With holiday office parties, white elephant exchanges and events with our friends and families in the works, you’ll want to make sure you look your best in the upcoming months. Take a look at these holiday beauty tips to ensure you’re party ready.
Skincare
The holidays are a time to indulge, and when it’s comes to beauty, you’ll want to indulge in good skin care specialist in order to keep your skin in the best shape possible. Estheticians are specialized skin experts and can help evaluate your skin to determine your skin type. They can then tell you what types of products will help or cause damage, providing you valuable advice about what actually causes acne. An esthetician can determine how to best create a regular skincare regime that works with any particular skin ailments and medications a doctor has prescribed. Depending on your individual needs, estheticians can also perform customized facials to help those with dehydrated skin (from dry, winter weather, one too many cocktails and not enough water) rebalance their skin’s moisture balance. Most specialists will also tell you that in order to maintain a healthy performance it’s best to schedule an appointment every three months and when the season changes. Give yourself an early Christmas present and see a skilled esthetician to get clearer skin as soon as possible.
Makeup
If ever there were a time to get glam, Christmas season is it. Break out of your usual go-tos and try something a little bit different. Try applying a glitter liner (if you don’t have glitter liner on hand, you can also take a small brush and use a bit of gold eyeshadow) and apply it over your regular, black liner for an extra bit of holiday sparkle, or, consider finally giving that winged liner look a try. The classic, smoky eye is a great look for the holidays as well, and the good news is, it doesn’t have to be complicated. To create a quick-and-dirty smoky eye that looks as beautiful as it is effortless, wipe a cream shadow across your eyelids and under the bottom lashes… just one step and you’re set! Or, if you’re looking for a bit more shimmer, try using an illuminator or translucent, glimmering shadow on your eyelids and cheekbones for an iridescent glow. If all else fails, a bold, red lip is always a winner — just make sure to keep your eyes and cheeks understated.
Hair
If you’re thinking of dressing up your hair for the holidays, consider trying a braided high pony. Simply start with blow drying it straight (no need to perfectly smooth) and then pull all of your hair into a high ponytail and begin a simple, three-strand braid. If you have bangs, you can use a flatiron to tame them backwards towards the ponytail and then pin, leaving a bit a volume. If a ponytail feels a bit gradeschool to you, a half-up, mini faux hawk may be just the thing to give your holiday look some edge. Using a bit of Big Sexy texturizing powder, create the “faux hawk” by separating the middle section that’s two to three inches wide at the top of the head. French braid the section so that it goes straight back, secure with bobby pins and then tousle. You can style the rest of your hair however you please: curly, straight or wavy, and then voila: instant holiday chic.
Recovery
All that celebrating is hard work…and is equally hard on your body. Holiday foods are usually fairly salt and sugar laden, which unfortunately, can cause water retention, puffiness and dull-looking skin. In between all the party-going, it’s important to take some time to recalibrate your system. You’ll want to make sure to drink plenty of water and caffeine-free fluids, such as peppermint or ginger tea. If you’re unsure of just how much fluids you should be drinking a day, an easy measurement method is to multiply your weight in pounds by 60%, or two-thirds. If you’re suffering from some major under-eye swelling, go old-school and cut up a couple of chilled cucumbers. Place them gently on your eyes for 20 to 30 minutes and allow the cucumber’s anti-inflammatory properties to naturally calm those unwanted bags.
Use these beauty tips to your advantage and look your absolute best this holiday season.
Inner wear shopping can be intimidating for most people especially when it is at an open counter. The fact is, inner wears are being sold inside departmental stores openly until boutiques starting to pop up, making inner wear shopping more personal and less intimidating. This is where Wacoal is heading too. And they had just opened its fourth and most inviting free-standing Wacoal The Store boutique at Sunway Pyramid.
You’ve been busy making lists for everyone else, take a moment to make one for yourself! If you’re unsure of just exactly what you could use this season, take a few notes from the list of must-have holiday fashion accessories from the list below.
