeliner using a liquid pen is too time consuming for me especially when I’m doing my makeup in a dark room.
Today I’m going to share with you my favourite pencil eyeliners, tips, tricks and three different application method that you can master too.
I have oily lid so kohl or normal pencil eyeliner will not work on my lid. The only two brands and type that I find doesn’t smudge on me are Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner and MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes. I bought these from their 2014 holiday collection but fret not, these are permanent so you can get it from Sephora anytime.
Frequent visitors of our local drugstores will notice the new addition to the lip balm section. The all-NEW Chu Lip Lip Balm is a fun, unique and uber cute way of applying lip balm. I squealed in excitement when I saw this cute pink peach shape-alike lip balm.
The word ‘Chu’ comes from Japanese, which means kiss. Chu Lip lip balm is available in four colours – Pink, Red, Purple and Green. Each of it is infused with different unique secret blend of fragrance. However, all of them bears the same formulation for moisturizing ingredients of Olive Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil and Rose Hip Oil.
After posting up my 20 Must-Watch YouTube Beauty Channels, I ended up discovering more YouTube channels that I like. Because I watch a lot of the same YouTubers most of the time, I actually refer to my own 20 Must-Watch YouTube Beauty Channels blog post as a reference daily to check if there’s new videos. I know I know. I should subscribe to these girls instead of checking them everyday. But I enjoyed doing so. So at the mean time I will still want to check their channel daily. Because I use my previous blog post as a reference and I’m getting old with lack of memory to remember the rest of the channels which I just discovered, I thought I should do a part 2. I discovered Nikkie from Desi Perkins channel. Oh boy I love this girl so much! She is funny, as real as she can be and she has great personality. Her makeup is always flawless and beautiful. I learnt a lot from Nikkie too. You gotta watch her channel to know what I’m talking about.
Primers are what deemed as optional product. Some people don’t think it’s necessary while some like me couldn’t live without primer for the face and for the eyes. My skin goes through ups and downs. Sometimes I had makeup meltdown and sometimes it’s as fresh as applied in the morning. It drives me crazy!
As I said before in my On The Rocks Holiday Collection, Smashbox is the least talk about brand. The only time I heard or saw Smashbox is either on Photo Finish Lid Primer or Full Exposure Palette. But the most talk about is still their wide range of primers. Overall there are a total of 10 primers within the brand, eight of them is face primer while two is lid primer and under eye primer.