Boots
Whether you live in a warm climate or cool, boots are always in fashion. They’re probably the most versatile type of footwear out there as they can be dressed down or dressed up, and are a great, more comfortable alternative to heels. Sorel’s Major Moto Boot, for example, is a great choice for a casual footwear option. The Major Moto features a mixed-material design with a leather upper body, molded rubber in- and out-sole, and a fold-down front cuff lined with a quilted, flannel-print fabric, which adds a festive flair to the low wedge, moto-inspired boot. The heel also features built-in arch support for added comfort and a bit of treads to help counteract any icy walking conditions.
Earrings
Earrings are a simple way to add a bit of sparkle to any holiday outfit. Pearls are a timeless holiday jewelry choice and the Chan Luu SIGNATURE Floating Pearl Sterling Silver Statement Earrings add a bit of a modern appeal to the classic gem. Two iridescent freshwater pearls are anchored to a handmade sterling silver wire, making these drop-style earrings easy to pair with either a dressed-up or dressed-down affair.
Leather Jacket
Like the boot, a well-fitting leather jacket can be one of the most versatile items in your closet and can also add some much needed structure to soft, flowy pieces. Pair with a dress for an edgy holiday look, or layer with a light sweater and jeans for effortless cool weekend wear. There’s really not much a good leather jacket can’t work with.
Watches
With a smartphone in nearly every person’s pocket you may question why a watch is still even considered an essential. Mainly, it’s one accessory that can be artfully worn every day, no matter what type of outfit you’ve planned. There are thousands of brands and models to choose from, but modern watches are really more about adding a special personal or finishing touch on a well-chosen ensemble.
Modern Hair Accessories
For the past few years, the “It” hair trend has strayed from the elaborate updos of the early 2000’s, and it could be argued that the trend for modern hair leans towards effortless and chic and 100% wash and wear. But, just because the “I woke up like this” look is in doesn’t mean you can’t put a touch more work into your holiday hairstyle. Alice bands are a beautifully minimal hair accessory that instantly adds a bit of sparkle without overwhelming your look.
Scarves
There’s really not much that can add as much elegance and beauty to an outfit as a scarf. While the thick, knitted versions come out in the winter for much-needed warmth, the lighter, silk and cashmere varieties should not be overlooked as fashionable accents during the cool transitional seasons of spring and fall. A beautifully printed cashmere scarf can add a touch of contrast as well as some layered interest, or even dress up a casual look. Midweight scarves, like Burberry’s Parade Red Color Check Wool Scarf, for instance, is a perfect option for slightly cooler weather, but also great to pair with a coat and boot for the much colder winter months.
Hats
The chill of the winter months is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of much-overlooked fashion accessory: the hat. Beanies tend to be the winter hat of choice; however, over the past few years the wide-brimmed fedora has come back in full force, lending a bit an adventurous wanderlust appeal to the modern wardrobe. Sole Society’s wide brim hat is a perfect addition to your Christmas wish list. Cut from a cozy wool-felt and with a wide-brim silhouette, it was made to keep wearers warm and to shield from brisk, winter winds. The stylish fedora also features a gleaming metallic band, adding the perfect touch of holiday glamour.
When it comes to candle especially holiday candle collection, Diptyque is the master. From the packaging, to the scent. Everything are so well-thought of and brings out the Christmas giddy feeling in you. This year, Diptyque Une Nuit Chez, also known as A Night At Diptyque brings you a tale-like, warm and emotions acts, all translated onto the candles itself.
Diptyque reenchants the year-end holidays with three new limited edition candles, inspired by this magical winter tale.
If you are crazy about Daiso, there are a high chances you had already stumbled upon similar store like Miniso and Yubiso. I first came across Yubiso but was not impressed with what they had. Having said that, I absolutely love the selfie stick I bought from them a few months ago lol. Miniso on another hand caught my attention mainly due to the fact that they carry the “dupe” version of Real Techniques makeup brushes at an affordable price.
